There's no reason not to have Dual Spec

I take it you’re back from your ban, then?

Tell us about your forum vacation while the pro Dual Spec thread gets bumped.

I’ll be watching this video while I pretend to have a conversation with you:

For sure, and the bottleneck for all of this remains the same: gear availability.

If I had to choose between healing as a Feral spec in full Resto gear vs Resto spec in full Feral gear, I’d choose the former in a heartbeat. Gear is just too important.

Hell as a Druid I could probably do a good job since I don’t have to spec Resto to access Lifebloom, which is our bread and butter right now.

This was the big question in my head. “What’s better, a player in full off role gear but still main spec; or a player in a pure spec without proper gear?” If gear is really more impactful to performance than spec then I think you’re right that people would care less about morphing their raids boss to boss.

Oh yeah if that’s what you were wondering, no questions asked, gear trumps spec in almost every regard unless you absolutely need a talent-based spell.

Trying to think of what that would be.

The warrior I’m gearing, I’ve decided to try this “Kebab” thing that I saw here on the forums. I don’t think my raid needs Blood Frenzy, but it’s nice to have regardless.

Yeah I’m actually kinda keen on trying it out, my Warrior is already Human and I’d have a reason to go BS-Swords.

I’m thinking something like maybe a non-Feral trying to Tank and lacking Mangle? But we’re talking ideal gear in bad spec vs ideal spec in bad gear, so even something like a Holy Paladin going full BiS Ret gear is probably better DPS than full SP gear and access to Crusader Strike.

Would be an interesting study to see what matters the most from class to class and spec to spec.

They could just make it so people can’t respec while in raids, or that they have to go back to Capital Cities to respec. There could be a cooldown or something. It could be implemented in a way that wouldn’t allow it to be abused by sweaty players.

But in reality, if you’re in that kind of guild it’s a choice mate. It really is. There are plenty of “serious enough” guilds out there that aren’t sweaty try hards but also aren’t just messing around wasting time. There’s a balance.

It kind of sounds like the real problem is that you choose to play with a group of incredibly serious players that expect quite a lot out of their players. If you’re playing with that sort of group, the chances are they would require you to have an offset of gear regardless of Dual Spec being implemented. Because there are many cases where yes, right now, sweaty guilds want their Paladins to have multiple sets because even if they aren’t specced properly, as long as they have the gear on they can do a half decent job at that role.

It’s also something that I’ve noticed quite a lot, I mean, it’s hard to still be raiding Karazhan at this point and not have at least a partial offset built up. Again, I started two weeks late in TBC, I leveled from 1 - 70 without any assistance, I was fresh on Herod. When I hit 70 I spent a good week grinding gold to get my epic flyer and some BOE gear. Then I spent a week grinding out exalted in a couple of the dungeon factions for some of my BiS gear. Then I decided I’d look for a guild, because I felt “behind the curve” as at that point many guilds had been in Kara for a few weeks or a month. I have almost a full Enhancement set and I’m missing two pieces from my Resto set ( The Totem from Maiden has been MIA. )

I’m not a try hard. I’m fairly damned casual actually.

You like us bear tanks that keep cat gear for when we are not actively tanking? Might as well quit, the game is already broken…

Also in the original iteration of dual spec you could only do it in a city.

That would solve most of the arguments that are made against Dual Spec.

there is NO reason to have dual spec

if you cant afford 50g when a 1 potion sells for 60 then go play retail

Sure there is, convenience.

Yup, because Dual Spec = Unlimited

Right?

The produalspec crowd conveniently forgot in classic 60 before chronobeacons at the end, we had worldbuffs so mains were raidlogged after they got their buffs for the next raid. Many of them leveled alts as their farmers. Or simply couldn’t play the game if they were raiding days were back to back.

Too bad you produalspec crowd didn’t do the same. Go boost you a hunter herb/miner/farmer and chut up already.

To the “it will help the tank shortage” nah. there’s like 2 crafted boe plate epics for tanking with no threat stats. the crafted blues are crap for heroics because they have 0 threat stats. so will need kara gear to run epics without dps pulling aggro everytime they sneeze in heroics.

Gearing up a tank isn’t as easy as a clothie that can be insta-heroic ready with gold. Hanging up my tank set on my druid for ezpz epix: windhawk bracers, whitemend hood/pants, and made my mooncloth set. From 0 tank epics to 6 healing epics in a couple hours of leveling up tailoring. So close to earthwarden, yet so far…

There’s badge gear for tanking but that depletes your badges saved for SWP, how many DPSers you know will throw away their badges just to get tank gear to tank for toxic-af DPSers? If you find any, I have a piece of coal ill sell them for the low price of 100,000 gold.

Yes, since there is no dual spec, I log on to tank for a raid and then I log off.
