Things we lost because we didn't like warfronts

This would have easily been enough to keep me playing them. The biggest issue with Warfronts was (partially on account of the absolute lack of difficulty) how one strategy became so dominant. To make matters worse, that strategy was easily the most boring, and eventually Warfronts just boiled down to how quickly you could farm resources, as all that really mattered was hitting the next ‘tier’ and unlocking siege engines.

If all of the other elements on the map actually mattered, and defending/claiming them mattered as such, it might not have been such a dreadful bore. To this day, I simply cannot blame people for having AFKed through them.

Warfronts and Island Expeditions were really interesting notions that were just dropped on their faces due to a lack of support.

With some tweaking, Warfronts could’ve been something amazing. An ode to the old RTS games. But they were underdeveloped, and now we’ll never get to see a feature like that again.

I like them, and was bummed we didn’t get more :frowning:

Looked great on paper. Definitely had potential but wasn’t capitalized on. PvP version with 5-10 players helping to defend would have done a bit to make them better.

I like them too.

I actually liked the resource gathering instead of just mindless battles. Also glad it WASN’T PvP.

I put on my lumberjack shirt every time in Arathi and ran around cutting down trees…

We lost Farahlon because warfronts too

my favorite part about warfronts is that the leaders don’t follower a cyclical cycle so it’s a crap shoot if you’re looking for one or the other

Things YOU lost because YOU didn’t like Warfronts. Don’t speak for others. I liked heroic Arathi Basin.

Yep, which is why the story is starting to get stale. The doormat mentality of some alliance gets old. Its time, I think, for alliance to start a little something major to rate the hate used to make war story expacs.

See coming from time spent in TT Warhammer (40k) they have the eternal war story. And all sides do their part to make sure it makes sense.

There aren’t any doormats to have setup a victim mindset there. All races have done something to earn their butt whooping over the years. Yearly in fact they do new and “fun” things to each other to make it fresh.

Even the humans. Especially the humans in fact lol.

I liked Warfronts, though.

I mean, it wasn’t something I wanted to do 24/7, but running through them every other week was pretty satisfying. Or at least it was until Blizz decided they were done with making new ones and added gatekeeping to the updated rewards on the existing ones so my alts got locked out. :triumph:

It’s also a problem for the horde, is hard to get behind the horde’s story, root for them when there’s no reason to. The horde is so directly the guilty and assailant that it’s just dumb to root for them.

Plenty of people enjoy them. The only people I ever saw complain about them were just some of the forum regulars who pretty much gripe about everything anyways. Heck still see a lot of groups for them in the group finder every time they are up. Even though I don’t pvp anymore, I do agree with my pvp friends in that there should of been a pvp mode along with the pve versions. I just hope they continue with things like Legion invasions, and assaults like in BFA.

My crazy idea for warfronts would have made it more like the RTS game.

Everyone gets assigned a role. One player in charge of gathering resources. Another in building defenses. One can scout. Have a commander that has a bird’s eye view only, but sets up assaults for the AI, drops supplies, calls in artillery based on scout laser designation.

Obviously we wouldn’t need a raid worth of people. Maybe 5 to 10.

Really flesh out the roles, responsibilities and upgrades as well as getting ranks for later matches.

And of course made it PvP not against AI.

Warfronts is just black morass but you waste more time.

I’m sorry but… it is just boring.

I didn’t dislike them, but they really lacked replay ability for me.

If they were PvEvP they would have redefined casual wow PvP imo.

They’re constantly looking to boost PvP participation and this just seems like such a massive missed opportunity to me.

PvP Islands are still my favorite part of BFA. They weren’t hardcore, they were just a bit of fun PvEvP content where your PvP talents could really be used in fun ways and you get to compete against other crews and it’s “PvP” I could always talk my carebear crybaby guildies into each week.

I think this is fair. Warfronts biggest issue is that they were handled poorly. If Blizzard would have treated the warfronts more like Alterac valley, like a long term siege event, as these sorts of things have been in every expansion in the past, then I believe people would have liked them quite a bit more.

It’s not the player’s fault Warfronts were bad content. Yes, they brought cool things to the game, like revamps, armor sets, and mounts. Let’s not act like it’s the player’s fault that Warfronts were AFK lobbies until heroics came out.

Warfronts were lost potential. Had they made improvements on them, I would have loved to see the Quel’thalas and Barrens warfront. But as it stands now, they would have been two more mind-numbing experiences I had to sit through on 4 characters to get the transmog.
