The Unofficial Saurok Playable Race Discussion Megathread! šŸŠ

I would love for a Lizardman race to be playable.

As would I. Lizardmen are my favorite race type in fantasy settings. They have a lot of cool designs and such that I just really love about them. Not to mention that it would be exciting news to see WoW finally get a playable lizardmen race. I think it would be received very well! :lizard:

There are actually several races that would bring some much needed flavor to the game if they became playable. Itā€™s a reason I hope we see several races people want becoming playable, as well as seeing their excitement and celebrations. In my opinion, the more options we have to make the characters we want, the better!

That said, I do hope we see some reptiles on that character creation screen someday! :snake: :crocodile: :turtle:

Music to go with this postā€™s screenshot:

A Saurok climbs to the top of a cliff and stares out into the ocean in deep thought. He thinks about the past, the present, and the future.

His tribe fought for their freedom against the tyrannical Mogu. Having been granted it, his tribe has been slowly changing as time goes on. What were once primitive lizards, unsure of how to react to their painful shaping into the Saurok, have evolved into a more intelligent and cunning race.

The tribe has grown where others have fallen, but is Pandaria where they should be? Other tribes have left the continent to seek their fortune. Perhaps the potential to grow even more awaits out there in the ocean. Perhaps a way to get away from any Mogu who would attempt to enslave them again. Perhaps even true freedom awaits out there.

Stories were told of the group known as the Horde. An exodus was taken in order for the Orcs to find a better place for their people to survive, to grow and flourish, and to make a stand in a world that seemed against them. They stand strong to this day.

Perhaps the Saurokā€™s tribe could find their place in the world elsewhere. A place where they can be truly free, a place where their tribe can grow in peace, and where they can call somewhere ā€œhome.ā€ It may present more opportunities than to compete with the other races and Saurok tribes on Pandaria for resources.

The Saurok ponders for a long time. Can there truly be a place for them? Perhaps he should consult the Wise Ones of his tribe. Perhaps the arduous journey would be worth it in the long run, for his tribe is strong enough to overcome challenges. Perhaps his tribe could become something much more.

The Saurok were an unnatural race placed into this world against their will. Surely there is a place for them somewhere? Perhaps it is a dream worth fighting forā€¦

A Saurok ambassador meets with Tharg, potential leader of the Stonemaul Clan, to reaffirm their partnership in helping each other become full members of the Horde!..and possibly about BBQ events since summer time is coming up. I imagine they would have some really tasty recipes for BBQ food!

My class is almost done, so I should have some free time to do some things for my megathreads soon. Iā€™ll of course try to find time to do some things as well when my summer class starts in early June.

As usual, Iā€™ll keep hoping for my dream playable races to get on the Horde side of that character creation screen someday! :meat_on_bone::crocodile: :cut_of_meat::japanese_ogre:

So some good news: My class is over, and I have an A. Not just an A, but a perfect score of a 100% on every assignment, project, and such. It was a lot of hard work, but very much worth it. One more class over this summer, and I hope to find a job.

Iā€™ll have a bit of free time, so Iā€™ll of course be trying to think of stuff to do for my megathreads. Revamping more areas, thinking of things to add, and also posts in general, like more screenshot stories and the like.

And next month, June 19th, will be this megathreadā€™s two year anniversary, so Iā€™ll be trying to think of things to do to celebrate that. If anyone has any ideas, please share! This is a celebration for everyone involved here, not just me. :lizard:

Almost two years and still dreaming strong of Saurok players running around Orgrimmar as members of the Horde. Hopefully, it wonā€™t be several years before we see that as a reality someday! :meat_on_bone::crocodile:

One day I will have my Saurok hunter, determined to taste all the culinary offerings in the world!

I am going to give you my endorsement, if I havenā€™t already, though Ogres/Mokā€™nathal are first on my list. I think there should be far more playable races and allow players a more diverse race selection. Let each play whichever race they prefer.

:+1: Playable Saurfangs . . . um, Sauroks. I meant Sauroks. :stuck_out_tongue:

Very much agree, and itā€™s a point Iā€™ll harp on again and again for a long time.

