“Durr, write dragon expansion bad. Me smart. Good writing. Hurrdurr”
This is what I hear when people complain about the quality of quest text. Especially when they have some belief that it was better in the past.
Plenty of people talk like that. Your post isn’t that differently structured.
Agreed. I miss dialogue like this in WoW (2:40 for direct references). The writing for quest dialogue in classic - WOTLK was truly phenomenal. You can tell it was written by actual fantasy nerds. Todays dialogue feels something more akin to Adventure Time or Steven Universe lol.
Because the writing matches her as a Character that has existed since as far back as Burning Crusade
Well one it is funny to me so you problem and two just cause you don’t find it relatable doesn’t make it bad writing like I didn’t relate to Count Olaf from A Series of Unfortunate Events but it didn’t make the books poorly written nor did it stop me from feeling slightly sympathetic as his tragic past was revealed in the final book.
Chromie talks like that. And kind of always has, barring the couple of appearances where she was implied to be a much older/wiser Chromie, fully grown dragon time. Like her first appearance in vanilla/classic in Andorhal where she was a mysterious shortie who somehow knew all about you, or the Culling of Stratholm, taking her job of ‘correcting time anomalies’ seriously and letting Arthas slaughter civilians.
Every other time she’s just a peppy young dragon doing her best and is full of confidence… Until she’s not because the situation she’s involved with is a bit more serious than it seemed, but still tries to keep in control despite her uncertainty.
