Is that the article about the string of recent departures from Blizz? I haven’t read it, but I have seen a few places mention it and read some small excerpts.
That one, yes. It was surprisingly well written for an IGN piece and very informative. It kind of reveals a few things that sound…less than promising.
Yep. I heard it was worth a read, though it really says what alot of us already knew. Still it’s more, I suppose, confirming what we already suspected. I dunno. I will read it when I have the time to actually process all its information.
i mean you got several brothel FCs (most of which are above-board don’t get me wrong but i’ve read some stuff) and the occasional slaver ring so it’s not like it’s all out there
The brothel I bartended for (Crimson Lotus) closed up shop for good about two? months ago.
We didn’t charge for our drinks which is something I loved that not a whole lot of places do. Like bruh, I’m not dropping 100k on what I clearly read as
/em makes the Duskwight’s drink as they ordered it.
Get outta here.
Not a brothel, but I’m a waitress at Third Eye Sushi and we only charge for appointments, none of the actual menu items! Most of the money we make from tips!

Neat little Yoshi-P interview from IGN.
Furthermore, Endwalker is the end to the Hydaelyn-Zodiark saga, a nearly decade-long storyline set to conclude in the next expansion. Because of this Yoshida says that there’s more the developers want to deliver “in terms of story content,” and he says “the amount of cutscenes is about 1.3 times more than normal.”
Hype is increasing.
I remember Schreier and a few others reporting on that towards the end of BfA. There’s apparently been a lot of talk about cutting corners.
Anyway, my favorite part of IGN’s Blizzard write up was that pretty much everyone interviewed had something interesting or insightful to say, and then Ion blunders in with “we are very excited to present Product and hope our customers will look forward to Product” like he’s reading off a prompter.
Oh, I’m sure FFXIV has all sorts of weirdness, I’ve just noticed that it isn’t as… in your face as WoW’s RP weirdness can get, I guess? It just feels much, much easier to avoid.
Which is good for obvious reasons, but also bad because sometimes you just want to watch the Bloodmurder Cartel try to blow up the orphanage with some kinda hemomantic bio-weapon shadow katanaguncannon, you know?
I love that stuff like this just… exists! And that FFXIV’s housing system means it can exist.
Some of the most creative people I’ve ever met are roleplayers, and it’s just really cool seeing them get to run wild with a system that facilitates and supports that creativity.
pretty sure zenos has one of those
Like some sort of weeby slot machine
i think the lack of TRP really helps with that. that and the culture around RP in FFXIV is so different to warcraft’s. the devs both really care about rpers (to the point that yoshi-p has mentioned on multiple occasions that he envies what the RP community does), as well as properly respond to trolls and whatnot. ive seen several people get suspended for being bad apples, its nice. then there’s the fact that people tend to engage largely and entirely in party/tell based RP, to the point that it is legit rare for me to see people posting into the wild. after that, there’s the FFXIV community itself which is, by and large, much less toxic and way less loud than wow’s.
a chill atmosphere breeds less snipers in the park.
ADVENTURE AWAITS
Have you been reading my blog again?
I had literally zero will or want to level all classes until I saw those adorable things. Crazy how one little cute camelbird can influence me to want to spend countless hours in a game.
To be frank, it’s the same community (or largely so). A lot of people migrated from WoW to FFXIV over the past few years, and that includes the RP community. So while people say it’s less toxic (and may be on the surface), it’s…really just the same people doing the same things, just in private to avoid the ban hammer of being toxic.
Something being less toxic “on the surface” is still less toxic. Like, someone calling me a slur in private because they know if they say it in public they’ll get banned is a LOT better than someone openly calling me a slur because they know they’ll face no repercussions.
Come on now.
Anyway, the patch is live and I’m very excited to log in after I’ve gotten a coffee.
At the very least any toxic folk that have migrated over are being kept quiet in some way or form. I am happy.
I’ve been doing my roulettes just about every day and no one’s said the n-word or the f-slur or “joked” about attack helicopters, which has been QUITE the change let me tell you.
If this is only seemingly less toxic I think I’m fine with it.
I know toxicity exists, but I don’t get kicked when I announce to the group that I’m new to healing in FFXIV, which is great.
On the WoW RP front, I had a few bad experiences, a few good experiences… but at the end of the day I realized that I wasn’t having fun and by the end of my time in-game I was only getting approached for a certain type of RP I noted in my profile I was not interested in.
We’re open every other tuesday! You’re all welcome to come, tell your friends!

This kind of stuff will always be my favorite. One of the people in our FC (not anymore, but still in contact) runs a cafe, events and a newsletter. That kind of stuff just elevates the game world to an insane degree and makes everything feel very alive.
