I agree sunfury arcane mage needed a nerf, in fact the entire mage community was saying this needs a nerf, but removing the ability to double dip burden of power is changing our rotation and making it significantly worst.
Please revert this change and let us actually have fun in our rotation WE DON’T WANT TO SIT SPAMMING ARCANE BLAST. This is so incredibly stupid of a change and just shows a massive level of incompetence and 0 care from Blizzard. Mages have been extremely vocal about all changes during the beta with most of our feedback being left to the void, then once we got to a point we were ok with Blizzard chooses to destroy our rotation.
There were so many good nerfs available to nerf our numbers, but changing our rotation is not the answer. If rotation changes were wanted it should have been done in beta with time for feedback not now.
What is the purpose of mana cascade or other tuning nobs you guys BUILD INTO CLASSES IF YOU ARE NOT GOING TO USE THEM. This is awful these changes should not be happening at this phase in the game.

They simple killed Sunfury altogether. Either people play spellslinger or change spec/class.
Blows my mind how someone is paid to think about this changes…

Because the last time they wanted to remove spellqueueing from mages it went over SO well…

The most mindboggling thing about this change is that Blizzard has talked in the past about adding in “Tuning Knobs” types of talents to the Hero Talents, i.e. passive talents that don’t affect the rotation or concept and simply exist as a way to tune a spec/hero talent combination without affecting the gameplay. My question is why not simply use those tuning knob talents for their explicit purpose? Isn’t this precisely why they were made? You can nerf any number of things, for example the Haste from Mana Cascade, the bonus damage from Burden of Power, meteorite damage from Glorious Incandescence if you want to further nerf AoE, or even the Lingering Embers buff from Codex of the Sunstriders. When all of these options exist why opt to nerf in a way that ruins the playstyle? It simply doesn’t make sense.

I just came back to arcane as it’s finally fun again and right before season 1 Blizz sticks a knife into arcane and twists it. Leave double dipping alone.

I guess it’s back to smashing AB and being mid to lower tier dps

At this point I’m convinced and unpaid intern who was quitting anyways since summer is coming to an end was in charge of this.
Since the alternative that an actual Blizzard employee could do something so overwhelmingly stupid and make such a massive, awful change without even providing any sort of justification or explanation is too much for me to believe possible.

I genuinely don’t know what Blizz is thinking here. We just went over this with the NP double dip.
Change the damage tuning but don’t mess with the rotation all of us have been learning and throw out the work the guide and APL creators have been doing.

Would it really be that hard to balance Sunfury without making the Burden of Power change? Are they taking the easy way out at the detriment of the Mage player base, or would it really be that much more time consuming for them to reduce damage elsewhere?

It’s incredibly disappointing seeing tons of issues with the other mage specs/hero talents, and seeing that when the tuning patch comes out no concerns are addressed, and blizzard removes spell queueing which we’ve made explicitly clear we love. Please revert this like with nether precision spell queueing, and just give us a flat nerf.

I did not know you could spell queue AB and Barrage both getting Burden of Power buff.
Then we have (had after the fix) to cast a 2nd Barrage to proc Glorious Incandescence.
I wonder why none of these new buffs are displayed below my character, it’s annoying because we have to track them.
None of this was given during beta feedback?

I don’t believe any of us have denied the need of a nerf to SF arcane dmg, however the route that was taken to do so today completely lacks respect to the communities time. For One our guide writers who work tirelessly is being completely screwed over, the guys creating apl for simulations also getting screwed. Lastly there’s the player base that picked up arcane to learn a very fun and engaging spec. I’m a long time fire mage player who always refused to play arcane in the past because for one it was far to complicated and unejoyable. For the first time I picked arcane up and it has been absolutely amazing game play wise. With this change your dev team came up with today you have completely gone against a few interviews that I sat and watched through where you stated we want to respect player time and not completely have that go to waste when nerfing classes and specs. I feel completely disrespected opposite of what you have all stated.

They went the worst possible route for nerfing this. One they treaded before with Nether Precision AND reverted. What gives?!

Why would you change the gameplay of Arcane Mage??? Just nerf the tuning. Blizzard = no fun allowed.

The only good thing about this is the gap for those who want to play spellslinger is narrowed.
Sunfury spell orbs are such an ugly eyesore, anchored wrongly behind your character model and clipping all over your hat and shoulders.
They should have brought back the Felo’melorn fire mage artifact revolving spheres, but they decided for these ugly spellspheres instead.
I don’t wan’t to be forced to play sunfury as an arcane mage.
They need to improve clearcasting procs and arcane barrage, as well as reduce the CD on arcane orb.
Remove the hard caps on arcane aoe as well, just make barrage splash for damage beyond 5 targets for decreased damage.

I think changing anything rotational is a complete mistake. Didn’t they just have an interview saying they didn’t want to change classes too much because of time investment and gold sink that players are putting into their characters. This is an awful change. Nerf damage somewhere not change the rotation.
