I am not being serious. I never kick and or report.
Was about to ask what side of the bed Kimlyn woke up on today. Gotcha.
Just to humor that the OPâs story is trueâŚ
Mom and Dad are morons. Just because their child doesnât respond to others, doesnât mean they wonât get bombarded by, or exposed to conversation regardless. They should impress upon their child the signs of dangerous behavior from others (phishing for personal information, inappropriate conduct, etcâŚ), and how to deal with that appropriately (ignore function, report to a GM, etcâŚ).
Reported .
This is the reason i only group with my guild and yes parents do make sure that kids donât talk online .
Theyâll ban people who leave some boosteeâs dead key, but wonât do anything about vote kick abuse. Itâs pretty dumb.
I donât really understand the 30 minute debuff when kicked. If thereâs ever been a tool to grief, that is it.
My kids luckily play games with pretty strict chat and insta ban/report for comments.
I turned off chat in WoW for them too. Iâd just explain that most people are absolutely ruthless here. Plus, they only get 2 hours a day to play. And encourage solo play or not play my game.
Part of me would like to have them play with their own accounts but Iâm happy with their choice in games.
If a vote to kick fails an automatic vote to kick the person who initiated the original vote to kick should ensue. That could be a deterrent for idiots who start the Vote to Kick.
It was implemented to solve the (rare) problem of healers and tanks forcing groups to kick them from random dungeons they didnât want to do.
So instead of occasionally having someone waste time getting kicked, and then immediately getting a backfill. We are left with a system that is abused by trolls to lock people out of playing the game for 30 minutes. Itâs wild.
Parents dont always make informed decisions in their efforts to protect their children. They might not know how to disable chat and just insist the kid not give out potentially dangerous personal information. Since the judgement and insight of most 14 year old kids is not necessarily the best, a blanket no talking rule covers that and their own mechanical ignorance.
I always just disabled the chat features on games for my kids and figured when they were old enough to both want to turn it on to talk to friends they made outside the game and figure out how to turn it back on on their own they could.
Time and time again where players telling me that Vote to kick canât be abused, and yet stories like op is proven that Vote to Kick can be abused.
The poor kid only had 1 hour to play with a 30 min. debuff. What? Sorry kid better luck next time?
The OPâs story is fake as heck, please tell me people arenât actually buying this?
I do think this system is in dire need of an overhaul. My ideas have been to add a 3-5 second timer before âyesâ becomes enabled on the VTK window. That would at least make people more likely to only click yes if the person really needs to be kicked and force ânoâ to be the lazy just click to make the windows go away option.
For the debuff they should make it an increasing penalty instead of outright debuffing everyone for 30 minutes. So implement a times kicked counter that decreases by 1 each week and each time the player completes 5 of the type of content they were kicked from. The following can be applied based on the kicker count
0 = buff to skip to the head of the line for an instant requeue with the group they were kicked from excluded.
1 = no buff or debuff
2 = 30 minutes debuff
3 = 1 hour debuff
Also to encourage only kicking when really needed offer a loot bag similar to the satchel of cooperation for finishing a dungeon without any kicks.
Finally make it guaranteed that if removed from a dungeon that the next dungeon queued for in the next 30 minutes will be the same dungeon making it pointless to force a group to kick if a player didnât want the dungeon they were in.
Just donât let them play these games then? I donât understand. They donât need to play these games, there is no rational logic behind letting them play these games but not letting them talk while letting them read the chat, which is way way worse than talking. They also have to pay the sub.
There is way too many unbelievable points to this story, it makes no sense. This canât be real.
Itâs patch day. Are you not entertained!
Coulda made the age more believable
I could be more entertained to be fair.
You mean most 14 year olds donât cry because they were kicked and have their mommies talk to the group for them?
Kids Iâve worked with in the past were 7-13 and wouldnât act like that either lol
