Everything (Open World Content, Mounts, Character Progression, PvP etc) except Gear Progression since there is a end point to gearing in GW2.
Haven’t played GW2 recently / don’t know what I’m rereferring to?
Well, should probably give it a go as it’s free and even if you buy it there is no sub fee or anything.
Debating or unsure at all? I have three words for you then… Map Meta Events
(Video not English, but good example of a Finale to a Map Meta Event Chain)
EDIT: Almost forgot… Unique and MEANINGFUL Mounts / Mount Progression.
Yeah, once you get Ascended Gear that’s prrretty much it. I think that’s the one exception that WoW does better. Though, GW2 doesn’t even try in the department as its more focused on other forms of progression.
I wanted to stay playing it so badly, but for some reason I just couldn’t. It’s missing something… I don’t have that addiction feeling I have playing other mmos.
It could be the gearing, but honestly it happened even before that became relevant, never actually got a character to max level.
I think there was a all around feeling of lack of purpose and substance, like I rarely felt my character itself grow in power… You get all of your abilities very quickly, and they are pretty simple… not much complexity.
The only thing GW2 does better imo is for organized PvP everyone has their gear stripped and everyone has the same stats and you can build your character anyway you want. That way when you do PvP in Arenas you’re never going against an opponent who’s gear will beat you. It’s all skill based.
IDK what Ascended Gear is, i used to play at the very start, where they don’t even have LFG so we have to use third party site to form a group, the hardest content used to be Fractals and a dungeon named Arah(?) i think.
I think exactly after i figured out i pretty much can’t gear up anymore i straight up quit, the game is still up and running so obviously there are still some of those “i do content just for fun” people.
sPvP is far better than WoW’s organized PvP. Why anyone who would argue for a system where a player’s gear can beat another player in organized PvP is nuts.
It’s just the highest tier of gear you can get, but takes awhile to get all of it. Still, the fact that there is an end point in Gearing is still there. They’ve since added an LFG system (Literally always something to do)
Also, lastly… I cannot stress this enough to people who haven’t played GW2 recently but… Map Meta Events
That has changed, there is a lot more gear progression. However, there is an end point if you’re only going for one build. Gear is definitely not just cosmetic anymore and… Map Map Events
