Imagine blaming the playerbase for Blizzard’s terrible content.
The time gate in time became clearly evident for sure. You will wait for some mechanic to clear the final hurdle before kill the boss.
You can rush to gate/platform…but something will make you wait. Drop the 2 “towers” in minutes flat. Yay! you. Now everyone go back to make the stuff to make the siege engines.
Can we just bust down that door/kill the boats? I mean we are right here…and the “2 towers” are dead. We can beat this door down with our hands literally.
Nope. Go make a catapult.
I feel like, if they want to expand on old-world assets and racial armor, they can always do so without Warfronts in a different way.
I’d love to see some old world textures revamped and updated. But I’m of a category of people who would rather have another old world revamp over a “EXPERIENCE A NEW DIMENSION ON ANOTHER PLANE” kind of stuff.
I liked Arathi, at least at first, but if anything Darkshore seemed to double down on just how linear and zerg-y the design was. Even the resource gathering was hobbled, with a shallow cave instead of a mine and no trees to chop Alliance side (or at least, no way to chop trees I ever found). It was like they took the worst elements of the first warfront and focused on them instead of trying to improve on the idea.
It may be an unpopular opinion, but I love that the Blood Elf and Draenai starting areas are more or less “frozen in time”. Eversong was my first proper experience of the game, long after it was “obsolete”, when I started in early Cata. Every time I go back there it feels like going back home, day-glo decor and all ![]()
They were awful - and were always going to be. As soon as I heard “getting back to our RTS roots” my heart sank, and the end result was actually WORSE than I’d feared. Confusing systems, lots of running around, massively overtuned elites for any non-raiding characters you took in there, a sense that it was a “let’s all work together” group activity where nobody actually knew what they were doing because they got bombarded with pointless quests and a deluge of clicky-clicky mechanics… ugh.
They reminded me of Ashran, with all the little weird mechanics and gimmicks and commanders and generals and blah blah blah… Warfronts were like a scripted scenario plotted out on a spreadsheet with too much “stuff” like all those epic-sized PvP things have.
- Belf areas revamp, possibly introducing flying to Quel’Thalas due the Silvermoon warfront. Don’t care.
- For the sake of balance, Draenei areas might have gotten that too! Don’t care.
- The Alliance actually trying to wipe out the horde. The Text in the datamine said they were trying to cleans the EK of the horde infestation. Don’t care.
- Lots of Blood-elf themed armor and weapon for all types for the horde. Alliance would’ve probably gotten Velf weapons and armor. Don’t care.
- Lor’themar doing something. Don’t care.
- Barrens update with lots of Tauren (And most likely dwarf) armor and weapons of all kinds. Maybe even a totem! Don’t care.
- Lots of toys, pets and mounts to collect, most likely Belf and Tauren themed. Don’t care.
- The Horde winning two warfronts. Don’t care.
I want a game. Not collectibles.
- Player housing
- Gnome druids
- Inflight combat
- tame your mount from the wild
- Murloc allied race
- Warcraft: the Next MMO Alpha testing
The list goes on…

You forgot the part where they were gonna add a pvp option for warfronts
Warfronts were a good “idea” but they were executed poorly like many Blizzard ideas. I for one was under the impression it was a “first person RTS” where we go around with the troops in game and take objectives. Something like the Withered scenario in Legion but everyone able to take a regiment around the map with them instead of just the AI units blinding charging up lanes.
As far as Silvermoon revamps go I’m actually fine with not flying in the city. Just fix that broken section of the city, maybe give it that Boralus treatment of “Hey you can go here, but it’s not a nice neighborhood.”
You forgot Dance Studio and Aerial Combat.
I liked the warfronts. I even have grown to like dark shore since I have been trying to farm the last few cloth and mail pieces I want from there.
I expected new ones in 8.2. and 8.3. I was disappointed there were none.
One where we kill vulpera.
damn we shouldve pretended it was fun…
Kappa
Warfronts should have been 1-3 players and us directing the NPCs or leading them to attack the areas. And they should have been a lot harder so its actually a challenge.
Playing with 20 or whatever the number is other players to complete it really took away any fun the warfronts could provide.
Don’t forget Gilneas if they wanted to have the Alliance win all warfronts across the bat it would have been a good time to bring Gilneas back and maybe move the citizens of Teldrassil there but Noooooo.
I loved warfronts.
What I hated was all the other people there.
No one cares about Gilneas.
Yes! Solo or a small party when have been 1000 times better imo.
Gilneas was great. I hope we get it as an Alliance city in the future.
