I mean, they’re basically subleasing a broom closet from the winter queen (who hates them because ofc she does) as far as we’ve seen, I don’t count that as a big win.
Shadowlands lore hasn’t been kind to anyone. But the Trolls were still the only ones who were right about the afterlife. Bwon even saved the trolls’ souls from the Maw while the rest of the gods looked on helplessly, at the situation, so even if it is a broom closet and smaller diety, I wish every race such afterlife and a god
At least nobody’s got it as bad as the OG-orcs where their entire ancestral religion is due to the Draenei causing an industrial accident when they showed up which prevented them from moving on to the actual afterlife.
This comes across as pretty delusional. No race was connected to a zone in the way the night elves were to Ardenweald.
As for using the term Elune and neutral in the same sentence has me rolling around on the floor, not necessarily laughing. Elune is nightelf lore. No one elses.
Agreed. Elune is literally the mother of night elves who crafted them into new forms to suit her whims (hence why they look like her actual biological son). Elune smiled on Azshara brutally conquering the planet, and only turned on her when Azshara tried to subvert her worship and started making deals with the Legion.
Even if Elune has other things going on, she’s absolutely tied to the nelves at the hip.
To be honest, I personally would divide Elune and Musha into two separate entities, and have it be a subtle point of difference in Kaldorei and Tauren religious practices that outsiders often confuse. Elune is just too utterly bound to the Kaldorei in the story to give anyone else air.
Something like this:
Musha
Musha is said to be the divine spirit of Azeroth’s larger moon itself, born of the Earthmother as one of her twins after she created the world. She is the mistress of wind and rain, a bringer of healing and solace in the night. It is said by the Tauren that she retreats to stand vigil over the slumbering Earthmother for half the year, causing the summer to come in her absence.
As the great archer, Musha is called upon by hunters to guide their arrows true during their hunts and by shamans seeking to beseech the elemental spirits of water and wind. In more recent times, Tauren who have taken to the sea beseech Musha for favorable winds and protection from storms.
Yes. Having Horde players play Earthen really gives the impression that they didn’t have anything for those players, so they just have them follow along with the Alliance.
Yes, it isn’t impossible that impressions are wrong. But how they have handled the Horde, for years now, matters. And, at best, if there is anything in the story to make my character connected to plot, Blizzard doesn’t even feel it is important enough to promote it.
With my raiding stopped, I need to know if it is worth investing money and time getting involved in TWW.
It’s cool you like them, but the content they give for them makes it very clear Void Elves are those who never wanted to be part of the Horde.
I’m not aware of a single Void Elf that actually misses the Horde. A few miss Silvermoon, but that’s just them missing their old stomping grounds/home. None miss the Orcs, Tauren, Trolls, Forsaken, Goblins… aka the Horde… that Found Family that helped their people out.
Sure, that was not what i was going on about, it was more in reference on how “earthen are full of alliance themes” because said themes are similar to dwarves, in comparison, even if not friendly to the horde, void elves bring a lot of the blood elf themes, which would mean horde themes. The speech pattern, the designs, the personalities and so on.
tbf I like dwarves in most media, I like golems in most media, getting what are effectively little golem dwarves without the WoW Dwarves’ baggage is neat.
In slight fairness to Blizzard, what race could they give the Horde that fits the setting and wouldn’t tick off people due to the earthen being a 2nd dwarven skin? And they already made Thalassian elves cross faction, so is it that big of deal to give the Horde an Alliance race?
But the blood elves themselves are an outsider aesthetic to the horde (not to mention having been alliance themselves for a short time in the RTS games). Especially since post-TBC they’ve kinda fallen into just being light elves.
I think a closer comparison would be some of the original behavioral themes of the worgen, or the introduction of the Manari Eredar skin tone to the alliance.
I wouldn’t even count the worgen. They were neutered the same expansion they got introduced in. They don’t stand out in anyway besides a humanoid wolf form that basically means absolutely nothing.
The race might as well not even exist with how little they matter alliance side
So your view of horde aesthetics ignores a good chunk of the horde? Blood elves, i assume nightbornes too? Thats kinda limiting in itself isnt it?
So is not like you want horde content, you want specifically orc, tauren or troll stuff?
That is the problem though. Thinking blood elves are a Good chunk of the horde when we all know the OG Warcraft 3 horde is what he was referring too
People have got into this horrible mindset that everything on either faction has to relate to the local elf race playable on said faction or it doesn’t somehow count
Like there isn’t 90% of either faction that gets completely ignored
I didnt know the dude was specific about wc3 horde or vanilla horde, i thought he meant horde as a whole.
That seems to be a dishonest way to see things “I want horde content, no, this doesnt count because Y, and this isnt horde because X”.
No it’s not dishonest. Wanting to see more of the things you like ingame is NORMAL and helps get people invested in the story and one we’re all paying to play by the way. I HATE the kaldorei and want them gone for a few expansions, so races like the worgen, gnomes, dwarves, etc can get screen time
Doesn’t mean I’m dishonest. Just means I want stuff that I care about to get some love
It’s easy for you to say he’s being dishonest though when your fav race, the kaldorei, gets content EVERY SINGLE EXPANSION while everyone not an elf or Borewind Human gets ignored
Then say “I want tauren content” Instead of “horde gets nothing”.
Thats the dishonest part, not the wanting content, but dancing around what you want.
Guess what? Elune also created Xe’ra and the Prime Naaru according to Khadgar.
You can consider the Belves part of the horde without considering them part of the horde aesthetic or core horde. They’re on the periphery like the forsaken but not as much as the Zandalari.
And unfortunately for me, I do agree that the belves getting a big chunk of the spotlight when I already have elf fatigue kinda sucks. But thats also because they’re not doing anything with it. I don’t care about any in-game relationship tbh, I’d rather be hearing about a Silvermoon/Suramar joint backed alternative to the KT. Or anything that is about Silvermoon itself and unrelated to helves, velves, or any other elf except the NB and maybe Moon guard because they’re cool.
I was very specific about what I was talking about earlier in the thread. I don’t believe I’m being dishonest here.
Yes, I know that blood elves and nightborne are part of the horde. But the blood elves were intended to aesthetically contrast the rest of the horde (in part to make them more appealing to players who otherwise didn’t want to play the faction at all) and the race is also well-known for having a split in which some stayed with the alliance, so I don’t think it’s unreasonable to consider them a fringe group in the narrative.
