Think we'll ever see a fresh vanilla classic server?

Obviously - OBVIOUSLY - there is zero demand for it right now. However, I’m of the opinion that the modern “less than ideal” WoW began to slowly take shape in Wrath of the Lich King. Sure, we all have some very fond memories of Wrath, too, and undoubtedly there will be a WotLK Classic. But I could definitely see myself burning out on it way earlier than with either of the two earlier versions of classic - especially once LFG is added in immediately plunges any semblance of community into the toilet.

At that point, I could really see a rise in people interested in just chilling on a slow grind in vanilla (or TBC), provided that they were given a fresh opportunity, and weren’t immediately butting heads with people’s alts decked out in full tier 3 (or t6).

As I said, I don’t expect this any time soon… but do you think they’ll ever do that? The classic vanilla servers are just dead dead right now… and they could possibly remain that way forever simply because I don’t think people want the aforementioned competition (plus it doesn’t really have that vanilla charm if people aren’t at least starting off with nothing but whites and 6-slot bags). But a new server - in the future - probably would garner a lot more interest.

No. Why? No.

The fresh vanilla experience you’ll get is when you decide to play it again after another few years of not playing it. And just like any other exhibit as a museum, quickly walk away after a few moments.

TBC Classic just came out and we’re already talking about Vanilla Classic Classic, huh?

The client is already there for people to roll up new characters for that “fresh” experience as they wish. If you have to “force” people to roll up fresh then it’s an indication that people didn’t want it in the first place. Instead of making other people conform to your will, find like-minded players who would like to play the same way, and play with them. Let’s not ask the devs to devote time to unnecessary and likely major wastes of time and resources when we’re perfectly capable of resolving the perceived issue ourselves

I would like another fresh server of some kind. I’m sure eventually Blizzard will see some $$$ in offering one again. Until then I’ll be patient. Still having fun with my TBC characters anyway

individuals starting fresh is nothing like a whole server starting fresh, for obvious reasons.

Why do you need an entire server to start fresh to get that experience? Why do you even think enough people would willingly start fresh to actually populate that server?

because it’s happened multiple times already, people clearly see the value in starting over in a new server. this really isn’t up for debate, buddy.

Best that could be done is using various social media create a “reset” time and place on one of the servers, get people to agree to rules like - no using prior characters - no grouping with characters outside the group - no auction house, only trades between players in the group, and start from the ground up, together. I think that would actually be a pretty damn fun way to play the game from fresh from the ground up, no blizzard involved. You would also know that anyone doing it would WANT that kind of an experience, and you could always remove people found “cheating” from the group, as best you could anyway. There are ways. Revisit it in a few years when people are interested.

If we get them I think it wont be for a while, and it will be more of them starting a new series of servers that will start at Classic and move throughout the expansions.

I will say that I’m starting to understand the fresh mentality. A server where everybody starts with nothing just hits differently, even compared to the soft reset of an expansion.

Do you have some kind of reading comprehension problem? Literally the first sentence of the original post is: Obviously - OBVIOUSLY - there is zero demand for it right now.

It absolutely is, you’re just afraid of confrontation

So then why are we talking about it now? No need to get so hostile, take a chill pill

you’re free to go to another thread and discuss something else

And you’re free to not have a pissy attitude just because someone doesn’t agree with you, but that hasn’t stopped you in other threads and it won’t here I suppose

It probably won’t be for a very long time. Progression servers seem likely after WotLK.

We had them it was called WOW Classic.

There are a lot of posts in this TBCC forum, asking for “fresh” TBCC servers or Classic servers (I’m not sure about the details)…anyway, there are new servers with special rulesets: no boosts, no transfers to or from, etc.

In my opinion, “fresh servers” with different rulesets won’t happen, for this reason: the WoW codebase isn’t designed to support different rulesets at the same time. They had to split off “Classic” as a separate game. They had to split off “TBC Classsic” as a separate game. They could not support 3 games (with different rules) with 1 codebase.

I don’t expect Blizzard to create a separate game for EACH CYCLE of fresh servers. And that is what (I think) Blizzard would have to do, to support this.

This has happened in the past NO transfers. no transfer rule was on quite a few new servers that still run today in retail. Of course they removed the rule later on for all server merges. No boost would be the only new rule because blizzard did not have boost at the game.

So here’s what I see happening with this. Sometime between Black Temple and Ulduar, some streamer is going to start a classic guild on one of the vanilla forever servers. They’re going adhere to the gear and instances available by phases. For example, they’ll only do molten core and no further for awhile, then allow BWL and PvP gear, then AQ40, etc. I think it’ll do well. That’s probably the best you’ll get within that time period above.

Give me everything I can think of when I say I want it. Everyone else totally wants it too.

At the moment blizzard wants you to play TBC, that’s why they launched the expansion and that’s why they put the level boost level 58. They want you to start playing The burning crusade. After 6 months we may see Seasonal Classic wow or TBC servers starting fresh. Classic and TBC don’t have what it takes to keep their people interested for long.
