Theory as to what the Old Gods set in motion

So, as we know we have “Defeated” the Old Gods…beings of infinite truths…rather easily at that…almost as if, they planned it, but why? It’s safe to assume that their absence in shadowlands means their not done yet
Now if jump to the writing, its clear with the focus on N’Zoth that it’s safe to assume he is the mastermind behind this plan, a plan he had to put on hold once he was aware of Zovaal’s scheme, which is first hinted at with the whisper “It grows hungrier, bolder” as Zovaal was following the will of death, which members of it’s faction aided with, so it’s safe to assume that simply because people are born under a factions ideal, they will not follow all it’s plans mindlessly, this would then hold true for the other 5 cosmic powers (Life, Light, Order, Disorder, Shadow)
Then we have been getting these cosmic charts, charts that through studying we can deduce many beings cannot simply consist of 1 power, they must be comprised of a combination of elemental and cosmic powers except of 2…the Naaru and the Void lords, why is this important? it means the pantheons of every other faction outside light and shadow will consist of beings from both sides, if we look back to legion this holds true with the titan’s pantheon, Aman’thul being Light + Order + Air, While Khaz’Gorath being Order + Fire + Earth, meaning these combinations can occur any number of ways.
So if we hold the above true to other beings, it should be able to be applied to the Old Gods, which is Indeed true

  • Y’Shaarj would likely be Shadow + Disorder + Fire, Almost mirroring another familiar fellow, Sargeras, a being of Light + Disorder + Fire
  • Yogg-Saron likely consisted of Shadow + Earth + Life, this of course being due to his creation of the curse of flesh, allowing him to warp earth to flesh
  • C’Thuun being so old likely was never designed with this in mind, however if i were to pin it based of deduction, C’Thuun likely represented Shadow + Air + ?, again C’Thuun is so old idk what else he would be
  • G’huun is fairly new, but nonetheless represents an unholy abomination of these powers, and wild for an Old God, being comprised of Shadow + Decay + Order, what G’huun truly does is give us an idea for how these beings come into fruition, decaying old god flesh being tested on with what we can only assume was order magic, created G’huun
  • This will leave the final member of the Old God patheon N’Zoth, he is kinda intersting, as he is “The weakest” of his kin but seems to be the most cunning aswell, every thought and action calculated, which could mean, he consists of Shadow + Water + Order

Now onto the juicy bit, what do i believe N’Zoths plan is? Well we saw back in BFA wrathion clearly stabs N’Zoth with the black blade, this is when N’Zoth transfers his soul into the blade, leaving his body to run rampant with will of the black blood for us to deal with…this of course is a facade, the Old Gods planning to become something more, we already have a good idea of what is going on, One is battling for control of Beledar, Another intends to fuse with Elun’Ahir, what the others plan im not sure, but N’Zoth, he aims for something far greater, he intends to fuse himself with Azeroth, and it is through the black blade we will unwittingly make it happen, bringing it near the prime world soul to stop Xal’atath

Side notes via Edit

  • Beledar was very close to proximity to Y’Shaarj, potentially meaning he has already corrupted the arathi emperor through beledar (which is why he was having those visions), which when you consider the pandaria timeline, that would likely be right around the time the Arathi of Hallowfall set sail to find Beledar
  • A thought on order and disorder, we seen through Sargeras that shadow can influence disorder, through fel, perhaps the reverse is true with order and light? which could mean through the death of G’huun (who i mentioned earlier is Order + Decay + Shadow), the light formed its bargain to raise the dead? perhaps we accidently went overboard with that cleansing laser and accidentally light forged the artifical Old God
  • Another Idea, assuming N’Zoth did slip up and we did kill him in BFA, what would cause N’Zoth to suddenly act so frantically? The answer, G’huun, perhaps his rot spread deeper then we anticipated, and even now the old gods are acting on borrowed time

There is an emerging theory that the Old Gods have free will because of Azeroth. I think Void/Life makes sense for pretty much all of them, given all of them seem to be sentient corruptive tumors.

perhaps, and perhaps they may even be the ones that save us from renilash come Midnight, but for no we can only theroize, and tbh out of all of them, the only one i could see contesting the light directly would be Y’Shaarj, meaning the shadow of beledar is likely being caused by that specific old god, but we will have to see,
A small note, if you look at the world map of Azeroth, and pandaria’s proximity to Khaz algar, and to where the shas corruption is at its worse, its very likely Y’shaarji’s soul traveled through the black blood directly to beledar, he only needed someone to destroy his heart and create a path for him (Garrosh/Deathwing)
Y’shaarj could also explain why Beledar is producing shadow elementals, if we jump back to pandaria and look at the sha corruption, it can be assumed Y’Shaarj’s elemental influence was likely very strong, as even his corrupion blazes with white flame

It being the blood of Y’shaarj would make the most sense, since his remnants seem to feed on negative emotions. I’m still unsure on what Beledar is exactly. I’m still betting on it being tied to naaru. The Radiant Song might just be a “haha, I’m in danger” before it permanently shifts into Void. We know Xal’atath is involved, we know Locus Walker is aware of who or what she is, and we know The Radiant Song preceded Dimensius emerging on K’aresh.

I am still confident Beledar and the song are not extensions of Azeroth. If anything, they seem to be drowning out Azeroth’s voice (thus why it took considerable effort for Magni to even receive a message).

the old gods were actually good except cthun
yogg saron was retaliating against brann coming into his lair too far

I think the “Old Gods” were the “Progenitors” we heard about in Shadowlands. IE: Literally the “old” Gods. Their motivation is to take Creation back from the Titans, who are their rebelling offspring. Sort of like Greek Mythos with the Titans and Olympians.

That would be plausible. If the old gods weren’t a creation of the Void Lords, who wanted to corrupt any worldsoul they could get their hands on

It 100% is tied to the naaru, plus Y’Shaarj being fire element, he would be the most capable of corrupting beings of the light with beledar being connected to the sacred flame (and potentially the sunwell), or perhaps, Y’Shaarj intends to make a bargain with the light

see thats the thing, we don’t even know if they follow the will of the void anymore, as the void embraces all possiblites, perhaps that was a part of N’Zoths plan, as N’Zoth was closest to the world soul of Azeroth, he likely may have been influenced by it

Maybe the Void Lords are also “Old Gods” ?

I wouldn’t say that, i feel the old gods better mirror the titans, just as the wild gods mirror the death gods, with the void lords and naaru mirroring each other
Perhaps there is an entire power struggle between the old gods and void lords on the path of the void

Or rather the Void Lords are the First Gods with the Old Gods coming after them and the Eternal Gods coming after them and the Titans being the generation after them.

So in chronological order it’s First Gods/Void Lords > Old Gods > Eternal Gods > Titans > Elemental Lord Demigods > Titan Keepers > Wild God Demigods > Aspects > Primal Incarnates > Magnaron & Genesaurs > Demigods that aren’t Elemental Lords, Wild Gods, Magnaron or Genesaurs(I.E. the Lich King, Archimonde, Kil’jaeden, Azshara, Nhal’athoth and Ordos).

Titans are on the same level of power as the First Gods(Void Lords) at their maximum potential(Sargeras) and at the same level as the weakest of Old Gods(G’huun) as well as your average Eternal God(Denathrius) as well as a Primal Incarnate at their weakest potential(Argus and Aggramar).

Primal Incarnates and Aspects surpass Titan Keepers and Demigods and reach the level of the Lesser Gods in power.

Titans especially the Prime World Soul rival the power of even the Greater Gods despite not being Gods themselves.
