Theory about Khadgar and Xal

The thing is we were being told Zovaal was a chessmaster but never ever shown it - and all his chessmaster moves required insane, setting breaking chains of retcons to even fit.

FWIW maybe Khadgar was basically supposed to be a shadow bomb that would go off if he died.

Khadgar could end up being controlled by the Void due to how long he was stuck in for so long.

i mean the dark heart is yet another bs nonsense macguffin, i don’t see why it couldn’t just spit out khadgar as arcane energy to throw people off if it suited goth mommy. maybe there’s some snippet of text that indicates it can only emit* void energy, idk, i stopped trying to seriously think about the main plot years ago

Notice what’s missing among the wreckage? the Violet Citadel, the heart of Dalaran’s power, and amidst that explosion was a flash that resembled Dalaran’s teleport.

She didn’t need the whole city.

The cinematic makes it crystal clear that Dalaran was completely obliterated as the power was taken from it, so I agree that this. The reason only a few parts can be seen on the ground is because the majority of the city got turned into gravel.

I’m still of the opinion that if they so completely and thoroughly destroyed Dalaran like this, then that means Dalaran is actually going to stay destroyed this time and never get rebuilt again. No fake outs like part of Dalaran surviving in the Void or the Kirin Tor somehow magically rebuilding the city from literally nothing.

As for the OP, I doubt Xal’atath is possessing Khadgar, though I imagine there’s still a pretty high chance he’s going to die by the end of the Worldsoul Saga.

Quick question, is there a quest with Khadgar that I missed? I saw the cinematic of him getting out and Anduin saving him with the Light. Then I went back to Dornogal and saw Anduin talk with Thrall to finish the campaign.

Was there another quest or anything with Khadgar after that?

No quest but there is a stay awhile and listen in the building where the renown vendor is for the council rep.

Yeah I’m pretty sure I listened to that, but that had nothing to do with Khadgar. Is he just MIA (as far as like being in-game goes) after we saved him? Can we talk to him?

the stay awhile and listen between Alleria and Khadgar has nothing to do with Khadgar?

I might be misremembering but I don’t think there was a stay and listen there? If there was I missed it. I remember the quest telling me to go talk to Anduin and Thrall in Dornogal and they had a stay and listen.

The one between Alleria and Dadghar is in the alliance embassy in Dorgonal

Okay thank you! I never went there so I have not seen that one.

For me it was near the SW portal in the council building where the renown vendor was.

You know what, you’re right. It was. I apparently confused the two buildings for some reason

It’s a very easy thing to do in Dorn.

Khadgar’s return is definitely suspicions and the writers are likely setting something up. Though exactly what will come from it is up in the air.

I think the outcome depends on if Xal’atath worked out what Khadgar had done. If she did she would absolutely take the time to turn him into a sleeper agent. Having a trusted minion in the enemy base is always useful. She also delights in tormenting Alleria and this would be a great way to do it.

Would be kind of funny if it backfired on her. She gets so focused on messing with Alleria that she gets blindsided by a pissed off Turalyon.

What if Xal is impersonating Khadgar?

What if Khadgar was actually the wheelchair?

I don’t think shes impersonating him or left him as some kind of sleeper agent. I think we just got Khadgar back and that’s that.

Neferess, on the other hand…

bruh shoulda stayed dead. the devs can’t trust us to sit with any tension before immediately resolving it

I think the destruction of Dalaran was supposed to be the tension bit. Khadgar’s believed death and then return is a vehicle for Alleria’s story.

I think the issue is that Blizzard overestimated the reaction to Dalaran’s destruction and underestimated the reaction to Khadgar. Khardgar’s ‘death’ overshadowed Dalaran’s destruction so much that he became the focus so much that people kind of just ignored Dalaran. I think Blizzard expected Dalaran to be a gut punch that it really wasn’t.
