The moment Blizzard learned they actually have some serious competition for the MMORPG market, and the Almighty Dollar, (i.e. FF14), they realized they needed to keep up and/or outperform, they started to step up faster. What I feel bad for are the Devs, the pressure they must be under must be intense.

This, I’ll bite, because I’m also very irritated about that particular event. Can agree. That scene is dogwater. Not even the first time they’ve done it, either. I love the Eden raids, but they do the same thing in one of those entries. Infuriating.
All that said, no writer professionally recognized comes out of this without learning a lesson, so it will improve.

The Water Within
Scary times we live in when things increase 3x in terms of cost. Good thing the grasshoppers outside tend to visit my front door and porch often and provide me with some entertainment. They are very cute but scary being at least half a foot big.

Just to follow up, I wasnt able to find any other date for a beta start for wrath of the lich King.
July 27, 2008 Beta opens
October 15, 2008 pre-patch
November 13, 2008 game release
I did find a blue post from July 3rd, 2008 saying the Op-in for the beta is opening up, and players have a chance to win Beta access.
The post mentions beta as “upcoming,” so if you think it came sooner, it would have to been released sometime between the 4th-27th of July.
Hahaha, still only a 4 month beta cycle which the OP is claiming to be too short =P
