Looks like a recruitment banner. It's a new asset at least.

There where also some more additions and changes but this isn't the San'layn thread so I'm not going to talk about them too much.

But a "War for Quel'Thalas" patch would be a great time to add both races and show all the differences and different ideologies of the different Elf groups.

If that's the allied race banner then that means we're probably getting high elves. They always work on the horde first.
I would also be very surprised if they added San'layn (an Undead Elf) without adding another Elf on Alliance.

Sure there is nothing saying there has to be equal amounts of Elves on both sides.

But the Allied Races so far have been pretty paired:

Horde got Nightborne and Highmountain (the early races of Legion) while Alliance got LfD and VE (the late races of Legion).

Horde gets Mag'har (helped in WoD) while Alliance got Dark Iron (helped in WoD).

Horde helps out Talanji (Zandalari) and Alliance helps out the Proudmoores (Kul'Tiran).

If Vulpera(H) and Sethrak(A) are true too, then it's another pairing that fits. We help these races determined by our respective faction.

Since Nightborne and Void Elf came about together, and we have the pairing with Allied Races. It's more likely than not that Elves will come in pairs.

Definitely. It's the only logical counterpart. No "flavor" of high elves work. We just want our vanilla high elves.

Could also just be NPCs like they've previously been used, unless people are going to start jumping at every single piece of anything ever as "amg half life 3 confirmed" I mean "alliance high elves!"

Uh did you even read my post? I said "if that's the allied race banner" not that it actually is and that a san'layn allied race is confirmed.
If they made them Half-Elves but they still have all of the lodge elf qualities we've been discussing, I would still love it every bit as much. The name can change if the theme and lore are still there.

Plus Half-Elf could just be a catchall term for any High Elf with additional Human blood in their ancestry, even a small amount (as opposed to having to be literally 50/50). You know, the thing that Elisande was talking about.

This is the most important bit and I think something a lot of posters fail to understand when it comes to "High Elves".

Most High Elf fans want to play that SPECIFIC GROUP of Elves that stayed Alliance loyal no matter what had/has occurred with their people and such. The themes and lore that are attached to these guys.

Void Elves have none of that. They're Blood Elves that weren't alright with the Horde sure, but still became Horde.

And obviously the Blood Elves themselves neither encompass this as well.

Call them whatever type of Elves you want, Fruity Elves, Farty Elves, Ugly Elves, etc. Whatever.

People love this group, these "High Elves on Alliance" and have an unfulfilled desire to play as them through the current selection of playable races.

How does this re-hash of what you guys have been saying make it all better or easier to understand?

We understand you just fine. We don't want you to have High Elves as an allied race. bottom line.
The answer to High Elves, is Join the Horde. Blood Elf Death Knight. Get the Blue Hair like me, with a Crown of Eternal Winter. Blood Elf Death Knight's, can have Blue Eyes, Yes Blue Eyes. Bingo you are a Blood Elf Death Knight - that looks like a High Elf. And then you get a Blue Cape. Also Download MyRoleplay and change, name to High Elf.

All you need is a cool transmog, blue hair option for Blood Elf Death Knights, and Blue Eyes. Seriously look at my Armory I look, like a High Elf for the Horde. Problem Solved.

That's the thing. We don't want to play a blood elf. We want to play a race that should've been available since vanilla. A race that didn't betray us. Blood elves aren't the race we want, they never were, and they never will be. Otherwise we would've been happy with void elves.

This is a Horde Alt, I mostly play Alliance. I love the Void Elves, they are essentially High Elves for the Alliance. The only thing, I do not like about the Void Elves, are they cannot be Paladins, or Death Knights. Otherwise I am happy with the Void Elves.

Honestly, the last time I tried to RP a High Elf on an active Horde RP server, people would literally follow me around Silvermoon and Orgrimmar PMing me faction insult garbage.

Seems to me like a big reason people want High Elves on the correct faction is so we don't have to deal with the toxic Horde playerbase (the same kind of people who come into helf threads to troll and argue).

You may be happy with them, and that's fine, but a lot of us aren't. These megathreads weren't a thing until void elves we're announced. We don't want anything that is "essentially high elves" we want high elves. No flavor of high elves.
I agree with you, high elves would be awesome. I am not entirely happy with Void Elves, because I want to be a Paladin or Death Knight but I am not able to. The real reason Blizzard does not allow it is faction balance. Blood Elves are the most popular race in wow, more people play on Alliance then Horde. So they had to give something to the Horde. Otherwise everyone would play Alliance, and not Horde. 35% of Horde is Silvermoon. I lean Alliance myself. The only reason I play Horde is for Blood Elf.

