These arcane mage changes are awful please revert them

They always do this with Arcane. Every single time. It’s actually comical. I’ve been playing Arcane since BC… I’ve seen it all. They apparently don’t like Arcane being fun to play. Every time Arcane gets fun they kill it.

I first felt the need to add my comment about the Nether Precision change, which was reverted thankfully. But now the same kind of change is happening with Burden of Power? Why? Please revert this.

The inconsistency with reverting the nether precision double dipping but allowing this to happen does not make sense! Please blizzard both or none!

What? It does not. Per Preheat, Sunfury has more arcane barrage casts, simply because of how burden of power works.

I mean I actually think spellslinger rotation is more fun than SF regardless of barrage cast amounts but I still play SF b/c number higher and cool bird and shiny orbs. It is a minor increase in fun though which is why I am fine with playing both.

Also to blizzard, don’t do rotation changes this late so revert BoP change. I have already said nerfs that would work far better.

Agree with the consensus here. This approach to class tuning is completely inconsistent with what Blizz has described their approach to be and a bit embarrassing following the last double-dipping reverts. I’ve spent time learning the Sunfury rotation because it’s fun and now having to wait for content creators to revise guides they’ve literally just put out, this close to season 1 start, is very frustrating.

Agree with everything being posted here. Blizzard why are you making rotational changes this close to when the season starts?

I went spellslinger, the spell Que is what makes it awesome. It’s almost like they need a mage talent for spell que if that’s something they both need gameplay wise moving forward.

Save arcane mage.

Just glad I gave up trying Arcane. Come on over boys, with this 5% pyro buff we might beat the healer.

I have figured it out. The “class balance” changes listed, specifically the arcane, were really meant as an April Fools joke for next year… and someone accidently gave the wrong information to post.

All is forgoven blizzard, haha. You got us GOOD! +Kudos

100% agree. Bizz don’t mess with the core rotation game play of arcane!!! Revert this change. Blizz keep the fun in Arcane Sunfury!!

I like this change honestly. sunfury was pretty op as far as power scaling goes. Im sure they will do some compensation buffs to balance it out.

This barley nerfs Arcane. It is less than 4% deps nerf before the new APL is figured out. It also makes no sense to change to rotation of the class one week before raid for such a minor nerf especially when there are better nerfs.

Here is a far better nerf that would bring us more in line with everyone else that doesn’t effect our rotation/gameplay:

  • Mana Cascade Haste increase reduced by 0.5% per stack for Arcane
  • Spell Sphere spell damage increase reduced by 1% per stack for Arcane
  • Lingering Embers spell damage increase reduced by 1% per stack for Arcane
  • Burden of Power increase to Arcane Blast reduced by 15%
  • Burden of Power increase to Arcane Barrage reduced by 15%
  • Arcane Phoenix damage dealt reduced by 20% for Arcane.
  • Meteorite damage dealt reduced by 20% for Arcane

That should bring SF Arcane down almost exactly 1.5M DPS in single target while not effecting the rotation and not effecting spellslinger’s damage as well. If you want more of a nerf than this, just reduce these values more or look at Arcane Bombardment/Savor the Moment.

Note if you buff Spellslinger by

  • Arcane Splinter damage increased by 30%
  • Splinter Storm damage increased by 20% for Arcane

it should bring Spellslinger to 1.48M so its more inline with Sunfurry. You can then just do flat spec damage aura decrease to get the DPS to what ever value you want it to be at internally.

Why mate? Why are mages hell-bent on nerfing, rather than buffing, to bring other specs in line? I’ve never seen a class more at war with one-another than mages. It’s like, Fire has to best, or Frost, or Arcane. If one spec has it good, then it needs to be nerfed, not the other two lifted up.

Hurts my mage soul. It’s not enough we fend off against every other class, but also within our own ranks. This expansion truly is, The War Within (Mage Specs).

Because we are barganing, Blizzard wants to nerf us, that much is clear, except that their attempt at a nerf barely nerfed us while simultaneously messing up our rotation, people are just pointing out that if they want to make us worse there are way better ways to do that than making the spec feel worse to play.

Aura nerf would be really bad. Sunfury’s ST is too strong, but arcane’s AoE as a whole is not and probably needs a buff, not a nerf.

There are also a lot better ways of integrating ABarr in to Arcane’s ST rotation than relying on double dipping and unreliable means of getting charges back. If you want to bargain then bargain for that.

If it was me I would ask them to change how NP works. Remove the damage increase to AB altogether and instead make it only buff ABarr and also cause it to refund the Arcane Charges it spends. Because of all the added synergy that would provide NP might need to only buff one ABarr instead of two but that’s a reasonable trade off. No double dipping spell queueing involved at all since they have such a problem with it and a much better solution overall, imo.

That might be interesting but that is basically a spec rework and should have been done months ago. At this point they shouldn’t change up the entire class one week before the season.

Yea that’s pretty true but if that’s the case they can buff some of the stuff that does better for AoE like meteorites or splinter storm to compensate. Honestly they shouldn’t need to aura nerf us with the right changes to SF.
