You have items like the flame cap in Zangarmarsh that are perfect for bots to farm. There are times spot on at 7am 3-5 death knight bots log on and fly almost the same paths. You can follow them and take their nodes, kill them, dismount them or simply just keep them from gathering and they will never react. I was under the understanding that botting was illegal but it doesn’t seem like there is any effort to curb it.

At the end of the day, the only thing we can do is to continually report them. Player reports are the best tool for getting rid of botters. And in the current situation where the devs have mostly abandoned Classic to deal with the Dragonflight launch, it may be a while longer before they return to fix bugs, plug exploits and ban botters en masse.
The problem is that since detecting the actual botting program is a losing battle the only solution would be to police gameplay.
Should it be against the rules for a particularly organized player to log in at 7am every day to farm herbs and ignore all other players? Maybe such a niche case would be fine but where do you draw the line for what’s acceptable gameplay and what’s not?
Any solution that requires actual worker oversight like having a GM actually be in-game is clearly not going to happen and I personally don’t trust an automated bot detection system to have an acceptable false positive rate.

“farm mats” is checkers level gaming. Even so is gdkp (bad way to gold farm). Just do some AH. 1k gold in few minutes. Buy what mats u need from the bots
The bots do suck but honestly is it all that different from a normal WoW experience? I’ve got 4 80s with max profs and mostly haven’t noticed the bots unless I wanna mine at a reasonable time in the day, but I usually wait until deep in the night. I kinda don’t hate that they run the AH.
It sucks that libram farming is a colossal waste of time now but I’m not mad about buying runecloth for rep grinds at 1g/stack instead of dragging my DK to blackrock mountain. And it’s not like they’ve monopolized the real effort sells- titansteel is still my main income and crafting BoE gear will always net you money from new players and alts.
Back in the day they ran the AH AND they wrote links in the ground with their corpses AND spammed /2. I’m ok with dealing with the first thing and none of the rest lol. If Blizzard steps in and fixed the bot issue, some things will be better and some will be worse, but only for a while until the bots come back. It’s a delicate ecosystem that favors no-lifing that’s for sure lol
