There's a reason they call it LFR

I had a few things on my mind that I wanted to bring up because of some things I have seen recently that I think need to be discussed.

I have 3 marksman hunters and a shamen (2 dwafens a night elf and a human-all alliance) that I play regularly, there is also a mage that is an endless source of frustration to keep alive but I keep him around for crafts. At one point there was almost a druid but he was deleted at the hog farm in Drustvar cause I couldn’t keep him alive either.

May 17th, as I tried to work all my guys through LFR on Vault of the Incarnates I watched 16 complete wipes as the day went on. There were leaders and tanks complaining about “the mechanics” that nobody seems to be doing, it was pretty obvious to me that Blizz had tweaked things for the weekend because I had done one the night before that went completely normal.

I think people (and blizz) need to keep in mind that everyone has variables and different talent levels and this is not mythics or PVP, this is LFR and we are working on our gear too, for some its about the storyline and for some its about the stats.

For some of us we are just lucky to be there and hang on, reason I say this gets personal.

I only have 3 fingers on my left hand and a modified mouse on my right…

I am not asking for sympathy or help, this was out of my control and i have learned to get through life pretty normally.

So I never learned how to actually type correctly, there was no way I could. I worked extremely hard to develop my own talent tree that works for me and no I don’t use macros cause I cant type well enough to construct them and all the copy/paste ones available online will not work for me either and I am strictly single target focus all brute force. Ctl or alt whatever don’t work for me cause there’s no way to do both buttons at once with the same hand. I developed my own key bindings that work for me. Sorry if I miss an interrupt or some other thing, there’s not enough fingers for all that. I think I have done fairly well getting to where I am and I am content with that. Piling up dead NPC’s isn’t a bad habit to have, however I get it done. I may not be the fastest or deadliest thing on the floor but I’ll make sure you get home ok…

I have this thing about Qalashi’s and blue nightflame drakes… wish I had one for a mount actually (see this blizz?) Either way I usually leave a trail of dead ones when I am there and I am proud of that.

Most raids I usually rank somewhere between 5th and 15 and I am happy with that. I know I will never be able to do PVP or mythics and that’s ok. It is rather disheartening to see Blizz constantly pushing the two of them hard and I get it but hey Blizz, leave some meat on the bones for the rest of us.

When I am not in LFR raids I am usually at the suffusion camp or the citadel seeing how many bodies I can pile up and I work alone. I don’t expect anyone to mop up anything I start, and if I start something and die that’s on me. When not doing quests I am working on crafting top armor and building my guys.

All I am saying is for those of you that do mythics regularly when you come to LFR leave all that at the door. The other night someone said “form ranks” and I watched the room and nobody did anything different. I thought to myself since I do have some military in my background “how do you want them and where?” These people don’t know anything about that. Most of them are lucky to survive to the end and maybe get a piece of gear with a bit of luck on a roll.

I am not asking anyone to make any exceptions and I am not asking for help, I am just reminding everyone that this is a world where everyone behind the screen could be any age or talent level and on any kind of machine or web quality. Don’t expect miracles, this is LFR and you get the luck of the draw. I wish Blizz would remember that too.

Some training classes in world would be wonderful. You tube isn’t a solution unless you have all 10 fingers and understand the mechanics of how it works. I do and I am doing the best I can.

See you at the camp… sign me Jtsharp, Ernieripper or Jonthewiser or the name at the start of this.

I agree with you dude , there is a reason it’s LFR and people should treat it as such.
Play the game how you like, and enjoy!

Pretty sure LFR wouldn’t exist if they didn’t.

Hot Take

LFR is too hard, should be back to the way it was during cata/mop where it was borderline impossible to fail and like 3 competent players could clear the entire thing

They’ve made DPSing too complicated in my opinion, it’s wrecking the entire game.

When people complain about any type of bloat at all, it’s 100% the over engineered specs causing most of the complaints. You can have a class have a billion buttons, the problem is when you weave every single button into their rotation as if the devs intend on people being in-court stenographers, typing until our hands implode.
It’s dumb, I think they’ve added way too many layers into PVE classes.

You mean like it is now?

No it’s bad players wanting classic level braindead gameplay.

Classes aren’t bloated.

See that one I don’t remember.

The last half of DS was just a nightmare on LFR lol.

I remember the phase dragon at the top where LFR and lugs ran into a train wreck

Ultraxion and all the stupid abilities you had to do lol

Which is why I make it a point to go visit him once a month just for the satisfaction of insta killing him.

Ok, so I may hold a teeny tiny grudge… now and then.

I might have a list. :innocent:

Maybe your class isn’t, but Enhancement shaman is stupidly bloated. The main DPS rotation is 10-12 keybinds, that doesn’t include regularly used utility, interrupts/CC, or defensive. Include those and at a minimum you have 16-20 keybinds. Tack on lesser used utility and it’s around ~24.I’d wager your average player can handle ~12 keybinds and the rest are getting clicked. On top of that it’s melee so you’re constantly on the move and the rotation is more of a priority whackamole system so you need to pay attention to what’s up, what proc’d(at least 4 to monitor), and what’s coming off cooldown all while dodging swirlies and paying attention to what mechanics are about to happen. It makes complicated fights completely unenjoyable because you can’t concentrate on mechanics or your rotation leaving you to either get hit by stuff or do low damage, neither of which feels good.

It’s not classic players wanting braindead gameplay, it’s average players wanting enjoyable gameplay. The problem is there are two ways of making it happen, either rotations need to be easier with less required keybinds so players can focus on the fights, or fights need to be easier so players can focus on their rotation. Personally, I think staring at buttons waiting for them to be off cooldown or proc isn’t engaging gameplay so I’d opt for less complicated rotations. Some specss will need big changes and others none at all. I also think spell indicators need an overhaul so that you can change their color so we don’t en up with purple on slightly lighter purple on slightly darker purple that’s all covered by black spell effects.

Hit the nail on the head. Which is why I NOPED away from my Outlaw Rogue even though I love the fantasy and most things about it.

Blizzard didn’t tweak anything, all the raiders who wanted to try and score a piece of tier before their raid did so before their raid. These people knew the fights because they had done them back in season 1 and/or researched them for their upcoming raid so they knew what to do.
On the weekend all that was left was the non raiders who either didn’t do vault back in season 1 or forgot the mechanics of each boss and don’t care to look things up in advance because “It’s lfr, you don’t need to know fights.” So you get people falling into the pit on Sennarth, tanks putting the boss on the adds on Broodkeeper, and people getting blown off the platform on Raz. All things that could be avoided if lfr was treated like a raid rather than a random dungeon.

What are those things
