"This action is currently restricted" after 30 days

Some do, some don’t. I don’t have any issue with people using the WoW Tokens. It is after all by your choice on how you make purchases.

check in account management and see if the 6 month sub has started running, if so see how much is left in the 6 months to calculate if the 30 days has passed. If the 6 month has not started running you will know why the restriction haven’t lifted. Also know that CS is not going to be able to bypass those restriction.

I am sorry for the frustrations you’ve had, Awedruid, especially with the confusing information you’ve received on how/when this restriction will lift.

As far as I understand how this works, if you haven’t had paid game time on the account since 2017, you need at least one month of purchased game time in order to remove the restrictions. Unfortunately, it isn’t just “purchased time” but it has to be used purchase time, which needs to run for at least 26 days.

As you mentioned you had used a WoW Token for game time, the last one being 3/30/24, which expired 4/29. Even though you made the purchase of subscription time on 4/8, it doesn’t kick in until all game time on the account has expired. So 26 days from 4/29 the restrictions should lift in 2 weeks from now.

One of the reasons for the restriction is to help restrict exploitative accounts which tend to primarily use WoW Tokens. We hope the impact on legitimate players is minimal, but obviously there can be exceptions.

This changed from 30 to 26 days?

Apparently. They updated the Support Article to reflect that, so I’m going with what it says.

Perhaps to give the person a few days to purchase and use a WoW Token before their game time expires since you cannot purchase/activate a WoW Token from the character selection screen except in Modern WoW.

Wow token didn’t come out until WOD I thought? How did you buy wow tokens and stop playing in Cata?

I currently just play in F2P mode. Max level 20, no mail, no AH, etc. I’m ok with that. I run the old dungeons for a little diversion and some feelings of nostalgia. But I do still have a fair amount of gold across my various characters. If I were to want to use that gold to get 30 days of game time, would I then not be able to have full access to the game features for 26 days? Thus only giving me 4 days of full access for my 250k gold?

When was the last time you had paid time (i.e., not from Tokens) on that account?

Not sure. Been a while. Is there a way to find out? Maybe in account management?

You could try looking through your transaction history.

Bought Shadowlands August 2021.
Bought 180 days game time September 2020 for $77.94.

Does that help? (Not sure why that’s relevant though)

THIS is very relevant.

You purchased game time using real money, and USED that game time.

That means if you were to use gold right now, your account would not have restrictions. You already ticked the “used 26 days of paid game time since 2017” box.

I thought this was only season realms or self discovery only.

You’ll be ok.

The restriction is currently only in Classic, but the paid game time applies to the account as a whole. So anyone who has used real money for game time, and consumed that game time, since 2017 should not get any restrictions on their account in any mode.
