I just met my first Earthen player in-game. They were Horde too, which honestly made me feel weird seeing it. A feeling I know I won’t have when seeing Saurok players.

It has been awhile since I linked any art pieces and on DeviantArt, I came across a Lizardman art piece I wanted to share primarily because of the scale colors. This one was created by KazSilverhand and was uploaded to the website on May 7th, 2024!

“Lizardman” by KazSilverhand on DeviantArt

As mentioned, the scale colors are really awesome in this art piece and was the primary reason I wanted to share it. There are some other features of this Lizardman that would make for some great Saurok customization options, including spikes at various parts of the body and even fin-like spikes as well. It looks almost Saurok-like in a way.

I’ll continue to keep an eye out for art pieces to share for Saurok idea inspiration. I’ve also been thinking about the multiple tribes idea I mentioned a few posts ago that I’ll be touching up on again in the near future.

I really feel like Saurok would fit very well walking around Horde areas, with Orgrimmar in particular. And given their back story, they really fit the theme of the Horde as well. It’s a big reason I support them as a playable Horde race. :lizard:

Saurok working on cooking skills probably looks something like this:

Though I assume Saurok would be more interested in making meat pies. :pie:

It would be really neat if with playable Horde Saurok, we got NPC’s that act as references to Chef Lenny the Lizard and his family. I feel like they would have quite the rivalry with Nomi and others in cooking competitions. :man_cook:

If you don’t know who Chef Lenny the Lizard is, he is a popular lizard chef who even has his cookbook. This video goes in a bit more detail:

And this is his cookbook you can buy:

I’m hoping to get his cookbook someday when I can. Maybe I can find some awesome recipes that Saurok would love to try out! :lizard:

I recently got the Gummi worm battle pet by buying a small bag of Trolli sour worms. If you’re interested in getting one for yourself, promotion info is here:

Seeing as some lizards do eat worms, I’m curious if Saurok would like to munch on these worms. I feel like they’d be a popular snack for them. It might be something like this nonstop:

At least this Gummi worm I have is safe. :worm: :lizard:

Gosh I thought that was you using a toy to look like a Saurok for a second there. That angle on that armor works well. lol

You do have to wonder how Saurok would look in that armor. It would be fairly interesting and I’m sure it would work. I mean, there are weirder race and armor combinations than that.

Also, I rescued another tiny lizard again. This one was stuck on the solar cover to my pool. So I managed to carefully get them off in a net and set them free. Kinda funny how I’ve been rescuing a number of lizards lately. If only I can find a tribe or tribes of Saurok to help out and get them a banner in the Horde embassy someday! :lizard:

We know that Saurok can jump pretty high and far, but did you know real life lizards can also jump almost as well? You can see a pretty amazing jump in this video below:

Almost puts Nintendo’s Mario to shame, doesn’t it?

Given WoW’s engine, I can’t really say that Saurok jumping would be a potential racial, but it’s still a fun thing to think about. But maybe we’ll at least be lucky to see them jump onto the Horde side of that character creation screen someday! :lizard:

Heh, and Bearded’s ain’t even the start of the best jumpers list for Lizards. >.>

Really would love to see them get a jump ability for a racial.

I’m not sure how a jump racial for Saurok could be implemented in the context of WoW gameplay. At best, I can imagine something similar to Heroic Leap, though I wouldn’t really know how to balance it.

I still think a dash and water walking ability is very fitting and useful. Take this video as an example scenario of a Worgen and Human trying to PvP a lone Horde Saurok player.

:warning: No animals were harmed in the following videos:

And of course a swimming racial:

Saurok have quite the versatility when it comes to potential racials. :lizard:

One of the interesting things about making an Earthen character is that their starting area is much different from other Allied Races.

With previous Allied Races, they start in a small racial hub, get a quest to go to their faction’s embassy, and immediately get to get started questing.

With Earthen, however, their starting experience is a bit more involved. They have a short questline, lots of roleplaying flavor in choosing options reflecting how the player would want to view their Earthen and their goals, and then they arrive at their faction’s embassy.

