There's been a bunch of threads, you know what this is about, and something needs to change

One of the best parts about the unanswered questions in WoW is that you can make the answers up yourself! Just assume what you like to think about the characters and make it your own story however you see it. I like to do that personally and often makes the characters and stories more interesting to me. It’s our escape world, everybody is here for fun and to get our minds off the real world. Whatever the problems plaguing you or the thoughts are that bring you down, you can forget maybe just for a little bit and enjoy your time in game.

It’s what I enjoy the most about WoW.

It can be whatever it needs to be for anyone imo.

I’m Bi and personally I’m getting sick of the threads. I think that if you wanna add in a holiday/a tabard or a mount a charity thing WHATEVER, then fine great good fantastic. However you and I both know that we don’t need 10 topics about it in a week. I don’t need to be told that im supposed to feel left out, oppressed, that i need a safe space. I don’t need to be told that i should feel less than my straight brothers and sisters because of some truly crappy people and history in this world. I have never ever had an issue associating myself with people that are accepting of me in my entirety. I don’t remind them I’m bi on a daily/weekly basis as some kinda test to make sure I’m still accepted. This entire nonsense is garbage and needs to end. If someone in my life cant deal with gay folks i just cut them out, simple as that.

I’m not an expert or do I have any real knowledge in regards to the LGBT community but hasn’t their fight been to be recognized and included into society and not for the purpose of separating them selves into their own little safe world ?

To me these threads come off as the OPs asking for the latter instead of the former.

Yeah it has been, and we do. Fact is most of WoWs characters are undefined. Be it it straight gay or trans. It’s just assumed that most are straight. We’ve been getting more and more added in. Such as Pelagos/the two meeses in ardenweald. We shouldn’t expect to trip over an lgbtq character after every corner tho.

And a few of these posts/replies have been asking for things like our own space/forums. Like wtf thats entirely counter to being included.

Do you remember the High Elf spam a couple years ago? How rampant that crap was? It eventually spread into two megathreads with well reasoned ideas for and against. We need a well put together thread for the LGBT community as a link to blizzard instead of breeding the topics like rabbits.

Every single character that isn’t stated to have a child in lore is now gay and trans.

Why do you assume they are straight? That’s very offensive to all of these gay characters and you are trying to say they don’t pass or something? Every single character in wow is trans and you have not been recognizing their true identity, please be more sensitive in the future.

Perceiving characters that have no stated romantic entanglement as straight is just as likely for them to be gay, your sisnormative view of them does not make them not who they are

There… I out-virtue-flagged you!

Op,tell you the truth after the 15th thread on the matter I give up not going there and wouldn’t talk about it any more because it’s impact is now boring as well less meaningful.

Moonguard should have enough inclusion you would need for any groups you wish to participate in

People care because they get sick and tired of the constant threads. They get sick and tired of feeling like things are being forcibly shoved down their throats. That the LGBT community is trying to force acceptance at this point.

I get thats not what you’re trying to do and I do agree that the hate just needs to stop, but the hate will stop when the overabundance of people asking for representation (or what I believe to be straight up pandering) to stop. People are pushing back because they’re sick and tired of having it shoved down their throats.

This is coming from a member of the LGBT community who has sat down and talked with people. Most of the time they don’t care if someone is gay or not, they care that they feel like people are trying to FORCE acceptance.

Honestly. What script are you all reading off of? It’s like the same five responses mixed and matched together - with that lovely phrase tossed in like sprinkles. It’s getting to the point where it doesn’t even matter what the rest of it is, once I see that, I pretty much know what the rest of it means.
Btw, nobody’s forcing acceptance, we’re just rather tired of waiting hun.

(The reason these threads are staying up instead of being lost to the forums is because of the 90+ people who can’t handle the goshdarn idea of it.)

Im just tired of people screaming about it in others faces.
If you scream in someones face, they will like you less.
It’s been over a decade since I faced any hate towards who I am; Be it for my “Genderfluid”(I dont care about labels) behaviour and personality, or for my Autism, or for whatever I am.
Those who ever do say anything negative are just dumb people.
They would spit on a kitten.

Humans are a problem but screaming in peoples faces, people who sincerely accept you for who you are and just want to play a game; just makes things worse.

Instead focus on those who spread active hate towards groups, and get put in the game as some dedicated NPC - aka praised.
THAT is something to scream about, as that is praising bad behaviour.
(And this is ACTUALLY happening, Maldraxxus Order Hall has one wandering around)

Nobody in game is represented to hate on a sexuality or gender or mental health problem of any sort.
If someone personally says something bad, ask them why - if they continue, report them.

A lot of stuff is also missunderstandings, lack of education or generally just bad communication.

I am just tired of the screaming, it makes even ME annoyed at these sort of things, and I am - PART - of these groups that you try to “protect” or “include”.

I, like Korolak, am sick & tired of all the “in your face”, “screaming” about this whole situation.

I get that people want to be included for whatever reason (LGBTQ, vertically challenged, heritage/ancestry, etc). They want something in the game they can associate with. Even I’d like to see a few things in the game, but not from my lifestyle, race, religion, disabilities… but actual usable stuff (gear, mounts, pets, cross faction communication)

I will make it easy for you.

LGBT+ in game < game stays as is

^^^^^ there is the battle as far as WoW is concerned. It just don’t have a place in the fantasy world of WoW end of story

I mean hey. She-ra did a good job of it. You can still have a story with some pretty heavy conflict and still include some queer rep.

WoW’s pretty detatched from it’s characters - tbh I think the fact we’re seeing a lot of a “main cast” appearing in SL means we might get more chances for story development.

There is nothing that’s been ruined by queer rep. The only it’s seen as a problem is that some people don’t want to see it period.

Considering Pelagos exists, you could just headcanon every Kyrian as trans if you wanted.

I mean, running with that, you could even headcannon anyone in the Shadowlands as trans.
I mean…I’d bet the house of constructs doesn’t really even has a concept of gender as something stable.
And the Venthyr? Pending on how they feel about themselves, looks might be changed drastically over time.

You can also headcanon almost every character in the game as trans because body magic exists :woman_shrugging:

I don’t really want Blizzard doing LGBTQ stories for the same reason I don’t want them to do pretty much any story with weight to it; they kinda suck at it.

That’s honestly a fair point. Allllthoughhhhhhh they did do a really good job with that little flynn/shaw note. That made me smile inside. :relaxed: So…maybe it just depends on how long those stories are in the oven!

I think they can handle small things like that pretty okay. I think doing a quest to get an NPC a gender change potion or something could be neat. The Ardenweald couple was okay, but gay unicorn kind of irked me for some reason.

Look at how they handle a weighty story, though, and you get moustache-twirling Sylvanas committing genocide. I almost feel like any sort of LGBTQ inclusion there would just be offensive.

Oh I 100% agree. Blizz does little moments really really well. Runas still gets me every time I play through that.

Honestly, just talking about overall story quality, I think their best big production was Suramar, and the Argus campaign. There were some great emotional beats in there.

This is what most people do, sometimes understandably, with max influx of troll threads that are made to annoy the people with the hope of ruining future serious threads about the topic.

The trolls sadly now has ruined rhe forums, when someone wants to bring legitimate issues, not only about lgbtq+ but from gameplay problems to racism an bigotry ingame.
