I am not going to search out that link again for you. Scroll up.
Hint: it was probably the one you were lawyering the word “may” with. No doubt you will also attempt to lawyer the word “intended”, or “designed for”. Of course you conveniently added the word “only” to your sentence above.
It would be healthy for you to admit that you are simply addicted to arguing, and nothing you have posted has been done in good faith.
I’m curious what violation was committed that would lead Blizzard to uphold the squelch since they have stated that using /trade for things not chat related is NOT a violation.
Is having a civilized, polite conversation in any channel “spamming”? Is it using “foul language”? Is it “trolling”?
IMO, it is none of those things. That is only my opinion.
Again, though, the final decision is up to Blizzard.
Wish I still had my post up full of quotes from the Blizzard founders that had actual quotes from their characters on the everquest forum but sadly it was right click reported away. I would post the video again but instead of getting another 2 day ban for triggering people who don’t like bad words I will just implore people to look up “10 Reasons why Vanilla WoW Is the BEST!” by Classic Winds at around 10 minutes.
After going to this and listening for about 20 seconds after the 10 min mark, tell me where wow would be now if the founders were squelched for their passionate posts way back in EQ long before WoW was a glimmer in their eye?
That’s right, it wouldn’t exist. Moderation is defiantly necessary to a game but so is socialization. Restricting what people say completely limits the social environment and turns the player base into emotionless robots in chat rooms instead of actual characters in this Massively Multiplayer Online experience.
Im not saying people should be allowed to be racists, pedophiles, or hate speech. Im saying that people shouldn’t feel like they are walking on eggshells every time they drop the F word or feel the imminent doom of being banned every time they enter a hostile competitive environment. The game should feel like an escape from reality where you can be yourself because that’s what the original wow community was. Not some highly restricted AI moderated heap of anguish where the real trolls are the ones sitting on their high horse waiting with their 4 other friends for someone to make a comment in trade chat that doesn’t involve trade so they can have him banned for 28 days.
You have demonstrated that you are one of the internet/game lawyers that no matter what is written, will attempt to corrupt what is clearly intended by nitpicking. You are exactly the type of player they speak of when they say they do not want to give too much info, as you will attempt to game the system.
I am not the one who ignores Blizzard’s own statements that using /trade for non trade related chat is NOT a violation. I am not the one who continually tries to twist words such as “MAY” and “CAN” into “WILL”.
not a very nice thing to say. lets argue about it. hehe
/dodges the incoming critical review of my character, deftly hiding behind words like may and intended, tossing them a protective veneer to withstand the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, then invites may for a tango!
Why do you hate free speech so much? Like third time you mocked people that support it in this thread. If we had it your way I’m sure it wouldn’t exist at all.
You cannot be online/logged in when game is changing your user account permissions. It DCs you specifically because that’s required to apply a squelch/silence to your account.
Except without cross realm garbage covering everyone in anonymity via blending into the crowd, you actually do recognize, many, or even most of your server in an authentic vanilla environment. It’s the entire reason blacklists work in vanilla… and why guilds took any accusations of ninja looting by one of their members -VERY- seriously…
Why do u people want so badly to be able and punish others for being hurt.
Why? Who cares? If some one is spouting racial slurs in chat /ignore and done, Why? do u want to have him/her be banned, why do u want to play police or social justice warrior? I really don’t get it.
^Hoping for this. I feel like there are people out there who will intentionally try to make classic a bad experience for as many people as possible, in an attempt to “prove” that classic is a failure. I hope blizz is ready to deal with these kinds of people because the community will probably not be able to do everything.
Barrens chat is usually better than the forums. The forums are full of angry neckbeards who aren’t playing, so the tone of the conversation is always taking a turn south.
female here. mom of 3. wife of one. no beard. no basement. worked hard. was on the dean’s list and president’s list in college. and i dont think auto squelch is a good idea.
/gently removes the stereotype stamp from your hand, drops it on the floor and kicks it out the door.
When we talk about this lets not forget that Blizzard originally had actual humans working for them, they were called gms. They answered in around 1-2 hours and solved those problems based on proof.
In a time where the hame had way more players than today, the hardware for blizzard was more expensive, they had to develop the game and still only wanted 15 bucks for it.
But for some reason some people in here think they need to defend blizzards greed for whatevet reason.
I remember back saying to me and others: Well, yes, it does cost a monthly fee, but you get great customer support and so on for it.
But now… lets support a system thats heartless automated and happens to sometimes punish the innocent, cause it saves blizzard money and doesnt add anything positive besides that.
