I’d 100% play a classic relaunch with no world buffs. It would make raids harder and shake up the meta a bit since so many people wouldn’t be just stacking Warriors.
I mean… it really feels like a person who never wanted to give TBC a chance is looking for reasons to justify why they never gave TBC a chance.
The complaint I don’t get the most is that TBC took players out of the open world. It’s like, I just played classic- no one was doing stuff in the open world. They were boosting, farming in instances/bgs, or raiding/raid logged. The open world was dead long before TBC…
That doesn’t mean it didn’t bring and/or foster community.
The OP has a point that might be worth looking at rather than dismissing.
Personally, I wasn’t fond of the World Buff Meta, but… people did come together to help each other out and ensure that groups could raid with full buffs… none-the-less…
Making things easier leads to less interesting gameplay. QoL changes detract from the game… they don’t improve it.
We just saw that BGs took PVP out of the open world, in WoW Classic. But… P2 sure made grouping to do quests a welcome thing, as alliance on a Horde dominant server… at least in my experience.
World buff meta was trash. So glad that stuff is done for.
Lol i guess the classic players are losing it every argument i see is everyone in tbc is rushing. Lmao i guess no one did that in classic. No one hit 60 in a day. No one rushed to end game in classic. Classic crap enjoy your . Why dont you farm some more gold lol.
It fostered a community of people not being able to play their characters 95% of the time so they could keep borrowed power and complete what little content there was available as quickly and as easily as possible…. That’s like saying a trap house fosters a community of heroine addicts
I mean…
EDIT: Just looked up trap house. I thought it meant a house with a community of heroine addicts.
Yeah it does foster a community, a negative community built on not playing the game to conserve buffs and being teleported to 4 locations (2 of which are capital cities).
it’s always mages man, i hate mages
DOWN WITH MAGES
Yep agreed that’s pretty much what I mentioned in my post. People hated the world buff thing so much that they ignore how it brought communities together. People always say the same thing, raid logging while outright refusing to acknowledge any positives. Even though almost everyone had alts to play.
Although world buffing this was definitely a Classic thing, not even a Vanilla thing. Maybe a private server thing too I have no clue as I’ve never played on those. No matter. It brought server communities together. There were also a lot of world PVP opportunities over buffing.
Someone else mentioned World bosses which also did the same thing, that is if not controlled by a few guilds on a server. it was awesome being online at 4am and having someone message me “Azuregos is up who from your guild wants to come” and we’d go out with 4 from my guild and 27 or whatever from other guilds and fight the alliance and win sometimes. it was one of the best experiences PVP and otherwise in this game IMO.
The AQ gate opening was another server-wide thing created by Blizzard and although it also had problems it involved the whole server community which was awesome.
It has become very obvious to me that TBC is where the trend toward a lot of solo gameplay in WoW started. What you have now is a few world PVP objectIves which are not bad really… but that’s it. Most of the game is designed around small cliques. The raid groups are smaller, the PVP groups are smaller. The server community becomes more and more irrelevant and we get to what is there in retail today in other words there is no server community.
seek help, it’s not too late
no all it brought was tears when people legitimately killed them in wpvp and i had to listen to really bad pvpers complain about losing their pve buffs. terrible, so glad world buffs are gone in tbc
0/10. Typical Sunday wall of text garbage.
I think you are the only person I’ve ever seen defend world buffs. Everyone else hated them. I don’t like them either. Having to crowd in the city regularly to get buffs that you lose on the 1st death… no thanks. I’m never going to miss them.
I don’t know about your realm, but mine is BOOMING with activity in outlands. My realm actually went from “low” to “high” with crusade.
Nothing is going to make me go back to classic unless it has a ton of changes they refused to do because of “nochanges.”
lol
I think WBs are dumb as hell, but the OP does have a point.
You getting atta boys for 30 seconds in no way means world buffs were good for the community.
I wrote a long post on my opinion it didn’t just involve that comment but you can cherry pick one sentence if you want. That’s what you do. It wasn’t about me, it was about everyone. The TBC small clique groups aren’t everyone.
I read the rest of it, too.
The bit about the atta boys was the only part worth responding to.
