"This character does not have access to this bank." Warband bank broken

“Regarding the issue with Warbank bank tabs being inaccessible to unsubscribed accounts, this is a known issue that has been reported by several players. The development team is aware of the problem and is actively working on a fix. However, there is no specific timeline for when this will be resolved.”

This is just boiler plate response given on almost every ticket. Wouldn’t draw any conclusions from it.

Pay up or shut up lil bro ~~

So here are the replies I got on my ticket on this issue. I don’t think people run the Customer Support anymore, just a bunch of robots that don’t even understand the problem.

(1) We are sorry to hear that you are experiencing technical difficulties.
Based on the information you have provided, this issue should be resolved by following some specific troubleshooting steps. We recommend starting with the troubleshooting guide available on our support site: https://battle.net/support/article/000358715
This guide covers common issues and solutions that should resolve the problem you are experiencing.
If the previous troubleshooting steps do not resolve the problem, you can ask the Blizzard player community for help on the tech support forums (if available) or other community gaming sites. Local computer or network technicians may also be able to help if you’ve exhausted all other resources.

(2) As I understood, you’re having some issues when you try to access to your Warband Bank. To begin, I really apologize for the inconveniences this issue is causing you, as a player myself I really understand the frustration and discomfort this may be causing you, I’m totally on your side. Regarding your problem, I’ve checked into your account and verified that everything is correct with it, so with that said, I want you to know that the issue is not related to your account, It is related to our system. I’ve done some research and found that there is a current known issue about the same inconvenience you’re experiencing in which our developers are already working to solve it as soon as possible.
I know this issue is preventing you to have a good moment while playing our game and Of course that’s not the idea!, That’s not the experience we wanna give our players! I want you to know that we really care for our player and we will solve this matter soon. However, I would really like to explain you that we as Customer Support are not able to modify, solve, update, delete or add something into the game, that’s only something that our developers have the power to do, but I will do my best to let our developers know that this issue is still affecting our valuable players like you in order to get a solution in the shortest possible time.
In addition, to work together in this, I would kindly suggest you to submit a bug report in our forums to be able to have a solution soon, however, If you’ve already done it, I just have to say thank you for taking the time to.

(3) First off, sorry you’re dealing with this hiccup – I know it can be a bit of a bummer. Unfortunately, us folks at Customer Support can’t directly fix these mechanics-related issues, but we’re here to help guide you through a possible solution!
Let’s try a UI reset. It’s like a magic trick that can help sort out addon conflicts and fix any pesky corrupt files. I get it, though – resetting everything might seem like a hassle. Big thanks for taking this step!
Here’s the plan:

  1. Delete CurseForge or WoW Matrix if you have them installed.
  2. Close down WoW if it’s still running.
  3. Head to your World of Warcraft folder (look for -Retail_ or choose Classic if it’s happening there). (Shortcut: Right-click the WoW icon, choose Open File Location)
  4. Delete these two folders: WTF, Cache.
  5. Rename Interface to Interface.old (This keeps your addons safe but takes them out of the game temporarily for testing).
If you get an error while deleting or modifying these folders, just restart your computer to finish uninstalling CurseForge/WoW Matrix.
If that doesn’t do the trick or if you stumble upon any more bugs, we recommend filing a Bug Report. It might not give you an instant fix, but it sends crucial info about your character and the situation to the Development and Quality Assurance Teams. They’ll dive into it and work on resolving any issues if they find something off. Here’s the link to submit a Bug Report: https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/15043

Notice how reply (2) states this is a known bug and the problem is NOT on my end and then reply (3) goes on to ask me to reset UI, among the several other things that will make you sigh.

I received the exact same response for my ticket. I too suspect there is no support staff and it’s all just bots.

You folks have to remember now its the holidays they are on a skeleton crew right now…sorry to say this happens this time of the year with them…they haven’t learn not to apply a new patch so close to Christmas and News Years Day…

Sounds like they’re using an AI modeled after an Indian call center.

Yeah that worries me. It’s better than being told it’s an intended change but I don’t think modern Blizz support staff (the few that exist as it seems to be overwhelmingly bots) don’t get access to that kind of information unless it’s an actually important game-breaking bug so I wouldn’t expect they would necessarily know that the change was intentional or not and that could be either just boilerplate or there is an open ticket because devs haven’t closed it yet as “won’t fix” and support staff take that as a sign it’s a bug being “worked on”.