Warcraft has not really had a playable reptilian race for the most part, and I feel that adding a playable lizardman race like Saurok to the Horde would be a huge deal in terms of marketing buzz and popularity. Both Saurok and Sethrak have a lot to offer unique to each of them that making both playable would be really exciting.

With Saurok specifically if you tie in Mogu as their blood sworn enemy, you could have villains of different tiers and also dungeons and raids of different sorts. Saurok have a lot of potential and bring that potential in other aspects of the game that I think would add in some pretty cool gameplay and storylines to the game.

Not to mention how refreshing it would be to see something new in the character creation process. All the customization possibilities and such for a reptilian race would be amazing to see. :lizard:

Iā€™ve gone on and on about this and I likely will continue to do so. I do feel that the game can use some playable reptilian races and that both Saurok and Sethrak would be well received. Hopefully, Blizzard will see that potential and add some reptiles on that character creation screen someday! :snake: :crocodile: :turtle:

Found another amazing artwork piece on DeviantArt I wanted to share of a Lizardfolk ā€œGrave Clericā€ that looks awesome! :lizard:

This was created by the user named ā€œSamSantalaā€ and was uploaded to DeviantArt on Nov. 13, 2020.

Tao - Lizardfolk Grave Cleric by SamSantala

Itā€™s a really awesome design that really fits well with the image of a Lizardman race to me. Lots of great details here!

It makes me imagine what could be made for Saurok designs. I feel like there is quite a lot you could do for them that would look amazing. Iā€™m also sure there are transmog sets that would also look really cool on Saurok players as well.

Iā€™ll continue to keep an eye out for other pieces of Lizardmen art to share here! :meat_on_bone::crocodile:

Makes me wonder what a Saurok would look like with some of the Dazarā€™alor armor pieces. A lot of those had the look of the stuff in the artwork.

I suspect a lot of Zandalari armor would look really good on Saurok. Iā€™ve seen a lot of general Aztec themes in armor for Lizardmen across different media, so it would likely fit well.

I tried to look for examples of Aztec themes in Lizardmen armor designs and didnā€™t come across a lot of specific examples. I think some of Warhammerā€™s Lizardmen/Seraphon utilize some slight designs, like the Star Priest:

Iā€™ll have to hunt to find other similar designs. I know Iā€™ve seen some before on various Lizardmen races. :meat_on_bone::crocodile:

Iā€™m not one to count my chickens before theyā€™re hatched, but I was thinking some about what to do if we ever got playable Horde Saurok. Previously, only two megathreads have been lucky enough to get the race they wanted playable (The Vulpera and MechaGnome megathreads), and I remember the Vulpera megathread had big celebrations in-game and stuff. I figure it wouldnā€™t hurt to think of what to do if we see playable Horde Saurok as a reality.

Iā€™ll be clear in saying that this is just a ā€œfor funā€ thought. Itā€™s possible we might not see playable Saurok ever. Still, it wouldnā€™t hurt to have plans just in case we are lucky enough to see it become a reality.

First, Iā€™d post a link that would confirm playable Horde Saurok, complete with celebrating with others. I would be searching for any information (class selections racials, jokes/flirts, etc) on them, and hopefully others would be finding and sharing information as well.

This would lead into the main post of the megathread likely being completely revamped to show off the information we find and also videos of interest (customization options and such). I donā€™t plan to make a separate celebratory thread, instead opting to keep everything to this thread.

Of course, weā€™d likely talk about what classes weā€™d roll for our Saurok and eventually share screenshots of them when weā€™re able to make them in game. If I happen to get into a beta, I might take some screenshots, depending on what is allowed and so on of course, but I wouldnā€™t bank entirely on it. Besides, Iā€™d want to go in fresh on live servers.

After a long wait, we would go into the launch day of when we could create Horde Saurok. Iā€™d take screenshots of everyone making their newbie Saurok, and ideally, I would try to hold a launch photoshoot event with people from here. It likely wouldnā€™t be too long, but it would be exciting to finally be able to create our characters.