This article was posted before TWW came out, but it goes over the Earthen’s starting experience:

It’s an interesting thing to note because future Allied Races may get a similar treatment instead of just being plunked into the world (of Warcraft!) and immediately get told to quest in the name of the Horde/Alliance.

With Saurok a lot depends on what their storyline would be, but there could be some interesting things done with their starting experience.

For example, if there are multiple tribes involved in the playable Saurok faction, this would be a good roleplay opportunity to choose which tribe your Saurok comes from. While it wouldn’t affect much gameplay-wise, it’s something I think would enhance the experience and let those who want a backstory for their Saurok character to get more into the game.

There could also be a fun questline where you need to prove your strength to be able to quest as a champion of the Saurok and to impress the Horde with your strength. Maybe you need to fight a mob of some sort with other Saurok players or perhaps some evil Mogu were captured to be used as punching bags for up and coming Saurok.

Of course, I don’t expect to arrive in Orgrimmar completely covered in blood and guts, but having a little trophy of some kind from your Saurok’s promotion would be a neat thing to get out of their starting area. Maybe even have a comment or two from NPC’s as you head to the embassy on that trophy you have.

I suppose in a way, this could work if Saurok were either a Core or Allied race. Most importantly, however, I do want to see something that shows Saurok having an interest in joining the Horde and the Horde having an interest in having Saurok as members. The way Earthen joined the Horde and Alliance as a passing mention in a quest instead of being something shown just felt flat and uninspired, and part of the fun of new playable races is seeing the storyline in-game leading to them joining their faction.

I’ll be curious to see how future Allied Races will be treated with their intro areas and whether they’ll be elaborate like the Earthen are. I’ll definitely report on that as we get more Allied races.

Now if I could just get a Saurok banner in the Orgrimmar embassy… :lizard:

That would be pretty cool and has a lot of potential.

That would be neat, especially for any race that can different composed of different clans/tribes. Like Horde Ogres could choose between being from the Stonemaul, AU Stonemaul, and the Dunemaul.

This is 100% true. The Earthen just getting unlocked with no real context, than the reveal of an off screen invitation felt really uninspired. We could have at least some of the Earthen recruits that the factions were training, express interest in the Horde and Alliance, to have some kind of build up.

Like the Vulpera had proper build up. We helped them, the Horde hired them to do work, Kiro vowed to stand with the Zandalari following Rastakhan’s death, and Gonk outside mentions the Vulpera as being apart of the pack during the Zandalari recruitment quest chain. It wasn’t a question of if the Vulpera becoming playable, but when.

Sharing another neat art piece from DeviantArt! This one is of a Lizardfolk Shaman with a fire theme. It was created by Alyskan and was uploaded to the website on November 10th, 2023.

“Salamander, lizardfolk shaman” by Alyskan on DeviantArt

This artwork is a really cool scene. It helps to imagine how a Saurok Elemental Shaman or even a Fire Mage could look like to a certain extent. I could even see some red scale customization options to go with the whole fire salamander theme, which could be a popular look for Saurok in general.

As usual, I’ll keep an eye out for more general Lizardmen art pieces to share for playable Horde Saurok idea inspiration. And of course, even through the darkest days, this fiery passion for playable Horde Saurok burns. Always! :fire: :lizard:

I noticed our megathread hit a milestone! At the time of this post, the main post of the megathread has hit 200 likes!

Time to do a celebration dance:

I’m happy that a lot of people like the idea of playable Horde Saurok and the ideas we’ve presented and will keep presenting. As I said before, I see a number of forumers list Saurok among their most wanted playable races in various threads asking what races you want to see playable. Maybe we have influenced that some or maybe not, but it does seem like Saurok popularity is slowly rising!

I Just want to thank everyone who comes to look at our ideas, posts in here, and helps support playable Horde Saurok. It is very much appreciated! Thank you! :lizard:
