yea this is part of the problem, as op said their goal on the alliance side was to use teldrassil as a cause for us to hate the horde, however it appears they forgot we needed AN ENJOYABLE PAYOFF, darkness induced apathy is a thing this is not the first time the night elves get kicked in the teeth why should i care what happens to them if all those guys do is kill night elves? not worth the emotional investment.
