I made it almost to 1700 in a vein attempt to finish the elite set. And all I get are games that ping pong between wins and losses with no major gains and only a subtle level of depression. I’m not having fun and the reward just isn’t worth the effort at the moment. Maybe ill try out blitz, but the horror stories I’m seeing on the forums are discouraging. In all prior seasons it was never THIS hard to reach rival on-really any class let alone ww monk. I know I’m not a fantastic player of the pvp’s but even so I cant see myself doing anymore of this or improving while I’m not gaining any meaningful progress. I cant be the only one who feels like this.
So should I just lerk in randoms like everyone else until the inflation hits?
Askin for a friend.
I’d just recommend finding friends to play with and trying to improve! It can also help to find a comp you like and stick with it to get better at figuring out win conditions!
Definitely time to take a break from shuffle, and maybe try a different bracket. Blitz is more inflated, but I feel that it is harder to climb in, or at the very least, a lot more time consuming.
You will have no agency or effect over the outcome of roughly 80% of your matches (e.g., you can play horrible and still win 40% of your matches, you can play godly and still lose 40% of your matches, etc.), and you will have a minimal amount of agency in roughly 20% of your matches (less or more depending on your spec).
I’d say unless you get a really lucky win streak, be prepared to play at least 100 games before you get 1800+ (e.g., I’m over 100 games in and my highest cr has been 1735).
Def try 2s or 3s if you want the elite set sooner rather than later, but otherwise, I’d just wait at least a few more weeks if you don’t enjoy the process/challenge.
When you want the elite set, you could try BBG. Its easier and it doesn’t have a softcap to mmr (yet). But it requires quite some placement games from what I have heard. So 20 games minimum before your mmr even starts moving.
people who are having fun in blitz or other form of content are playing the game, they don’t come to the forum to complain about bad teams, boosting etc
And your mmr won’t move at all if you’re in a low-mid 50% win rate (at least it doesn’t for me).
Bgblitz is honestly only a better alternative for getting rating/rewards if you are bad at arena, because in bgblitz, you’ll score a lot of wins through being carried, whereas outside of paying for a 3v3 boost, you can’t really be carried in the other arena brackets.
If you don’t get a lucky win streak early though, I wouldn’t expect to be able to climb any easier in blitz as a ww monk.
You will still eventually reach higher ratings, but for an average player or even above average player, I’d say be prepared to sink 200 games of blitz in before you make all of the bad rng/comp/unwinnable loss blitz games a relatively small factor in terms of your rating.
I’d keep playing, unless you just aren’t having fun. If there is opportunity for improvement, you should focus on that regardless of MMR or CR. The rest should follow naturally.
NO. it is not hard capped, and that’s not how that works.
No it’s not. There are similar total games with relative player counts. E.g. 1 bgb game has 16 players and 1 shuffle lobby has 6, so bgb moves more mmr than 2.5 shuffle lobbies.
Also, BGB has more UNIQUE players than shuffle; you can have the same 12 players play 100 rounds in shuffle or have a single bgb lobby with 16 unique players and there’s more mmr in that single bgb lobby.
Finally, solo shuffle still has the nerfed mmr equivalent from DF S2.
Shuffle is only deflated because its playerbase is playing blitz instead.
Imagine how dumb it would sound if people said 3s was capped when shuffle was released because people were 2k in 3s and 2600 in shuffle. That’s what’s happening here.
Nerfed MMR = capped MMR, maybe a soft cap not a HARD cap, but still being strangled none the less.
People are mostly rewards and progress driven.
Having that arbitrarily hamstringed causes extreme frustration and a lot of people quit, thus deflating the ladder even further than the restricted MMR.
Nah, the mistake blizzard made was adding too much mmr to the game every season because people cried.
Now people think that inflated mmr is normal, and that normal mmr is nerfed.
No, people are handout driven. You want participation trophies because they’re given out everywhere in this game. People want what used to be handed out at the end of a 20-30 week season immediately. God forbid you play the game for longer than a week.
Just a few more days and the Patch hits, Blizzard said they are doing big things for BG Blitz!!! Group maker and everything for it… Just hold out, and I think you will have fun, and be a better change to get your transmoggies.
Not true at all. Right now shuffle is more deflated than almost anything we ever seen. Been getting at least duelist since BFA and right now in shuffle 2100+ is a smaller % of players than gladiator most seasons. Only TWO players in the NA region are 2400 in shuffle right now, week 7 of season. That is NOT normal.