Yes so its either join the perfect faction Alliance - but no Blood Elves/High Elves.

Or join the Horde, and look like a High Elf, with Blue Hair, and Blue Eyes. Only for the Death Knights that died before the Third War. But live in the rubbish of Orgrimmar.

There are more horde players than alliance. If anything we need high elves to draw people to the alliance. The Alliance needs high elves and they need to have good racials because there are barely any top raiding and pvp guilds left.

It's great you think Void Elves are awesome. I do too. In fact I made my Priest a Void Elf, basing him on a character who I imagine is an ex-Alliance priest from Warcraft III. I find the theme of balancing the Light and Void to be of the most fascinating and convincing background stories for a character I have ever had... and I don't even RP so it was just for fun. THAT is the connection I established with him, a Void Elf, one I have been utterly unable to do for any other class...

But they aren't the droids we are looking for.

Ultimately I think people are really caught up in two things.

1) the Thalassian model
2) the existence of Void Elves

Fact is, we're almost at the point where we've saturated the use of base races. Only Goblins, Gnomes, and Undead are left at this point with every other base race being used in some manner to build the current Allied Races.

Future implementations can use a 3.0 of existing model if they wish, so the argument of "already taken" is nonsequitor. It'll happen again at some point, especially when you consider that they outright said that Allied Races is a game-level feature and not just limited to this expansion, one they hope to iterate on.

Given that the elves were the first batch of allied races, it's more likely they'll come sooner (relatively) rather than later.

Back to the present:

Goblins will be covered by Vulpera. This is transparent and obvious.
Gnomes are an unknown. Mechagnomes are heavily speculated. I'd personally hate it, and I really doubt it'll be popular, but whatever. (yay Alliance... )
Undead are technically used by skinny Kul Tirans but still that's obviously not enough.

We have two directions here. Undead Elves or Undead "Light" Humans. I think we might actually get both, eventually, based on the PTR.

A lot of people think High Elves will be the answer to Undead Elves. While I personally hope this is the case, I think it's more likely going to be the "Light" Undead introduced in Before the Storm for multiple reasons.

1) The recent updates to Uther's Tomb and the heavy foreshadowing in BTS.
2) They will serve as the "good" side of Undeath, countering the ...well... Sylvanas one.
3) They are based in northern Eastern Kingdoms as well, which means it can develop the story just as well.

Even then, that already shifts the "elf balance" by 1 being pro-Horde, which just begs for High Elves to eventually be released anyway... especially when you consider that Undead Elves would be yet another Dark Elf in a sea of Dark Elves. We're severely lacking Wood Elves. We're severely lacking "High Elves".

Make High Elves a combination of both. I'm actually pretty hopeful that it'll come at some point... maybe as the final set of BFA allied races to counter Forest Trolls or whatever
I struggle with it myself. I ask myself two questions. Do I want to play the Alliance, Yes I do, But no Blood Elves =(. Do I want to play the Horde, no I don't, but Blood Elves =). Useally what happens is I pick the Alliance, because I love the faction more than the Blood Elves, and now we have Void Elves so I am very happy. But no Paladins, and the Death Knights. And that would force me to chose, Horde. But I am so indoctrinated with the Alliance, that I cant play my favorite race sadly. Because if I do I would like my character, but I would hate my faction. It is a dilemma we all struggle with sadly.

90% of my time has been on Alliance, 10% on Horde. I main a Draenei Paladin.

In a perfect world High Elves, on the Alliance. With Silvermoon as an Alliance Capital, I sympathies, but it will never happen. We were lucky to even get the Void Elves.

That's why we're asking for high elves. If you want something, ask for it. We're doing it because we too want high elves.

The nearest things to have High Elves on the are either any of these 3 Options.

1. Main a Draenei - have an Orb of Deception and look like a Blood Elf on the Alliance for only 5 Minutes. Obtain an Orb of the Sin'Dorei too also helps.

2. Roll Horde - It sucks but you will have the Blood Elves. Or look at my Armory, get the same Blue Hair, and Blue Eyes I have. Only Death Knights can have this look. If you get a Blue Cape, and the right Transmog. You can look almost like High Elf.

3. Void Elf - Accept the Alliance, and almost High Elf. But you dont get Paladin or Death Knight. But at least you will be the nearest to the race on Alliance.
