The water elemental removing is extremely concerning - Do you never learn?

They blamed PvPers for it. Just like when they gutted Hunter pet customization.

I have a frost mage, but the only time I ever used the water elemental was when I was leveling. I don’t use the water elemental now that I max level.

So you want it mainly for rp purposes? Or is it about the gameplay?`

Class-Fantasy Toys would be awesome, actually.

Well if y’all really want your permanent water elemental that bad, come to Wrath. You can glyph it to be permanent (at the cost of losing its frost nova).

My Snake and D-Dog combo begs to differ.

I liked the good old days when a mage could summon any one of four elementals.

And the elemental stuck with them as long as needed… that was fun and very versatile.

when was that ever a thing?

When WoW was popular.

so… it wasn’t actually a thing?

Okay, Karen.

Yes, once upon a time, WoW actually was a lot of fun and became popular because of it.

pretty sure you’re just making up the thing about 4 different types of elementals.

i’ve never heard of it.

Frost mage since wrath here.

I admit the frost pet was pretty bad. Only use it had was an extra nova. Managing its positioning and having it not break cc was a pain in my behind.

My approach wouldn’t have been to gut it, though. In fact, I always wanted arcane and fire to get elementals as well. But hey… we aren’t shamans are we…

BECAUSE of Lonely Winter talent which forced players into choosing Lonely Winter. They wanted to get rid of pets from the get go.

Grimoire of sac has existed for those 2 since at least Legion, and it’s only just starting to see play for Aff, and is a niche pick for destro last I checked.

You’re probably not wrong. They do tend to push people in a certain direction. Look at some of the tier set bonuses.

Lonely winter also made the spec easier to play, and removed a button from the spec (which is something GD apparently wants).

Totally! The bonuses on borrowed power gear forces a very uncreative playstyle. Talents should be about Player Agency and Player Choice. Instead it’s catered to lackluster class/spec design around min max diehards.

How did it remove a button? Summon elemental, go about your day. You’re not hitting an extra button in your rotation.

The elemental had an AOE freeze you could direct the pet to cast from range (also means it was off GCD). Was useful in dungeons/open world for an extra freeze effect for the associated bonuses.