After that, this megathread would likely become something we casually talk about Saurok in terms of what happens to them in storylines and such in the future. Iā€™d also share some screenshots of the journeys my Saurok characters would go on. I imagine a speech post of some kind would also be typed up at some point as well, so there is that. I would also guess at some point, weā€™d ride off into the sunset as our Horde Saurok, off to find fame, shinies, and lots of meat dishes to sample.

I will say that I wouldnā€™t take any credit if we did get playable Horde Saurok, nor do I really need any recognition. As Iā€™ve said before, Iā€™m not in this for fame. Iā€™d be more interested in reporting all the details about playable Saurok to compile into one place, as well as just being overall excited to have a dream of mine become true.

As I said, this was all just a ā€œfor funā€ post, but itā€™s still a dream I hope becomes a reality someday. Weā€™ll see how things go in the future, but if fortune ever smiles upon us someday, Iā€™ll have plans on what to do to celebrate.

Letā€™s just hope weā€™re in the timeline where playable Horde Saurok becomes a reality. :meat_on_bone::crocodile:

Really hoping so, you worked so hard on this thread, and I have good story ideas myself Iā€™d love to use. They are so unique and would bring so much flavor to the game.

I have my own little rp thing that I came up with to pretend my hunter is a saurok, albiet a offshoot of the race called Isle Saurok.
-differences
1.built like trolls, with long slender tails, but with longer necks and obviously lizard heads. swam from Pandaria to the farther of the Echo Isles, evolved a bit more brainpower on par with the playable races. Gained a broader definition of strength, aka utilizing pets and ranged tools, shamanism ext. Still love the hunting, meat, value power, all that stuff, still not fond of spellcasting (except maybe warlocks). Have a variety of horn styles but no frills, slim lower jaws hidden by upper teeth poking from the upper lip(like a croc). females being slimmer and shorter with smaller horns.
2.can lose the tail, wonā€™t grow it back on account of sacrificing limb regen for brainpower, but still super great at healing from wounds and poisons.
3. Live in a tribe called the Brinespray and interact a lot with the Darkspear neighbors. Individuals have been known to interact with the Horde as adventurers and sellswords, heroes (aka the role of the Player character)

Of course all this is a bit of a summary. Also, should Blizz give us actual saurok Iā€™d race change this hunter and drop most of this except for the smigen of extra intel and the stuff described in number 3.

Oh Iā€™d be an honorary Saurok at best for the playable tribe. This character is staying as a Troll, but would be a speaker of Saurok and Ogres (an ambassador!). Maybe one of the Saurok characters I had in mind could work their way up the ranks if they get the chance to be Horde champions.

Well, despite all the work I put into both my megathreads, I do so with the stance that it could be for naught in the end. I still maintain hope, of course, but I feel doing something to show support is better than nothing.

But for whatever it is worth, I continue onward so long as I keep playing the game. Gotta keep that dream of Ogres, Saurok, and Sanā€™layn players wandering Orgrimmar alive.

A playable lizardman race finally coming to WoW would be big news and have so many customization options. Itā€™s among several reasons I hope Saurok get more love and donā€™t end up as a jobber mook race. Lots of potential in more ways than one.

Iā€™m sure you could even make a whole book of their lore and culture if enough love and creativity were put into it. :lizard:

Itā€™s great to see others really passionate about Saurok. I need to come up with some general ideas for my own Saurok characters, myself.

I will say that there likely would be a lot of race changes to Saurok if they became playable. Iā€™m sure they would be received fairly well and be popular. Especially as a Horde race. :meat_on_bone::crocodile:

I discovered that when you mouseover the date in the top right corner of the first post of the thread, a date appears which I think might be when the post was actually made. Originally I thought June 19th was this megathreadā€™s creation date, since it said ā€œJun '19ā€ on the top right.

If Interpret it correctly, it turns out it was June 2nd when you mouseover it. The 19 part just means 2019.

Maybe I misremembered the megathreadā€™s creation date, but hey, it means our two year anniversary is coming sooner than later! As I said, Iā€™ll have to try to figure some things out to do for it.

Letā€™s hope it wonā€™t be several years before we see playable Horde Saurok someday! :meat_on_bone::crocodile:
