Okay, you got me. I should have said silence, not squelch. Doesn’t change that I already said I’m okay with the system that existed in TBC.
Sooooo, you are OK with the squelch but not the GM initiated silence?
There’s so much misinformation and trolling going around that you people can’t even argue in a proper circle. it’s like a heptagon or something.
No, it doesn’t break down. The player reports are the accusation. Police->Courts is all Blizzard. You’re arguing semantics which is pointless.
And has been explained many, many, many, many times by myself and others, the Squelch is NOT. A. PUNISHMENT. The punishment is the Silence and that always requires a GM’s direct intervention. So please stop spreading lies and misinformation.
Yes, you’re just not that important.
Nope. Wrong. I explained this above. Just because you disagree does not mean anything. The system has been in place for almost 12 years now and has a proven track record. Blizzard is not going to omit it. Sorry.
Exactly. In the absence of proof, you fail to reject the null. We fail to reject the null of no abuse. Get over it.
By your logic Windows should be removed.
I was not aware that your opinion trumped Blizzards statements and policies that using /trade for things other than chat relater to trade is NOT a violation.

You shouldn’t be afraid to talk in trade, but perhaps stick to actual trade related talk there. If you want to chant your own name, maybe do that in guild, or a party of friends. If your chat is considered as spam by the denizens of your realm they will report it as such. Sorry.
LOL, they throw that bias around for some really silly stuff now.
IMO they should relax a little; too many high strung over sensitive power hungry people now days.
If some one can’t take a little harshness then they should not be on the internet, hell they shouldn’t even leave their moms basement for that matter…
The people who use a circular argument are incapable of a real one… Besides, the absence of evidence is not the evidence of absence.
You you really ought to consider that not everyone is a power hungry basement dweller who’s only source of reality is the local safe space, er I mean college campus.
And your point?
That players can report you?
Players can report you for almost anything.
The final call, though is up to Blizzard.
We have at least one poster that has all but openly admitted that he plans to knowingly abuse the right click report system to attempt squelch anyone that uses /trade in a manner he does not like, even though Blizzard hascrepearedly stated that such use is NOT a violation. He has also indicated that he plans to try to hide that abuse by cowering in the “grey area”.
The final decision is up to Blizzard. I suspect that unless Timmy was committing an actual violation, any squelch would be overturned. If Bobby is found to be contributing to the squelching of an inordinate number of players who never broke any rules, he may very well end up on the receiving end of Blizzards actions.
I have a whole guild of players who’re presently strategizing the most effective way to game that system…
It’s something I am and a few others in guild dislike greatly, but I also understand why they are doing the research; because we’re not the only ones who would use this system in that way.
It’s very unfortunate, because I really don’t want to be in a game where players can abuse others like that… DDOS is not cool and that’s what this system does both effectively and metaphorically to a player afflicted by it.
People don’t see this in modern WoW because it’s a single player game with real players along side for garnish.
Sounds like fiction to me.
Why wasn’t this abuse rampant in The Burning Crusade? Was that version of WoW a single player game too?
I saw guild banks abused first hand, at least the system of it. There was no insurance provided by Blizzard, that’s for sure.
If they have legit access then the loot and materials are as good as theirs; regardless of guild policies.
I thought we were talking about the auto-squelch? I’m asking why it wasn’t abused in The Burning Crusade.
I know that the Squelch system was not in place in Vanilla, and from what I remember it was not in TBC or Wrath, but I could be very wrong.
I thought It was added in Cata or later. Do you know when they added it?
They added the auto-squelch from right-click player reports in May of 2007.
perhaps you missed the part where he said some people in his own guild are already strategizing how to use it to their advantage in classic.
Unfortunately true, and I honestly don’t recall that system being part of TBC or Wrath.
ill do a little digging, I think Galdor may be on to something, but also mislead by the patch notes at the same time??
No, I’m 100% positive that the auto-squelch from right-click player reporting was added in May of 2007.
