Things FFXIV does better WoW should learn from

You completely miss the point on Torghast. Its not whether its optional or not or too hard or not. It’s that its pointless. Half of the complaints of Torghast go away if you actually got something meaningful for doing it.

Everyone sitting there telling him he needs to just go play it, what if he doesn’t want to? WoW has been on life support since WoD. Blizz should REALLY listen to their fanbase and actually do things for once instead of just listening to the hardcore base, SL has nearly nothing for casuals to do besides callings/WQs.

It was the only thing he got wrong in his rant.

Solo players either have to do group content, (FFXIV doesn’t have M+ or anything similar so it’s basically just a few dungeon runs a day for tomestones to buy gear from a vendor) or they can buy crafted gear that comes out every other patch and is only relevant until everyone else catches up with the token gear. The top end gear is always 10 ilvls higher than casual gear and can only be obtained through doing the top end content.

  1. One of the worst parts of FF14, turns a character into a complete Mary Sue that can literally do everything. Completely dumb idea.

  2. Lore does matter, even if you don’t think it does, get over it, all races should not play all classes.

  3. This isn’t an FF14 thing, WoW has had meaningful solo progression, but elitist whined and whinged that casuals got things too easy and demanded things be taken away from casuals to make themselves feel better.

3.2) Old content has been revived in the past and time walking exists? What even?

  1. From what some of my friends have told me who paly FF14, it’s not stranger to classes being unbalanced. I don’t think any MMO does balance perfectly. Blizzard could stand to make things more balanced, but this isnt’ a “lesson” taken from FF14, FF14 didn’t invent good balance.

  2. this is just point 4 but with a different color of paint better balance.

  3. Again, everyone knows some currencies are short changed, what does that have to do with FF14?

  4. FF14’s crafting system is the most asinine and boring thing ever to be created in an MMO, hell no to anything remotely close to that boring minigame to make anything BS.

Basically your a FF14 fanboy, think FF14 does things better, and think FF14 “Invented” doing things better. What a surprise. :woman_shrugging:

This is just a big “I like FF14, Boo wow” thread.

Why aren’t you playing FF14 then?

yet regardless of not having any one of these features/options, wow still stands today ~17 years later. so if you asked anyone, that is a sign that it’s doing just fine the way it is, regardless of how much you don’t like it.

Meanwhile FFXIV failed and literally had to be “reborn”. So taking features or ideas from a MMORPG that literally died and had to be resurrected/rebooted, isn’t a good idea if you ask me.

Not every MMORPG needs to be a clone of each other. If they was, it would be a very bland and boring gaming world. If FFXIV is so grand why are you wasting your time playing WoW or trolling the WoW forums? Clearly its not so entertaining to keep you that busy.

I played FF XIV for a few months and for the most part enjoyed it. The only problem with it, is that it tries to cater to everyone - while catering to no one at the same time. Sure, it’s got great writing, better graphics, and better music (it is an FF game, after all), but I wouldn’t say that it’s superior to WoW in all aspects. It has its good points and if you enjoy it more than WoW, then don’t waste your time boasting about how great it is - just. play. it.

Imagine thinking you could change the game at this stage from multiple characters to one character who can do everything. There are reasons for multiple characters.

The fact FF does this business is to actually save storage space, it isn’t really a plus for the game.

Actually I am going to go with I don’t like any of your other ideas either given how you started because I can’t be bothered with reading all that.

If you want to play FF go ahead - this game should never be a copy of another.

You know lots of MMOs do stuff better than WoW

Osrs has a better player economy, solo progression and trade skills

GW2 has better solo, class design and flexibility, cosmetics and mounts

Eso has better trade skills, solo content, class flexibility and what ever else

I guess it’s the overall package we look at

I’ll never play FF14 because the combat looks like hot garbage and the PvP looks like it sucks

I’m all aboard the “SL sucks” train, but that doesn’t suddenly make ff14 a good game, that’s probably the last MMO I’d go to.

For now I’m thoroughly enjoying ESO until New World releases.

Says the guy who plays a game that has several poop quests, cartoony aesthetics, and more Anthropomorphic races than FFXIV has.

things i think ffxiv does better:

  1. Travel
  2. Flying
  3. Transmog (lets be honest, this is really the end game in ffxiv)
  4. Storytelling
  5. Crafting (not the system, but the usefulness)
  6. Whimsy… like, just fun stuff. silly stuff. they dont take themselves so seriously.

OR, and hear me out here, we love this game, but also see how it could improve. This isn’t a tribe, where the tribe can do no bad and is perfect as it is…People have wanted many things in wow…and quite a few have gotten put in.

People wanted a way to make our armor look how we want without sacrificing our power.
Xmog system was implemented
People hated having their bags and banks filled with gear to xmog into because we used to have to have the item to use it.
Boom we now can.
People wanted to be able to use mounts on all chars they spent ages farming.
Boom we can, pets too.

You see the point here? Advocating for change, gets change

The crafting/gathering is extensive and better in every single way in FFXIV. It’s my actual endgame, as it can be for anyone - there’s so much to do and so much to progress.

WoW’s crafting has never in its history come close to being comparable.

SL being bad (and modern WoW in general) definitely doesn’t make FFXIV a good game. FFXIV being a good game does though because it is.

This right here is what everyone should be the most concerned with.

Blizzard will most likely buff the gains as the expansion goes on. Which means they don’t value the players’ time in the slightest, and don’t want people to be able to progress until they flip a switch.

It’s honestly insulting.

You don’t get meaningful reward from easy content, that’s not how the game works. If you nerf the challenge out of the content, that means you necessarily nerf the rewards out of the content, unless it is something Blizzard is FORCING onto the player-base, which is worse.

If Torghast is not something people want to be hard, it is better that the rewards aren’t meaningful.

yeah, ok weeb

priests wave the light
paladins are infused by it

therefore undead can be priests but not paladins
