Sekiro is worth it
Ratchet and Clank 2016 was a free dl a month or so ago and it just reminds me of how much I love this series.
Oh this looks great! I recently bought the Collection of Mana but now I need to get this haha.
Bought FTL, Space Haven, Mass Effect (Legendary edition), Moons of Madness, and Hollow Knight.
There’s a theme here and I can almost put my finger on it.
big issue with Sekiro is that shadows definately die more than twice.
Moons of Madness is a treat! Bought it sight unseen and it took me a few hours to realize it was a Secret World spin off game (Knowledge of the Secret World is not required).
bought all three darksiders games for 24 dollars
gotta say im enjoying the first one, though the most recent dungeon definitely overstayed its welcome. im off to eden tomorrow, and hopefully I can get started on Darksiders 2.
Ultimately I really wanna play 3 because Fury really piqued my interest with her whip and elemental modes. That and she looks really cool
Steam Summer sale always draws me in and then I end up with another 10 games that I never play and in some cases, never even install.
I want something new but nothing has jumped out at me yet.
Two is the best of the series imo. 1 was really good at incorporating a bunch of elements of other games into one, but 2 is just all around great. 3 was good, but not my favorite, bit more Darksouls-ish where the first two were more Zelda. I don’t mind Souls, mind you but I just prefer 2 the most thus far. Played a little of Genesis with my wife but not enough to form a solid option other than the controls were abit wonky.
i don’t like the loot system in 2 but everything else is like “Yup, this is Devil May Cry”.
The only issue I had with 2s loot was there was no transmog option and some of the armors I really liked visually and would have liked to keep.
i guess a good way to explain my thoughts on loot system is that
i like it when uhhh, loot is really meaningful and impactful. when you get an upgrade its like “DAMN” and not “oh this stat goes up by 1%!!! epic!”
getting light arrows vs going from green quality gear to blue quality gear
or beating a boss and getting a weapon out of them that’s permanently going to effect how you play the game, and is also just cool. like. idk. killing cerberus and getting ice nunchucks.
So I did end up getting Vermintide 2, and a couple DLCs there in (Plus the Grail Knight career because FOR ZE LADY!).
It’s not really my kind of game, and my computer’s definitely showing its age with how it chugs when the waves of Skavenslaves and Rotbloods start showing on screen. But that’s okay since combat tactics for the Grail Knight is mostly just pointing yourself at the highest concentration of enemies and just aggressively clicking left mouse button.
That said, I’m rather enjoying it. I like to look into the dying days of the World That Was, a swarthy Wood Elf Irish lass just tickles my fancy (Same with the open acknowledgement that Markus is basically just cosplaying as a Grail Knight because outsiders don’t normally get the Grail). Not a huge fan of Packmasters because there’s nothing my character can functionally do to avoid them but that might be just me not figuring them out yet (I’ve managed to figure out Gutter Runners, so I’m leaning towards me not being well enough versed in things yet).
It’s holding my attention more than Hired Gun, at any rate. But not really sure how long I’m going to end up playing it because it is very one note gameplay wise and when you aren’t a social gamer…
Let’s just say the bot teammates’ AI Packages aren’t Perfect Dark level of complexity.
Most matches are pretty quiet, so I’d recommend ditching the bots. They’re incredibly frustrating and make progressing beyond a certain point difficulty-wise impossible because once you get dragged off they won’t care about saving you in time. You can down Packmasters pretty consistently with a headshot if you swing before they do (at least once you have the gear, I’ve noticed on my few Cata runs that they’re a little tougher) but I generally try and leave them to my teammates when I play Grail Knight.
Also, as a fellow Kruber main I have to say you have impeccable taste.
I feel you.
It’s insanely hot here and we don’t believe in AC because it’s illegal to get this hot and I’m going to kill the sun. Anyway I finally started Octopath Traveler since I can sit outside all night with my switch in the common area and it’s really fun! I like that it still has some linear story telling but you can choose how you start and so on. Still very early in the game but I also like that combat is a little challenging, about to get my first party member so I looking forward to see how party dynamics pan out.
I might also pick up the Dragon Quest collection for Switch as well.
Already happened on Recruit difficulty. Gunner and Packmaster spawned together down a side tunnel in the sewers. Was dealing with the Gunner when the Packmaster grabbed me and just held me there while the Gunner went ham. My AI compatriots were busy drooling at the wall down the junction.
I’m just like “This sure is fun and engaging.”
Yeah, I’m discovering the “Bretonnians disdain ranged weaponry” aspect a bit frustrating in what I can and can’t deal with. It’s more that with the bots I’m not really super able to ignore them and be confident they’ll actually get dealt with.
Having not played the original, I’m missing out on some context, but Kruber’s razzing of the Witch Hunter is always a treat. I even like the scripted lines between him and the Wood Elf when it comes to “wasting” Healing potions (There was another one RIGHT THERE and I was under half health!).
And while Grail Knight was purchased sight unseen, being able to effectively completely ignore Warpfire Throwers is an absolute delight.
You can also tank rattling gunners, their bullets barely dent your stamina when you’re blocking with your shield. Makes it easy for teammates to finish them off.
Re: pack masters, the lunge from your special will also finish them off no problem. On release it was a ridiculously powerful one.
I’m currently “maining” an Ironbreaker Bardin that plays more like a Slayer with dual hammers and I exist only to be impossible to kill and buff my party’s attack power by constantly shouting obscenities due to preposterous amounts of ultimate generation.
10/10 would recommend.
