Good for you OP, taking the time and initiative to help the kid out.
That’s awesome!
Pretty wild Mummy logged in though.
I’d be dead embarrassed if my Mum started telling everyone I was balling my eyes out cus I got trolled.

Yeah what that would do is get him kicked at the start of a lot of dungeons instead of just part of the way through a few of them.
Tank, hey, you know Rout?
HEY GUYS, MY MOM FORBIDS ME TO TALK TO ALL OF YOU, BUT I’LL TRY TO PLAY NICE.
Yeah maybe, maybe not.
There’s no perfect answer.
Can say any number of things.
I would like to believe the OP’s story. I really would.
But even my 9 year old took being vote kicked better than this. So it’s a struggle.
Also why would his chat even be up to see your message if he’s not allowed to chat? They force him to have chat open but won’t let him respond to any of it?
That’s like tying your child to a tree and then telling them to ignore the bears and coyotes.
I don’t believe a mom logged into the son’s account to message the last guy that whispered him to ask what happened
Good ideas. I’d say 7 seconds before “yes” becomes available. Long enough to be annoying, plenty long enough to read the window.
Also think the penalty ladder should be fully reset every week.
Also, what if the vote-kick not being unanimous invoked no penalty at all?
I certainly don’t have all the answers, but the reason people can be so mean in game is that there are no social costs. It’s the same reason people become unreasonable jerks when they’re driving. Driving is not social-cost-free, but it’s a lot safer to give somebody the finger when there’s basically zero chance of you two ever interacting in person.
So maybe the solution is to track, and make available, how many times a player has initiated and/or agreed to a vote-kick. If somebody has an unusual number, maybe they won’t get invited anymore. That’d be a social cost of sorts.
A new “Blizz needs to change vote kick” thread with added “it make kids cry” angle.
Very inventive.
OP gets extra point for painting himself as a savior.
Yeah no shot lol, in the story the son is in town, started crying, the mom hears him, goes to talk to him. So his chat is now full with trade chat spam, she would know and think about scrolling up to randomly guess maybe someone messaged him, know how to reply, and explain all this situation? Hahahahah no shot, this story is capping big time.
Everything I don’t like is fake
weak.
I very rarely hit yes. truthfully most times I don’t notice the bad behavior and need to reflect on what’s being asked of me. By the time I click no, they’re gone anyhow.
I don’t think it’s a real situation either. Makes no sense.
For one thing, 14-year old boys these days are not that fragile. They can be savage. I’m not saying this applies to all of them but I bet it does to most.
Then there’s the fact that as a parent, if you’re that concerned about toxic people being mean to your child, the solution is to not let them play, not throw them to the wolves with tape over their mouths.
And last but not least, getting kicked is not a big deal. Zero reason for mom to investigate.
Edit: There’s also the fact that 99% of the dungeons I’ve done nobody talked. There’s just too much to the story that doesn’t make sense.
My mom used to message my friends all the time.
then I remember she can’t type or use a computer because she is tech illiterate.
I did have my friends mother call me once and threaten to give me a hicky.
I’m not going to share any more of that story. However, it is true.
Actually more believable than OP.
It’s a good enough system. Kid, go tank your delve, level up your professions, go kill rares. Honestly, plenty to do. Most people in groups don’t barrage the tank for good reason.
Okay, so there are two options here - either this whole story is a lie, which I believe is most likely, or OP just got trolled hard by this guy pretending to be his mother.
I don’t really see any other options. This 100% did not happen as described.
They called him problem child.
Brought his mom to trial
she yapped an endless mile
Someone stop these youths gone wild.
As much as I hate the VTK system, I do think it has it’s place. It just needs to be updated. You shouldn’t get the deserter debuff if you’re kicked. Especially in situation like this, with toxic a**es. I suggest the vote be unanimous. If one person declines the vote, the player stays. If afterwards, the initiator doesn’t like it, they can leave and get the debuff. For a world that’s become so anti-bullying, this is a form of it.
only kick people if they go afk some players are just new to and it upsets me that theyre in a normal dungeon like youre bad the games been out for 20 years and people have to study to play so
