Third Party Bot Program

A quick google search determined a WELL KNOWN bot/hacking program from original MOP is back, with at least 4 different websites providing downloads for it.

Can we please get a handle on this before it gets out of control again? I’m already encountering it in the arena.

Surely you know the name of it and if not I’d be MORE then happy to let you know. PLEASE feel free to contact me about it Blizzard.

Please don’t allow these scumbags to thrive.

So what you are saying is, a bot that is probably already detectable by warden, is back?

Yep. Still doesn’t make it enjoyable to lose to people using it. Would be nice to know there is new and improved measures to combat it or know they are actively trying to combat it. This one guys been using it all week with no obvious penalty.

If the bots been detected, he’ll get caught in the next ban wave, reporting them also helps.

Didn’t flyhackers get glad mounts in cata?

Probably, has a ban wave happened yet? Blizzard hasn’t announced one for a while.

Its nice they get banned months down the road sure, but why let it go on for so long? Why not weekly ban waves?

Why do I have to lose hundreds of rating to them before it happens?

It aint right.

So what you are saying is you are losing to a computer? Skynet is evolving quickly.

What does this mean to you?

:woman_shrugging:

Because bot banning is a constant arms race, and the sooner they’re banned the faster they’re developed to subvert bans

It means botting from this exact same program ran rampant during ALL of the original Mist of Pandaria cycle?

My question was rather referring to “get a handle on…”

What does getting a handle on this mean in this context? What are you suggesting Blizzard or anybody does? What does that process look like?

:woman_shrugging:

Banning them in a weekly wave would not only save more of the integrity of the game but it would also make them more money because every time they perma ban a scumbag for using it they just buy a new account and subscription the day they get banned.

They already have all the tools to detect and ban this program and regularly do it on like a quarterly or bi-yearly process. Letting people do it over and over for MONTHS at a time before they see any repercussions.

Thats how common players get caught botting, Actual botters that run a company based on gold buying/selling dont use those methods.
Typically they have a great relationship with the people that make botting programs or make ones themselfs, and as soon as that bot gets caught they switch the algo and boom, undetected for another few months

You seem to be missing the point. Faster action against bots begets faster bot development - what happens then when bot programs inevitably reach a point where they’re indistinguishable from real players, to the point that the system genuinely can’t tell the difference without risking innocent players being caught in the crossfire

The only way to actually get rid of bots is to get rid of their customers. Otherwise, as I said it’s a constant and never ending arms race, and actioning them faster only causes them to develop faster

I don’t think I’m the one missing the point.

They already have the tools to detect it, they do detect it, they do ban it.

BUT with all of the tools in place to do this, why is it only being once at most of four times a year? Instead of faster and more frequently?

My argument is your game is corrupt and being abused please fix it,

I don’t work at Blizzard and get paid money to prevent this from happening. As a paying customer I’m simply asking them to uphold the integrity of their game more frequently.

It’s not my issue to solve this problem, all I can do is help bring more awareness to the problem and hope they can find the solution. You know, like they get paid to do. Like I pay them to?

You are, and I can’t explain it any clearer

I’m missing the point of my own post huh?

Clearly you’re not understanding the problem or you’re a part of it.

??? You’re missing MY point, and the reason why they don’t action bots as quickly as you want them to. Are you ok?

You’re posting from an account that doesn’t have a single competitive pvp achievement nor have you ever participated in it.

So how did you come to be such an authority or have any frame of reference whatsoever when it comes to the world of people using BOTS for competitive pvp?
