The Whitemane Queue is 72 minutes

This problem exists because people refuse to move off the mega servers and then cry about queue times. Because too many players have the perception that any server not bursting at the seams is “dead”, even though medium population is larger then the largest servers in Vanilla. This is a player created problem that only the players can solve. Layering is a bandaid, not a solution and has no place in Classic.

I mean, it isn’t like there aren’t servers out there without queues. Servers that you could transfer to, and avoid the problem altogether. People who choose to stay on full servers and complain about queues are like people who live in the Everglades and complain about heat and humidity.

Blizz need funding for Shadowlands so they’re getting that from classic (since that’s where the bulk subscriptions reside).

Transfer income is a way to extract the needed capital without entering paid to win territory.

No. This problem exists because Blizzard has a track record of incompetence. I didn’t “choose a megaserver” genius, I was hard locked into a character weeks before the game came out because that was where everyone I knew coordinated to play. When free transfers came out I was already in an established guild, and moving an entire guild is a logistical nightmare. To say that this is a “player-created problem” is laughably stupid, especially when Blizzard already had a fix in place, and for some reason removed it. If they are unwilling to return layers to the game, they need to implement a faction-based queue and come down harder on people who are keeping their accounts online while afk to hold their spot. The state of queues on Whitemane is completely unreasonable and needs to be fixed.

So your guild would rather spend hours in queue and risk missing raids? If so that’s your decision, but don’t complain about queues when the option to transfer is still there.

They introduced layers to give you a taste of what it would be like on medium-low population realms. They turned them back off to force people willing to pay onto them.

Give it like…3 - 4 weeks. The weaker guilds fighting attrition will leave.

Another day, another lack of reading comprehension.
@Xec dont even try to argue with Shadows anymore. He is shilling so hard for the “Blizzard did what they could, it is in the hands of the playerbase” idea, it is becoming obvious and horrible already.

Sorry that the truth hurts.

Exactly. Turning off layers is the only way to get people to leave the mega servers. Blizzard warned from day 1 that layers would only be temporary.

If the AQ event necessitates a specific max for a server population to work without layering to avoid queues, why didn’t Blizzard just set population limits to servers from the beginning? Why create a system that allows players to destroy their ability to enjoy the game? Players should not need to manage server populations. Servers could have had population (and even faction limits) at launch, and none of this would be happening.

If layering could be made to work with the AQ event, then I think layered servers should be an option for players. Some players are passionately against layering, and they should have the option to have servers without it.

I would suggest a new category of servers: layered. We have PVP, PVE, and RP. Let’s have another option for layered servers. I have worked in hosting and the infrastructure and dev costs for the additional servers are not as much as you would imagine. This solution would make everyone happy. Blizzard, please consider it, especially for the longevity of Classic.

Hahahaha dude I actually remember that! Big ups bro, GL fighting that queue boss

Yea when i get home and log on at 10pm pst its like a 1 hour que for me. Everyday now for past week that i been trying to play again.

“Layered Megaserver” would be a dream. splitting playerbase into servers is archaic anyway.

I’m so glad they “fixed” the queues when they decided to remove layering again… people are just going to be logged in ALL DAY tomorrow so they don’t get stuck in queues for Tuesday night raids… or guilds are going to end up with another scuffed raid night.

The only thing that i can think is the reason for removing layers is that it was cost Blizzard $$$ for the extra server cost to be dedicated to the highest population servers requiring layering.

If they cared so much about exploitation of black lotus spawns maybe they should recognize the root of the problem is layer hopping and just give people a debuff that prevents picking herbs or mining nodes for X minutes after swapping layers.

If they cared about layer hopping wrecking PvP, perhaps give people a debuff like res sickness that lowers all abilities by X% for 2 minutes after swapping layers with any player target.

Alas, design fixes to problems like that are probably too costly for Blizzard to considering implementing… why mess with the golden goose? Only reason i renewed my wow sub was to play classic again and I’m not playing when there are 2 hour long queues.

You assume the re-introduction of layers was done in malice or with intent to manipulate… and not just conceding that they were going to lose players and subscriptions if they didn’t do something to address the bleeding wound.

Just watch, instead of people logging in for raid time, it’s back to logging in and sitting AFK in Org all day long instead… the queues are going to go right back up to 5 hours long in the next couple weeks.

I agree that the queues are going to get longer without layering. I fully expect two weeks before AQ comes out to be back to 3-4 hours queues on my server. Back to the google Remote Desktop to log in for raids.

Transfer, and bring your friends.

Idk why this isn’t blatantly obvious for you all, but they removed layering in prep for AQ. The AQ event would be vastly different and open to exploiting if it was layered. Servers with layers would bang the gong incredibly quickly and layer hopping would allow teams to completely bypass PvP

Sure, but Whitemane wouldn’t be as bad if they banned the bot accounts. Plus AQ isn’t even here yet.

I agree on the bots, but blizzard gonna blizzard. They’re gonna keep the layers gone to get people to transfer. Those that don’t have no reason to be upset because they’ve known for months the queues are gonna suck. This is Whitemane, they’ve been warning about excessive queues on this server since before the game went live.
