Thinking about buying a guide

Hello, I’m thinking about buying the restedxp guide addon. But I heard it was against ToS to use addons that are paid. Will I get banned if I use it?

Banned no but you should never pay for a addon.

Its more of a gray area. My understanding is the addon is free but the profiles are paid. This is how they do not get in trouble for having a paid addon. Ive never seen anyone actioned for using it.

Of you get it off curseforge ur fine. Blizzard will break a addon if they dont like it.

only the first 20 levels are free though. So I am assuming I am able to buy it and use it without my account getting banned. Hopefully green or blue can confirm.

Green users are just users, granted they are recognized as being knowledgeable and helpful in the forums.

It is very very unlikely a Blue will ever commit to something being safe. It could be fine now but be changed in a year. That old post would come back and people would be like “see, X said it was fine!”

If the Devs don’t like how an addon functions they break the ability for the addon to function. If Rested XP is downloaded from curse forge then it is safe to use. If you have to download any 3rd parts to get it to function, then you may run into a problem.

Correct only the first 20 levels are free and then you need to buy a leveling profile from the restedxp website. People do not get banned for using it elsewise there would be no classic community it is that widely used.

Question regarding addons

Zygor has definitely been a topic of discussion on this subject. Blizzard doesn’t give any official comment on addons, but given that Blizzard is probably well aware of them for many years and they are still operating, I’m inclined to believe that they toe the line, but don’t cross it. Regardless, the only way to ensure Blizzard knows is to email hacks@blizzard.com and let them investigate. Don’t be shy about it. It’s not a bother.

Not sure, but if there is an addon that is locked behind a paywall, email to hacks@blizzard.com and let Blizzard investigate.
