That’s fine, so long as they don’t expect the same rewards as group content.
What players want is a solo player gear progression system. If this doesn’t happen the game will continue to die as it currently is.
This is kind of a double edged sword because they also lost people because they removed content that required groups.
For example entire areas used to be full of nothing but elite mobs.
The current trend has basically been the death of a lot of the original guild interaction.
It doesn’t matter the game either has to adapt its old outdated systems or just continue to die.
Thank god raid or die is back to being dead like in 9.0. It needs to never come back. Raid and get tier sets faster is fine, perfect even.
Basically they grabbed too wide in the market and now are reaping the “rewards” of not focusing on what a demographic wants and setting up a new game/IP to grab the other demo.
I agree with that they put themselves in a bad situation now.
I can see that, if it’s somehow kept separate from group content. It’s more difficult to form a raid group that’s fully cooperative, as compared to only having to rely on yourself and your own skills.
Maybe it will, maybe it won’t. Saying solo content will “save” or even “greatly help” the game is just conjecture, as we have no real numbers on the population asking for said changes.
We agree I don’t know if anything can “save” the game at this point. I just feel like they are failing on all sides right now.
One of my guilds that has raided together since pandaria broke up this raid tier. That tells you group content isn’t working either.
In Everquest, the big main mmo that came before WoW (its where us OG’s came from into WoW) you really couldn’t solo much and if you could manage it, it was SLOOOOOOOW and not worth the effort.
Coming to WoW after a few years of EQ, this felt like playland in comparison.
Oh this is neat, the inverse argument of people who are mad at stuff being gated behind raids and pvp. Don’t people just spam dungeons and bgs to level and queue for raids and more pvp if they don’t want to do the stories?
I just feel like they are failing on all sides right now.
It’s a shame, really. They usually have at least one aspect of the game figured out per expansion, whether it be PvP or PvE, but they’ve been perpetually dropping the ball for a few expansions now.

I think this is more a testament to the state of raiding, more than group content as a whole. That’s not to say it’s not as profound or impactful by any means.
I want to say that X or Y would make me love this game again, but I’m honestly not quite sure at this point in life. There may be irreversible damage done (for me), and I’ll just stay casual until the spark finally dies. I’m in Classic SoM, and I’m sure I will love it for the first season, but I can’t imagine grinding this every year lol

That’s definitely understandable! I think there was a bit lost in translation when I initially read your response earlier, which was my fault. I can see how WoW is definitely more solo friendly than other iterations of the MMORPG before it.
I’m tired of you guys trying to make this a single player game. It’s the World of Warcraft, not Zelda or Final Fantasy.
Most players want to casually play by themselves and not deal with other players for some weird reason.
And that’s fine. Just don’t make the single player game mandatory for us mmorpg players to do the good stuff (raiding, PvP, etc)
I think the game should just be a theme park. Players can progress in whatever way they see fit. If they want to raid, then great. If they want to PvP, great. I they want to do questing…great. If they want to do dungeon runs? Awesome. Want to do a mix of all of these things? Fine…have at it.
The problem I have with the whole system is that it make raiding the be all end all of the game and it shouldn’t be. People should raid because the just like raiding and it’s fun for them. It should be another activity that people can use to engage with the game as a whole. The more layers the game covers the more people can be happy doing the things they want in it. Player power should come from just playing the game as a whole. No matter what activity you find yourself in, just do that and have fun. I don’t like how other people’s fun has to come at a cost of progression…which is the fundamental point of playing an RPG in the first place.
EDIT: I also want to say that there could be other things to do in the game that haven’t even been added yet. Raiding, dungeon crawling, and PvP don’t have to be the ONLY things to do in the game that allows a person to progress. They could come with things that are new and fresh. And if something added fails, find out why and adjust instead of dropping it into the garbage. Games are built on iteration and if care is taken to make new activities, then that is great for all of us as players.
