These DDOS hackers are geniuses

There’s not a thing Blizzard – or any company – could do to prevent DDOSing from ever happening.

Captcha prevents bots from creating false accounts, not DDOS attacks.

A week? For what, 3ish hours of server issues?

Yeah, i guess we would seem like gods to ants. Just like these script kids seem like a PHD level computer scientist to you. lol

Im a software engineer. This is not really a vector in the way that the word is actually used, at all

Unless you pedant it down to how they initially got the botnet up in the first place, but thats also not rly the point of the discussion here

thats what im wondering though like cant blizzard get this guy charged if they wanted too relatively easy and i doubt he is just untraceable why bother risking shti just to bother a few peoples weekend

 No.

please don’t call them hackers. They are script kiddies, actual hacking requires skill and knowledge

DDoS is often executed via infected computers as well. People running without any form of antivirus (windows defender is standard and almost impossible to turn off) get infected and become unwitting contributors to the very problem they don’t want.

Sure.

You cannot pursue charges against a person within the two hours they’ve been DDOSing your services.

I dunno I was momentarily tempted to do something productive.

i mean obviously but what im saying is after all of this is done like i just cant get into the mindset of whoever as to why bother?

lol i made some soup and now im talking to you lovely people which normally i hate allies but hey

any 13 year old with their mom’s CC can buy a botnet and type in ip addresses. it’s not hacking at all

I have been a programmer in .NET and numerous other languages, and have been responsible for network security for many large companies. Please refresh your knowledge of the word vector. Google can help you with this.

" An attack vector is a path or means by which a hacker (or cracker) can gain access to a computer or network server in order to deliver a payload or malicious outcome. Attack vectors enable hackers to exploit system vulnerabilities, including the human element."

But, one is always right and one is always wrong.

no need to mock it was a genuine question.

Yea, DDOS doesn’t require a thread of intelligence. Quite the opposite as you get basically no reward outside of feeling powerful for a couple hours with a nearly certain jail time.

It gets vague with some things.

Yeah, but the OP’s version sounds so much more entertaining and hollywood-esque
