There Should be Requirements For New Players Before Tanking A Dungeon

Its been said more than once across GD that if they added rewarding solo progression A: people would’nt do it. or B: raiders would feel required to do it. So it shouldnt be added and you know that because you’ve read and posted in most of the threads. Im not saying you are the one making all the claims but you know darn well its been said frequently.

But they have this content. Cypher gear in ZM is that. Korthia had 233s, as good as Normal Sylvannas loot. BfA had Horific Visions (which proved the “people wouldn’t do it” part since self titled casuals don’t have the “Mad World” FoS).

And people would like the game to add more content like these things in the future, yeah ZM added solo gear but was hardly engaging content. As for Mad Titan maybe like me they werent here for that. I know if I had been around I would have done it but I wasnt playing then.

Waycrest manor is a sucky dungeon to get when you don’t know which directions to go. Hell I’ve ran that place eleventy billion times and I still get lost. And how exactly would you expect a tank to get experience with tanking without just queueing up and running the dungeon.

But now you speedsters wont even leave new players alone to learn in leveling dungeons without this go go go everything is a race mentality and thats the part thats just sad

Im going to say something you guys love saying to us all the time, just make your own group. If you want your leveling dungeons to be done super fast and ultra efficient make your own group. Dont queue into random leveling dungeons and then get upset because new players are in there trying to learn.

Please make people make 500 posts before allowing them to start a topic. Less of this garbage.

In theory the scaling mythic dungeons really were a great addition to the game but adding the timers was terrible for the game. Its breeding this mentality that everything needs to be a speed run and if you dont hurry you need to just stop and get out of everyone’s way.

Well if it’s a pug dungeon then you are asking for a random set of players who may be good and they may not.

Unless you are one of the top players you could also get a really outstanding tank who is much better than you. If that happens do you say “I’m not worthy” and excuse yourself?

No it’s a game. And it’s also a game people pay to play and even if you do the “no it’s free for me I pay in gold” well you’re still investing time into it. There’s no more valuable resource we have as mortal beings than time.

No one should place requirements on how you spend your free time in a game you likely pay for no less.

Besides the cream rises to the top of you are very competitive in the game you’ll naturally seek out guilds or at least other players that play at that level.

If you join rando pugs I think you have to expect a more relaxed bar.

OP You need to learn to communicate with your tank better.

Use Markers, Lead the way and pull mobs to the tank.

Alternatively, new players should not be put into bfa dungeons

Agreed. Talking to my son about wanting to tank about during bfa, (he’s played since 12 yrs. old, Warcraft I to BFA) and told me technically Tanks don’t have to lead a dungeon. I could say that I was learning or haven’t learned the dungeon enough and that was okay. Maybe the times changed the idea or it has just been a given.

First when Ive been in à dungeon most people, 88 % of players are nice. But I have to read chat to see if I’m being told i need to do something I didn’t know.

How are people supposed to learn how to tank then?

It is not even remotely surprising to me that the same faces who are constantly in other threads dunking on casual players are in this thread making people feel bad for not knowing the game enough as they do.

OP would hate FFXIV lol. He’d the 1 single person in FFXIV where he would not be helpful or accepting of new player in leveling dungeons.

That’s 1 reason tanks are so few nowadays…they get bullied out of learning in LEVELING dungeons too.

What about healers and DPS?

I’ve seen a lot of low effort from them as well.

Dude, that ship sailed in patch 1.10, with the first “Mythic+” grand daddy introduced in the game : A Deadman’s Plea.

People were speed running dungeons, which is why Blizzard introduced Challenge Modes that turned into Mythic+, not the other way around.

Low effort is not a role thing. It’s a people thing. Some people just don’t care, no matter the role they play and force the 4 other peeps in the dungeon to carry their weight.

I was in a dungeon in FFXIV where we wiped 6 times because the tank was new to tanking and wasn’t sure how to properly manage his CDs. Everyone was super chill and we all ended up having a great time anyways.

Compared to WoW, where clowns are setting up curriculums and guidelines for what a tank needs to do before they even dare to think about tanking. WoW players will never cease to amaze me with their unbridled toxicity.

Pretty sure the difference being that people in leveling dungeons in FFXIV aren’t super vets with max level toons since you don’t need to reroll each time you want to swap classes.
