You have no idea how you supported me with that comment. Made for those that claim DF is better for any reason other than speed and several have tried to argue that.
To keep from crash-looping servers. Yeah. It isn’t going to kill you to not go blazing speeds whenever it’s double the speed of heroic flying. You can see it every day in the Emerald Dream where some like normal flying and some nyoom like their life depends on it. A small nerf isn’t going to hurt anything in old zones that aren’t offering new content.
Hovering is better than nothing. Dynamic without the speed is just extra buttons to press.
Why wouldn’t you want to keep the speed?
I’d MUCH prefer the speed over the hovering.
Dynamic only feels so fun BECAUSE of the speed. You actually feel like you’re flying
Confirmation that zones in 11.0 will be small…er
The flying made those zones trivial , what planet are these devs on with these interviews.
I personally like walking away from my keyboard instead of sitting somewhere I could be potentially attacked/killed after landing to go get my XYZ.
That is good to hear. Don’t get me wrong I enjoy the heck out of dragon flying. I’m flying just to fly, but I also did that before as well. I don’t have the most mounts out all the mount collectors by a long shot but I have a lot and sure as heck like them more than going faster.
It should at least match the speed of flying mounts on Azeroth and reward players for using it over standard flying mounts. If it does not and is slower than there is literally no point to even unlocking Dragonriding on Azeroth itself. Isn’t 80% slower than Epic Ground Mounts? Crazy case of fun detected, fun not allowed if so.
I only use normal flight lately because some treasures require it but okay I can understand nerfing it to keep the servers from blow up. Valdrakken lags like crazy when people are zipping around like mad so it’d probably be bad if that happened everywhere
Yes, I know this…
DF is not better flying. its just faster flying. If it were better flying, it would be better if it had the same speed as old school.
You wouldn’t, because static flight has superior utility. “Better” is kind of a vague term here - the weighty handling and animation give off a sense of implied speed that loses its punch if you’re not zooming across the map. You need it to be at least significantly faster than static flight for it to be “better”, but when it achieves that it feels more fun and satisfying for some of us.
Personally, I like having slower static flight for precision and faster dynamic flight for speed. It reminds me of GW2’s mount system, which is infinitely more fun than any other MMO on the market. Skyscale, which is a lot like static flight (slower and more precise, you can afk in mid-air, etc) is a lot more useful, but the griffon is much more fun. Obviously if you make the skyscale capable of matching the griffon’s speed, the griffon becomes obsolete. But you miss out on the handling and momentum of the griffon that makes it so fun to use. You get a better mount, not a better experience.
They wouldn’t be equal if they were the same speed because one has hovering and the other has nothing.
If you removed the ability to hover from both and they had equal speed, I’d take dynamic because it’s not as boring.
The speed is what is compensated for losing the ability to hover
I’d even be cool with the option to buy increased mount speed for regular flying. Nyoom and hold W sounds so much better than having to manage a vigor bar and worry about hitting 2D mesh that messes up my gas.
So if you take away DFs speed, suddenly all those “skills” disappear?!?
Sorry, please try again to grasp for something to say.
I’ve said everything I need to say.
Exactly. They’re distinctive mount styles with different playstyles. Having strengths and weaknesses for each is what makes them fun.
Nothing.
You tossed out ALL dragon flying abilities to try to say it has nothing to old schools hovering…
Reminds me a lot of ARK in a way. Griffin you can dive bomb and soar faster, but you lose the abilities that make the Argy great. I’ll still usually take the argy because I like the utility. If you know you know.
You think I want to press buttons to NOT go faster?
I don’t get it
This is my official stance and now it’s time for bed.
If anything, I want Blizzard to tie static and dynamic flight together in the leveling experience of TWW more. Swapping between them on demand as a druid in the new zone is really fun. Neither is entirely better than the other, and that’s healthy game design.
