The Unofficial High Elf Discussion Megathread

I wonder why Blizzard doesn't want to make money? People would pay to race change to a High Elf. The majority of players want High Elves to be playable too, so I don't understand why Blizzard is so against it. It has to be a dumb pride thing. Just like how there was such a fight against WoW: Classic, from Blizzard.

High Elves is their savings account. They know it's there but they're saving it for a rainy day.

How bad does it have to be for blizzard to add high elves?

I'm just pissed off by anti HE posters. It feels like they don't want people to play what they want and have fun.

Completely agree
People are going to play the Classic Demo and are going to see High Elf NPCs all over and the responses are going to be great.

"I thought Blood Elves where added in BC?" "Those are High Elves."

"Didn't High Elves rename themselves to Blood Elves in WC3?" "That was Keals group. These are different."

"Why would the Blood Elves join us in BC if we're killing all these High Elves?" "Blood Elves and High Elves are enemies."

I'm honestly curious about little things like this in regards to 'just how vanilla will the vanilla experience be?'

Like....will Blizzard be able to resist the temptation of updating some of the weird/temporary models from the Vanilla era?

I'm curtain they are going to put as little effort in it as they possibly can, with the constant excuse of "Then it wouldn't be vanilla" in response to any suggestions.

I think they are already done. The Frostfencer guy is probably an early sneak peek, kinda like how Sira Moonwarden is an early sneak peek of the San'layn.

I have a feeling High Elves will be the biggest cash cow the game has ever seen.
Why you think they are going to add them to the store for a fee?

Paid race changes/faction changes.
If the horde gets vulpera and the alliance gets some sort of gnomes, how would you guys feel?

I don't think they have a maximum number of Allied Races planned. In other words, I'm not sure these additions would prevent High Elves from coming out.

Goats and Lightforged goats: Good for pallies and priests and shammies but won't work for me and mages.

But arcane is one of the cornerstones of draenei society. Their society is literally covered in arcane. All those purple crystals? Those are arcane crystals. The Vindicaar was even arcane before it got defiled by the Light.

I'm not saying they would. What I'm trying to say is that how would you feel if the horde gets a race they want and we get another race that only a few people will play.

I need to see those gnomes first, but I can't think of it ending well.

It would be yet another came-out-of-nowhere race against another that was established and fleshed out before. Plus, I just can't see what cool factor these "junker gnomes" or whatever would have.

Maybe I'm wrong and the new gnomes end up being something fun, cool and interesting, but I can't see it now. Gnomes are fun but very niche.

Edit: Aaaaaaand I killed the thread.

Well, I personally am a fan of Gnomes and their lore, so I would be stoked. I understand others don't agree and that is fine.

To be honest, ill be somewhat disappointed. Whilst the Horde has received Mag'har and Zandalari and then Vulpera - races they've wanted. From an Alliance perspective (as i play both factions), i'd feel left out by Blizzard as we've only received one - being the Dark Iron Dwarves.

I like to tell myself that devs come to these forums sometimes just to see for themselves what the players ask for and the state of things.

I get that there can be a disconnect between what the devs want and what the players want, but if they introduced gnomes I would be willing to jump on the Horde bias train unironically.
