Which is not very good at its job TBH.
Well, the raid and M+ examples are just wrong. 99% of the time you don’t take concussive shot, and just use Tar Trap if you need a slow (since AOE is better in M+, assuming the mobs aren’t just immune to both)
I’m going to suggest skill issue.
In world content, not really something that applies. Not everything needs to be tuned around M+ or having M+ gear, especially with all the variable of mobs and mob health pools Caps. Would be great if you wouldn’t respond to my posts if you’re just going to be disingenuous.
M+ “people” try their best to ruin a lot of things for every other part of the playerbase, but the pet going away isn’t one of them.
I tried melee SV hunter. After maining ranged SV since I started playing. If I am going to be in melee I’d rather play Arms Warrior, Ret Pally or Unholy DK. All have better survivability. Better immersion. Frankly for melee with pet, Unholy feels better. (For me. Others may disagree.) Plus Prot/Prot/Blood Spec when you need to be unkillable.
BM - Dependent on the pet to a degree that I don’t find appealing. Plus I was never into going after the spirit beasts which are required to play the spec.
When I play this guy, rarely, I play as MM. With the pet. Because I like the pet aesthetic and the memories.
What I want is pretty much irrelevant. Blizzard is gonna do what Blizzard is gonna do. Maybe they walk it back. Maybe they don’t. Guess we will see.
The MM changes aren’t the end of the world. For me it’s just another irritation. I’m glad I don’t bother with hunter anymore. I feel for those that do, and like the pet. At the same time there are people that really like melee SV. Just as there are people that don’t want to deal with the pet while playing MM. It is what it is. Blizzard can’t satisfy everyone, but sometimes it seems like they really enjoy making people upset with ham handed changes.
Ironically, hunter for me was my OG classic WOW main, but i switched to monk with MOP and never looked back
fixed it for you
Even in essentially full siren isles gear, aimed shot crits basically 1shot any open world quest mob.
The state of my hunter when testing all this was: a few crafted items, using only what could be got from renown/story mode queen ansurek, 1 +8 delve vault trinket, some renown gear, and the rest from Siren isle.
There’s nothing that is in any way difficult to acquire there, or that requires more than 1 person.
But if casting aimed shot + arcane shot on a mob is too much for some people that they need a really bad tank, I don’t think that’s the game’s fault.
Nope, not hitting 2.5-3m aimed shots. 2 mobs pulled, aimed shot CD.
Disingenuous arguments again, which typically comes from the raiders that have to get carried in guild runs!
Genuine question
I’ve been running petless for years, I just love the playstyle and I really think a lot of people would enjoy it if they gave it a try. I know there’s still the emotional attachment to an assortment of pets people have collected over the years… that’s still an issue.
So the question, are you having trouble killing standard mobs? Even if you’re not hitting aimed shots that high, you should be able to open with aimed shot into concussive shot immediately as aimed shot hits so you do big up front damage, and also slow them… Then do your rotation and the mob should be dead before he gets to you. This has worked for me for years on standard mobs regardless of gear… leveling gear, new gear, etc.
For mobs with more health like some on siren island, I stand at max range, put a tar trap about 2/3 of the way to the mob, explosive trap about 1/3 the way to the mob open the same way and he never gets to me.
If they somehow get to me I freezing trap, go get back to max distance, and do the same thing from the other side.
Once you start getting used to those buttons, you can start throwing out traps to slow groups of mobs and do more or less the same thing but with aoe. It’s just really fun to exert that much control over the battle field when you combine it with some awesome burst.
and that’s a lot more effort than send pet + regular DPS, as is standard for casual play. You’re basically asking for increased effort and less casual play for the same reward, which in general doesn’t end well. Basically, they’re making a lot of regular content harder - even if it’s still doable etc people will still notice the difference and it’ll cause an issue.
All for it if you’re saying they’re now gonna make m+ gear drop out in world or something for the increase in difficulty but even then you will find people are annoyed at the difficulty increase for something they did easier before.
I personally don’t have a problem with standard mobs. I am also not fully geared, as Caps explained they are - and that’s just for world content. There are people that will be 420 ilvl when they hit 80 too.
I mean, this affects 1 spec out of 39.
Why should mages get better rewards to compensate hunters?
No, it isn’t. You have to use it and you have no choice in the matter. Plus, Blizz’s own wording describes it as a pet, with it having more pet-like features being added over time.
It’s outside of the game space, similar to the ravens summoned by Devouring Plage for Shadow Priests… Even if Shadow Priests had options to customize those ravens, I don’t think anyone would consider it a pet spec because the spell animation looks like an animal.
Doesn’t beast mastery exist? Why do people act like they are removing the entire pet mechanic from hunters?
Read the skill yourself. It’s a toggleable ability.
At this point, I’m not sure if it’s a reading comprehension issue, a game of telephone issue, or just trying to gaslight us.
Their argument was about people using pets poorly in M+.
That makes NO sense because beast mastery still exists.
The blue post state that players were “feeling frustrated” to have to summon their pet to use its utility, and this change was aimed to fix that.
So it was 100% change due to the M+ crowd, since they were the only ones who had to “”““Suffer””“” this predicament. This is their “mechanic” reason.
For thematic, Blizzard, with their infinite wisdom, tried to please people who wanted to play with their own pets, and people who didnt want to play with any pets, by taking away this agency, this choice and forcing both to have a bird they cant control, change or even erase.
Truly a monumental disaster fail thematically
