no i dont consider rp to be something the game should be design or balanced around
answer the question, what else is there other than raid mythic+ delves and world content.

First of all, you said which scenario a pet is USEFUL
You set this parameter, a Pet is useful in any form of content related to delves, questing, solo, RP AND PVP, yeah, you didnt even though about it cause you obviouslly only see your own bellybutton;
You saying necessary later, contradict your own statement and parameters.
pets arent useful to pvp now that mm has ms baseline now and hero
you dont need a pet for solo or questing, i have leveled my mm without a pet to max each time a expansion drops
Anyone that argues need is missing the point. For MM the pet is nothing but a tool, just like our traps and shot based CC (concussive, bursting, etc)… If you really want to remove the pet as a tool from MM, why not argue for MM keeping aall hot based CC, losing pet and traps, BM losing shot based CC and traps, and survival losing pet and shot based CC but keeping traps.
Otherwise, the argument just hits more along the lines of:
If you want to be ranged and keep all the tools of the hunter class, roll BM
If you want melee and all tools of hunter class, roll survival
If you want to gimp your tool kit, roll MM
No, pets are 100% useful to spin flag, keep people in combat, stop healers from drinking, prevent cap while you are sapped and you get their skills as well.
Thats besides the point ypu make, you argued they aren’t useful → that’s flat out wrong, they are very useful depending on the content and people doing then, it make things easier and faster
You said then they aren’t necessary, thats again, dependant on which content you do and who is doing it, some people rely on the pet to do X, Y and Z
Ultimately you are talking about necessity, you don’t need to play hunter either, hell you don’t even need to play wow, people didn’t need to use lust in their M+, but they wanted anyway.
The point is, dont ruin the gameplay and fun of other people just because people were complaining about needing a pet to lust in dungeons, fix in another way
how is petless MM gimped in 11.1
Read what I said, I did not say it was gimped, I said the TOOL KIT was gimped. One can play just fine without using all their tools, people do it all the time. The thing is, some people like to have access to their full BASE kit no matter what spec they are.
To put it another way, sicne a lot of the anti pet crowed can’t think:
I am playing MM in the patch, I pull one mob, and am doing enoguh damage to bring it down without much danger to me, I pull another one and they come running at me before I can kill the first mob, so I fire off a freezing trap to hold them in place, oh, what’s this? I have pulled 1 3rd mob due to kiting, I know I’ll call a pet and have him tank this 3rd mob…wait, I can’t because Blizzard removed my ability to call pets.
okay how is the TOOLKIT of mm gimped at all in 11.1?
who’s to say with the new MM kit if the first two enemies are dead right away because of the increased damage you’re doing? now you don’t even need to worry in this hypothetical
Do you really need to ask? Currently all hunter specs have access to all of the tool kit for CC/utility, after the patch BM and survival will have it, MM will be losing the pet tank.
Lets be a bit realistic here, if they boost the damage enough that happens with even common elites (not rare elites or bosses, mind you, just say like the worms and large crabs in the storm on the isle), then we won’t really need CC anyway, if they want us to rely on CC to kite and get things done, then we at least need our “spotter eagle” to drop decoys if we are already using the othe rCC to kite mob 1 and hold mob 2.
Yep. Tanks have to taunt as p3 starts, preferebly midair before any possible damage loss. What it means is that the game can’t deal with threat properly in phase changes.
Okay, let’s do another hypothetical. Don’t miss pull multiple enemies. Fixed. MM will be fine. You’ll be fine. Just like every other class spec in the game.
Lets try thinking a bit, yeah, what I said is indeed a hypothetical, but you, like a fool, did not think of the situation that could lead to mine. There are areas PACKED with mobs, some of those same areas are packed with ELITE mobs, and sometimes all it takes to pull extras can be a simple disengage that lands a millimeter too close to a mob.
For pvp marksmanship has been using pets for many uses. Spinning a node while the hunter is stunned is the one of many but the only one going away thats both super useful but also going away. The lion’s share of pet utility used in pvp is staying.
Pvping MMs could forgo lots of utility to get a tiny bit of Single target damage and a considerable amount of AoE using lone wolf, but not having MS, Freedom, Bloodlust, and other uses to get that bit of added damage from Lonewolf was a pain point that is being resolved. The total 11.1 MM package including new pvp talents is an obvious upgrade in pvp over whats on live at the moment, so I support the changes while recommending Blizzard keep the traditional pet as an option even if the MM pet only does what the Eagle cannot do.
I’m glad the Eagle doesn’t care about line of sight to use its utility, I love that I don’t need to spend brainpower, time, or effort to heal it, summon it, dismiss it, track where it is, clear CC that is on it, or resurrect it. The Eagle just works, while the traditional pet is nice to have, it still has many problems in pvp.
I though about it. Your whinging is all fixed by playing better. Good luck with that.
and your arguments are based around being as insulting as you can to other players. Let me clue you in on something, even those that play quite well step in fecal material from time to time. Ideally, the situation will never occur, realistically though? it is a case of you can reduce the chance to almost nil, but you can never hit that 0% chance no matter how hard you try.
I just have to think you for proving that those that are against keeping the pet, and resort to being insulting and condescending are not hunters, but the classic name for the class that got used oh so very often.
If MM has a pet that can be a taunt bot perma then the specs balance in solo content is built around having a pet that can tank for you. So the base kit will always lack without a pet in solo content if it stays.
On top of that blizzard has a target key binds per spec so keeping the 4-5 keybinds required for MM to keep this taunt bot that will also decrease the likelyhood we will get new abilities to help us as a pure ranger spec.
IE the pet is holding back MM. The only way to keep the pet and keep it balanced is if it doesnt have a taunt\no micro management.
What keybinds would be required? Most of the MM hunters that use a pet currently:
Translation: the only way to keep the pet and keep it balanced is to force the spec to micro manage the pet when the pet maanagement spec is BM, not MM.
Most hunters dont have dismiss pet\revive\heal pet\summon pet or pet attack or follow keybinds?
How do you know what most hunters do lmao
The only way to balance a pure range spec is to not have taunt bot perma pet. As soon as you put a perma taunt bot in you remove the requirement for abilities that a petless\no taunt bot spec would need to survive. If you have both then its over powered.
BM hunters might, as the pet is central to their rotation and need to fire the abiliteis off quick. Almost the same with survival, MM hunters though? who is to say that they don’t key bind them but keep them on bars for easy access for when they do need them.
Anyone that is able to think might realize that there are preferences for keybinds, if the pet is not important to the hunter in terms of DPS? it will either be part of a macro, kept on the pet bar or placed on the hunters bars but not key bound.
I found the perfect answer to this line of thinking:
Yuck you are toxic in your replies. Maybe dont take things personally.
When i say bind im not talking about keybinds im talking about on the action bar as skills. Blizzard has said that they have target counts for skills on specs.
Pet is gone and will no longer hold back MM hunters design and MM hunter will be better because of it. MM hunter has been unpopular for a long time and this is going to be huge.
Keep being toxic though it will work out great.