Hope Blizzard fixes this though. It’s impossible to farm some of these limited time events without my alt account being used at least a little. Not like it’s something that can be misused either given you have to spend so much money on it and any bot accounts would have the main bnet account banned so moving stuff between them via warbank shouldn’t present an exploitation opportunity like say unchecked access to mail anyone or take mail from anyone does.

The same thing happened to my trial account as of the 20th of December, with the same message, and mine was packed almost full of armor and weapons, also 900 gold. However when I handed in " Encrypted Twilight Text" in Silithus, the Warband tab functioned as it should have. I just can’t remove / deposit anything at the bank in person.

I noticed this also. If you have materials in the war bank and are using them for professions on a trial-locked character, they can still be used. Adding or removing stuff in person on the war bank on all my trial-locked characters is not working as it did right before the Christmas event started. I use my different level 20 alts to hold & do different professions and I use the warbank to transfer my stuff around.

So it is only affecting trail and no sub accounts? Is no one having this issue on any member accounts?

Someone posted on another site with a reply from a GM. This is an intended change that is here to stay. You need to add game-time to your account to access the Warband Bank.

This is sad, but nothing I can do about it. While I had oriented my gameplay to greatly use/involve the Warband Bank, I will have to either find a way to work around it or stop playing.

So apparently there are post from different places going back and forth with screenshots from GMs saying its intended and others saying there’s a bug.

I’d be nice for an official statement for clarity so there won’t be some much going back and forth.

People, including me, have asked Blizzard to do that. To clarify in official notes. But there has been no such notification or acknowledgement yet.

As far as the back and forth is concerned, it is a shame. If you scroll up, you’ll see 3 GM responses I posted for the same ticket/issue.

One of the things that I feel is that this affects players without a subscription, so they may feel that even posting about any change is not needed.

I think they just don’t care to keep retail players informed. There are literally NO blue posts on amy of the tons of issues present. Go look at classic bug reports, and they have significantly more blue interaction over there.

Retail wow has become a FOMO cash grab, they kust keep churning out broken stuff trying to keep people interested, at the expense of quality, and they are showing again and again that they don’t care how broken the game is, as long as people can keep logging in to futilely complete the broken content, or to redo content they have already done, but had their items/progress wiped out. Talk about redefining the hamster wheel grind…

As PR strategies go, it’s actually pretty good.

As long as they don’t clarify, players yell at each other. As soon as they erase the ambiguity, players yell at them.

Ambiguity is advantageous to them by reducing how much they have to engage. Since Customer Relations is a cost center, the less of it they have to do, the better for the quarterly report.

I been keeping up, that’s why I’m asking for some official response. The dates and time seem to over lap here on the these forums and another forum that are asking in game as well and posting screenshots. It just feels like there’s no communication, nothing new there, about what’s going on internally.

I’ve already moved the game off to a temporary drive and deleted the bnet launcher. I’m done playing yet another cycle of “Is it intentional or is it incompetence? Stay tuned to find out!” with this company.

My game drive has 155gb more free space now. Thanks Blizzard! I’ll check back in a month or so to see if your programmers are bad or if you took away a core feature of the game after half a year to try and squeeze a few dollars more out of people.

While I get that people are still holding out hope that this is just a bug, I do not think that is the case. I think this is intentional and here to stay. Other than wanting more subscription money, I do not know what else might be Blizzard’s reasoning behind yanking away an amazing feature without any warning before or even after.

I submitted a ticket asking, if this is indeed intentional, if Blizzard will put warbank on withdraw only since they have essentially confiscated our items through no fault of our own.

GM Omatemirac replied:
I understand from your ticket that you can’t access your warbank since you don’t have game time. Kindly be noted that the developers disabled access for Trial/Starter and Veteran accounts with no active game time. We don’t really know whether they will be enabling this feature again soon or not, but we appreciate your feedback on the matter and you can certainly share it by following the steps in the link below:
[link to “Submit Suggestion” BNET page]

This makes, at least, two very clear statements that this is intentional.

What a screw you from the company and during the holidays too lol

Guess we know who the real scrooges are.

Ah, whatever I guess. It seems to be a thing for me. I log in a few months later to find something awesome and new and there’s a huge let down to counters the awesome thing. What I don’t get is why give the rest of the Features of Warband things. Take it all away as whole. They’re probably working on that too.
