Could be, but could also be that you are a very empathetic and sympathetic person and you are suffering from negative information overload.
Hang in there… I think a lot of us are in the classic “between a rock and a hard place” predicament, here’s why:
- the real world is not fun/depressing
- WoW is stale/not fun
It’s like there doesn’t seem to be any “escape” at the moment, if that makes sense…
/giant hugs* My mother was saying the same thing earlier this morning. I don’t think I really was able to help when I suggested not focusing on it too much, because it is pretty chaotic out there, but maybe if you can find something closer to home to shift your attention to, maybe it will help you feel better to work on a project or clean or beautify something. I dusted my room today.
Wish I had something really insightful and helpful to say, but I think we kind of all do.
It’ll be alright, just not yet.
Just log off and watch Chi’s sweet home
The world has always been on fire, you’re just more awake to it now.
Just watch Australia, they might have themselves a 1776 down there.
Disagree on this.
There was something like 93k drug overdoses in 2020 according to CDC data, most ever in US history. Also, homelessness supposedly doubled in many parts of the country. Lots of suicides as well.
It’s obvious that a lot of people are in distress, and certainly not happy. Lots of despair out there.
Objectively the world really WAS “better” in 2019 compared to 2020-present. I don’t know how anyone can honestly claim that 2020 or 2021 are “better” years than 2019 with a straight face
Not true. They can’t possibly be sad because they’ve made too much money off of their “studies”.
You are not preventing ignorance when you indulge in click-bait and bad news to the point you make yourself sick. As others have said, there is much more going on in the world than all those things over which you have no control.
Start with your own community. Volunteer for some cause you care about. Literacy. Environment. Animal welfare. Helping children or the elderly. Whatever matters to YOU. Break out of that addiction to bad news by doing something else. Get away from the screen and interact with real people in real time.
Too much noise makes you just as ignorant as total silence does, except with total silence you can actually relax.
And here’s the other thing: Not everything that happens is important. You’re ignorant of what I had for breakfast today but that doesn’t suddenly make that information important.
Sometimes, it’s not only acceptable but also preferable to take a step back and say with complete earnesty “Who cares?”
Here, watch this.

Negativity sells. I bet the media is loving the Afghan stuff.
And that the cosmic frailty of Man is naught o’er which one ought fretteth.
Doom cometh when it will to all, though we knowe not the hour, and so 'tis better to live and do what good thou canst than wallowest in the grand iniquity of the human condition.
Our Power went down for 5 days and I had no Net, No TV and found myself not listening to the news…Does wonders if you keep your mind off of of whats happening. (We are All in This Together)~
Yeah, lots of people call it “depression” and blame it for not being productive members of society.
The world and life is significantly better today than at any point in history but human beings may just be lazier and more entitled than in at any other point in history as well.
Depression is real, but if somebody is posting about it in a video game forum than they are just looking to make excuses to be non-contributing members of society.
Its worse then you think.
There is also the matter of our inborn negativity bias. That in conjunction with the panoply of fell news is bound to leaveth many in dissolute despair.
You need to unplug for awhile.
Yeah, you try to escape the crap and yet jackasses can’t help but bring their dumb hot takes into WoW.
My real, no BS advice for you is to turn off the news! The news is all about sensationalism and playing to their audience. Everything gets politicized, and I don’t think it’s an accurate representation of the world we actually live in.
Go to the park for a walk, go outside and watch a meteor shower, just enjoy the natural beauty of the world. It won’t fix all your problems, but it will help you decompress.
Also, if you are struggling with your mental health, consider seeing a professional. Not necessarily to get you on medication, but maybe they can set you up with mindfulness training.
Some times we can be our own worst enemy, gotta get out of your own head if you can. Good luck.
I may be sad, but at least I don’t take my misery out on other people. The fact you that you needed to post this is more telling of you.
Tell me about it, sometimes I just want to get off the grid and disconnect from society. I really need to see a professional but I have anxiety leaving home nowadays, I just leave to work and shop for food.
