There's too much Elune in the game. What?

She’s not really a god though is she? She’s just another robot made by the first ones like her sister.

I really hope they walk this back. Of all the crap lore that came out of Shadowlands Elune and all the pantheons being robots is the worst.

I hope it’s something where they specifically made the Eternal Ones robots because they dealt with death and needed to be programable to be unbiased and just do their jobs. If Elune is a robot that would just be awful.

I don’t have hopes. Blizzard seems hell bent on ruining any religion that’s not human light worship.

They are not quite… robots. Their bodies were constructed by the progenitors certainly. But they contain a primordial spirit from before the cosmos was structured as it is now.

…except Arbiter 3.0, but we will not talk about him. Butterboy is his own kettle of fish.

On that note, there has not been a single whisper of the progenitors, or really anything cosmic scope, in TWW outside of Xal’atath being something ancient and from the void directly.

They might be not retconning, but at least avoiding bringing it up for a few years. The real test will be TLT when the pantheon shows up and their grand conspiracy is revealed.

Blizzard seems to be putting her in the role of a god. In charge of universal forces and such. But if you think she is just a robot that doesn’t matter, then just leave her on the sidelines

In my opinion it is not the best logic. Even if Elune has favorites, does it mean that she cares less about other followers? Doesn’t she give them her power, her protection, her blessings? Elune still take care of them. I don’t think her followers of other races will feel much of a change. In our world we have religions that believe diety favoring one nation over another, but thousands of people from all over the world still believe in it.

Who said everyone should worships Elune? Harronir is the second or third major race to worship her (if Blizz don’t turn them into Eonar worshipers). I give examples of many Light-worshiping races. There are definitely more of them than Elune cults.

Knowledge about Lun’alai is the biggest piece of lore I want to delve deeper into. :star_struck:

According to Trolls, the moon is not a Loa, so worshiping it is considered strange/heretical. Therefore, this tribe are considered outcasts. Why this caste decide to worship the symbol of the Trolls’ mortal enemy and choose isolation over acceptance by Zandalari? Night elves and trolls hate each other, but the Lun’alai remain loyal to Elune. Could they be connected to dark trolls? Elune once saved them? There are so many possibilities.

Taurens are another race that could give us a new look at Elune. We have seen many races discussing the true meaning of Light and their interpretations. I’d like to see Troll, Night Elf and Tauren have a similar conversation about Elune.

How about no?

The Tauren are already stuck with enough of their lore as basically tag a long with night elf stuff. Let’s have them take some lead on the world soul stuff since you know they’ve always been about that? The night elves can keep their god, let’s not just keep sticking other races under that.

TBH I wouldn’t be surprised if that becomes the Earthen’s role. No need to push in tauren if you’ve got neutral dwarves that are literally made of the planet.

I don’t want Elune to take over Tauren lore. Let their main god be An’she or Mother Earth, but you can’t deny that Elune is also part of the Tauren myths. Just give me one NPC in Thunder Bluff who can better explain his race’s view of the Moon Cult. I don’t want a whole story about it, I want a short quest or just some Stay and Listen dialogues.

Ew. Tauren are a much better choice. I don’t understand why no one asks them how they knew about the goddess living inside the planet who’s now sending everyone visions. Some Tauren should definitely appear in expansion about discovering the truth behind soul of Azeroth. Hammul and Aponi should take Anduin and Thrall’s place.

Its kind of a no win scenario because if the Tauren are right, and Elune is subservient to the Earthmother, then some Nelf fans may be upset by her getting lowered in status.

Elune can afford to be knocked down a peg or two when it comes to importance. Blizz made her the singular most important goddess in the entire known universe in SL

But that’s me.

Having the Tauren Earth mother be the world soul could be a connections that could be developed and would be much needed involvement of a Horde race in the plot.

OTOH, that would have required Blizzard to have paid attention and thought about Horde lore beyond making them the villains.

Well, I’m certain the argument against the Tauren wouldn’t be related to them be part of the villainous Horde. Nope the dev’s would never be so callous as to double down on their own bad decisions.

I mean it’s not like they decided to create a whole new race… just to… oh right.

I’m sorry man. Beyond Green J… I mean Thrall, we aren’t likely to see any Horde representation in any meaningful way. Heck, they added Jaina back into the mix rather than involving Nightborn mages.

Yeah just like Legion I think TWW will just be another alliance only expansion. And I am so tired taking orders from alliance leaders all the time.

I am in fear about what Midnight might bring to us.

Yeah and the problem is you can’t really get Elune without nelves.

Isn’t it more like Nelves are Elune’s chosen race rather than THE chosen race?

Problem they are running into is they are delving into things the early lore never accounted actually being investigated. Cosmic god stuff was distant and entirely subject to interpretation for most the game’s lore—The Tauren and the Kaldorei could be correct and wrong at the same time about Elune.

I’d say we crossed the warning line likely when we went to the seat of the pantheon and beat up Argus. Then the point of no return was Shadowlands. Now, 95% of the original mystery of the game has been sucked out and their attempt to put it back with the Progenitors has mostly been a flop.

Just wait until you realize that the Progenitors were only trying to build the cosmos into a proper intraconnected system to ward off a greater, more distant threat than even themselves… you fools, you don’t even know of the… the…

The Abstractals of the Before-Before!"

They are so far removed from mortal life on Azeroth that the only way to fight them is through recursive methods, in which the Heroes of Azeroth will enter a virtual world forged by Gnomish and Goblin technology to emulate Azeroth so that you can fight the Abstractals by creating avatars of Azeroth’s denizens to perform rote tasks and kill their minions, culminating in a grand raid…

So, you are saying azeroth is secretly a Destiny 2 Vex simulation world.

This is somdthing I’ve noticed a lot of WoW players, particularly those who are into lore have a blindspot with, they can’t seem to grasp that even if something isn’t canonically related if it’s thematically identical it’s the same thing.
