… but there is special training required.
No there really isn’t.
You swap weapons and do a quick quest custcene and find out your the chosen one of blah blah blah soul that gives you special powers and your super special and getting powers far faster than most blah blah blah…
I’ve played the game, the only “Training” is the base classes, that you just get to 30, and then suddenly have all other classes unlocked because you just need the baby classses at either 30 or 15 increments.
Then you can just freely jump from a dragoon to a white mage, to a black mage by just swapping your weapon.
I’m not a lore nerd nor do I care about lore but you won’t get anywhere telling people their content doesn’t matter.
How about none of the things you want matter?
Besides fixing Legion scaling I’d rather they not touch old content.
The training is leveling each class.
If you’re a level 70(or whatever the current max is - been a while since I’ve paid attention to level) dragoon, you’re a full dragoon. But if you’re a level 30 White Mage, you’re still in training. You still have a big quest line ahead + the act of leveling to max to unlock all of your skills.
You’re not just immediately max level by swapping your weapon. You have to train by completing dungeons, completing quests, etc. for every class. That is ‘special training’.
You can’t make a generalized statement like:
And just support it with a strawman like this…
… when called out.
You said it didn’t require any special training. It demonstrably does, regardless of how you attempt to downplay it.
People flagged it because 1. preheat is a troll and 2. it doesn’t really belong in here, it belongs in the off topic gaming forum since it’s not really about WoW
It’s describing what WoW lacks compared to another game, which I find very WoW-related. I also find it unlikely they are a troll to be making such points.
Oh boy, another Preheat “FF14 is better than WoW” thread.
Will they ever try something different?
lol. You would be extremely wrong then. He’s been a forum troll here for about a year, at least. He and everyone else is more than aware that threads about FF14 cause problems here, which is why he makes a new one every so often.
I stand by pre-WoD wow being a far better game than FFXIV, so they should just go back to that.
But post-WoD WoW is like, actual trash so, eh.
Have you even played FFXIV? As someone who has a max level of every job in FFXIV, I can definitively say they they do not feel similar at all.
They did dumb the entry point down yes, but at the same time they made the top end of their system far, far harder than it had ever been.
It’s not if you want to be able to craft the very top end stuff.
No one is forcing you to do older content. If you chose to do a leveling roulette then that’s a choice you made knowing you could end up in an old dungeon.
Incorrect. Racial identity isn’t tied to specific classes. If Tauren could be every class, they’d still be tauren.
If nothing else the story is worth finishing.
They can learn from each other and still stay unique. Though I’d love if they did a cross over event. Never going to happen, but would still be cool.
Because adding races in Shadowbringers was going to be potentially the last time they added new races to FFXIV, and decided to add two instead of just one and then came up with a lore reason to explain why you don’t see male vierra and female hrothgar.
I don’t mind addons. I think FFXIV could allow some player addons and break things they don’t want like damage meters and/or DBM like addons.
And honestly, if I were SE, and players wanted to make mods that allowed vierra and hrothgar able to wear all the helmets, I’d take the free help.
Preheat is unironically right about most of this
The irony is, he’s actually made legitimate points.
They hated him for telling the truth.
Also, FFXIV doesn’t have the playerbase split between 2 factions. Factions should have ended a long time ago, but especially at the end of BfA they just don’t make sense anymore.
I think WoW used to be better at looking at other games then adapting their good ideas. They should do take a long, hard look at other games again and learn from them.
I know, doesn’t make me like him any more though lol
This is the strangest thing about the current WoW team.
They have clear examples of systems that work, yet they insist on ripping everything out by their roots and creating a bunch of new things every single expansion.
The most effective trolling has that grain of truth.
I mean… in this case it was mostly a block of truth with a few grains of troll
And the worst part is… they keep reinventing the same things. Instead of adding content that will persist for the game’s lifetime, they keep reconfiguring a small part of it and focusing the entire game around that reinvention. And throwing it out every two years.
