…sigh…take this time to research ddos attacks. These people are amateur script kitties who bought a botnet so they can get their moment in the spotlight. It’s not a complicated process and no amount of money can make you immune to DDOS attacks.

They could automate DDoS protection, though it might ban innocents in the process. At worse they could just refund a week to those who are victims.

its pretty much the same thing as when an expansion drops and all there servers are overloaded it happened literally every time anything big happens to its easy to see how its not difficult to replicate they probably spent wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy to much money to overload some servers and mess with a few peoples weekends for a bit

They are not PHD in CS of course. They know nothing about algorithms, data structures, machine learning, etc.
In 2019 you don’t need to be smart to DDOS anything, you need to be stupid instead, because sooner or later they will jail you.

And on servers like those running WOW, you really can’t block DDOS attacks without also blocking useful traffic needed to play the game.
Only way this ddos is going to stop is if the scriptkiddy gives up, or his ISP drops his connection to stop the attack from happening. Which isn’t an easy process I would imagine.

Ddos attacks dont rly require a vector, its just a side effect of using HTTP. Nothing being exploited, I wouldnt call it a vector at all

You can literally rent a botnet if you know where to look. There’s no skill involved whatsoever.
Even the viruses they use for them are basic as hell since they mostly target areas in the world with poor computer security (ie China).

Vector is simply a word to indicate using infected computers to deliver a payload.
