They somehow managed to attempt to address a problem while simultaneously failing to actually solve anything and only make it worse.
No, this makes PVP gear way better in PVP now. It’s a great change.
PvP gear was already pretty much canon in PvP after the SL changes, this just makes you worse in PvE (not necessarily a big problem), but doesn’t solve gear disparity problem, which means boosting isn’t really affected by the change either.
No it doesn’t because they artificially lowered the ilvl of pvp pieces per bracket. The only thing it does it make pvp gear worse in pvp. 220 pvp gear would be 214 in the new system.
That’s not how it works at all. Duelist gear, under this WoD system, would be 220 iLVL outside of PVP, and 233 iLVL in PVP, which puts in on par with Mythic Sire gear. Thsi is making PVP gear way better than PVE gear.
Duelist is 226 outside of pvp currently, check your numbers. 1800 is 220.
It’s a good thing I’m not talking about how it works currently, I’m talking about the WoD system they plan to implement. Under that WoD system, duelist gear would be 220 outside of PVP and 233 inside of PVP.
You’re welcome! From your friends at Blizzard!

It’s hardly a change because you never fight players in pve gear. The change only lowers pvp gear for pve use. What players wanted was a non rating gated system (not you included I believe)
The only time PvE gear was relevant was in the very start of the season when you could fill slots that you didn’t have yet.
And now we will have to worry about that even less with this new change. There’s no incentive for us to use PVE gear at all.
Yeah, that’s also a good thing, because it means that PVE players aren’t as compelled to do PVP. Which means less boosting, less carries, etc. It really wasn’t fair that PVP gear was the best gear for both PVP and PVE.
Yeah, you’re correct, I do not want to kill off gear progression and devalue the MMO-RPG experience.
you’re right in your responses but the change means nothing and is not what the majority of sensible players want when they ask for “wod” gearing. It’s not a win for pvp, it’s a blip on the radar and nothing changes.
I could be wrong but -Looking forward, Season 2 Duelist gear will be item level 246 baseline, and it will scale up to ilvl 259 in PvP. At the same time, Mythic gear from the Sanctum of Domination raid and Vault rewards from Season 2 Mythic Keystone 14+ will be item level 252.- Meaning each tier is more crunched so honor gear would be most likely 233 so by that logic 1400 237 - 1600 240 - 1800 243 - 2100 246, so instead of 13 ilvl difference from the 1600 bracket, it will be 13 diff TOTAL, if this happens i think itll be received ALOT better as the disparity wont be near as much… just how i read it… but yeah obviously a full on WoD system would be best
This change accomplishes nothing except reducing participation EVEN MORE, now that PvE players won’t be as incentivized to get PvP gear. The change also does absolutely nothing to combat the problems our community has been complaining about. We will still have this absurd ilvl/rating wall that makes it almost impossible for returning players/new players/alts to enjoy the game. RIP.
Real questions. Will it actively scale up in world pvp or did they manage to screw that up and ruin world pvp as well.
World PvP only isn’t enough, they gave us a stupid content called Torghast, our gear must be scaled up in it too.
It isn’t onesided. I created alot of m+ groups at start of season to have gear advantage, I won’t next season but it will impact PvP playerbase more negatively yeah. Participation will be lower, somehow hybrid players like me won’t bother participating both content now. We will see.
Basically this changes served PvE players, especially raiders.
I warned people to not want stupid things like WoD scaling many times, they insisted on it, here is the WoD scaling, I’ll easily get my Duelist set again and people who ask for this will keep suffering as a bonus they will be useless in PvE content. PvP community asked for this, they deserved this nerf.
I am completely fine with new gearing if they treat Torghast as Warmode and don’t scale our gear down, we shouldn’t have to suffer a stupid chore more for the sake of raiding.
This is arguably the worst incarnation of PVP gearing that anyone could have thought up.
I’d argue that a middle schooler likely could’ve thought up something better than this half-baked system they want to ram down our throats. Does not solve the core issue with gearing being too long a process and entry level honor/conquest gear being simply incapable of winning against people with gear that’s 20+ ilvls higher.
it really feels like the worst of all the iterations of pvp gear. Its like they took everything we didnt like and put it all into 1
I’ve been told this is because pve players dont want to pvp for gear.
