You could always explain what this means instead of repeating it over and over again.
In WvWvW you have that and in Open World PvP
In a PvP mode the RPG element is not needed. A player’s skill should determine the outcome. Organized PvP should always be about skill vs gear. Any mode that has organized PvP should set everyone’s stats to the same value, then unlock all abilities, and let players pick their build and then PvP.
sPvP in GW2 is far superior to WoW’s PvP by a mile. It’s not even close.
There is a gearing system now. Also, I feel like if any WoW player got a hold of the GW2 Mount System they would have a mental breakdown (in a good way)
Oh, I don’t pvp, that’s just the main argument.
I actually support equal gearing in pvp.
I’ve done my fair share of Map Meta Events in GW2 it’s mostly just a few people carrying others in a zerg type open world LFR. It’s fun the first few times, but after that it just becomes dull.
I think this is a big thing about it… they really needed to be aggressive in addressing population issues on servers for WvWvW and developing easier methods to get into dungeons.
I fully agree. At least in the organized PvP arenas. You can say that BGs are kinda like WvWvW–which I get so you really don’t need the same type of modes.
But in Arenas GW2 does it perfectly. When you go to queue first you’re taken to an instanced zone where you’re instantly brought to max level. Then they have vendors who hand out generic armor, weapons, and trinkets to meet the build you want. Then you queue up and play. No one player has a gear advantage over another or a level advantage. You only have skill.
Fair point, from the wiki page:
Map meta events are zone wide objectives with a story connected through meta events.
Participation
- Participation starts at 0% when a player first arrives in a map, and will be reset if a player leaves the map instance.
- Players gain participation by completing events or adventures
- Event (20-50%)
- Combat hero challenge (3-5%)
- Event related challenges (10%)
- Adventure
- Gold reward (8%)
- Silver reward (3%)
1 Only the first time per day.
2 No participation is gained when a player’s participation is above 100%.
- The maximum amount of participation is 200%, but any percentage above 100% is essentially a buffer due to the rewards being the same at 100% as 200%.
- Failing to participate for over half an hour will cause the participation bar to decay by 1% every 10 seconds.
- Leaving a closing map and accepting the Volunteer’s Blessing will also result in the loss of all participation.
- Participation is retained upon returning to the same instance of a map.
- Any percentage above 100% will cause the participation bar to glow.
Rewards
- Map meta rewards are governed by the map tier and amount of participation that a player has; the higher the participation, the greater the meta rewards. This can be seen in the reward coordinator box, appearing over the players mini map.
The thing is GW2 sPVP is pretty dead.
Oh, so it’s a dynamic world quest like the Maw Hunts or Wrath of the Jailer?
Doesn’t exactly sound groundbreaking.
It is nothing like those at all… I really hope you don’t consider ANY world content in WoW to by dynamic world questing.
Yeah going against BlackGate in WvW is pretty lopsided. I can’t remember the last time I went against them and they didn’t have a tier 3 SMC all week.
The population imbalances are staggering.
The vast world vs world zones to fight over. I cannot believe wow never implemented that.
Theirs hardly any gear progression in GW2 which automatically puts it under wow for me.
Tbh, i’m not sure if having a fail state (leaving the area) and having a participation mechanic for Meta events in GW2 makes it dynamic.
It would make it somewhat challenging in WoW if that was implemented, in a sense that there’s a fail state or a punishment if you don’t put in your full effort.
I’d love some vast open world PvP zones to fight in. Zones that are specifically designed for it, but WoW’s servers would never be able to handle the zergs in their current state.
Dynamic - (of a process or system) characterized by constant change, activity, or progress.
Map Meta Events are zone wide chains that are affected by performance and can branch off depending on the outcome (failure etc). Eventually leading to a giant zone wide conclusion if successful.
Ahh, my mistake, i thought you were talking about the small little zones events in Guild Wars 2 (The world quests equivalents).
Sure, WoW could use some of that. Invasions (pre-launch invasions and legion invasions alike) are a good start, as long the player also has the option to opt out back into the normal gameplay.
They would need separate servers most likely. I don’t see why it couldn’t happen, especially in this day and age
Yeah, when GW2 first launched it had the little zone events but has since added the Map Meta Events system in their expansions.
I really wish more people knew about these (and knew that GW2 is sooo not dead lol) to see how lazy World Quests and even Invasions are.
I just want Blizzard to stop stealing ideas from themselves (Diablo III Bounties = World Quests etc) and start stealing ideas from others, improve on them etc like they used to.
