The Unofficial High Elf Discussion Megathread

TBH I doubt they even want Jinyu. I think it’s just another garbage statement from someone fishing for reactions.

if blizzard wont do alliance high/blood elves, im just saying jinyu would be the next best AR in 8.2.5. they could have cool water racials

to balance this, horde should get the naga AR because theyd have the water breathing racial ability that could match the Jinyu water breathing ability

You don’t need to worry, Jinyu don’t have female models. But, I’m afraid Alliance will receive something worse instead…

Guys quit feeding the troll.

I can already tell what would be the most popular out of the two. It wouldn’t be balanced at all.

Although, if they did desire to add Jinyu they should go from the races each faction met in Pandaria. Jinyu for Alliance, Hozen for Horde.

Yea, I don’t see as much discussion for Jinyu and controversy around them as I do High Elves.

I dont disagree that they aren’t a candidate but in terms of popularity, I haven’t seen much discussion around them. So they could potentially be popular, who knows, but not that much in comparison to High Elves.

More disingenuous :horse: :poop: I see.

Just flag her and move on, it’s an insincere ruse.

Like others have stated it’s completely possible to like both, and as they fill different roles, it’s perfectly fine for someone rolling a Void Elf to ask for High Elves.

Void Elves, albeit taking a little more work to unlock than Lightforged did was resultant of playing what was current content at the time, so it stands to reason that those who played Legion right up to BfA had the requirements for Void Elves or close to already by default.

So no, none of this tells anyone that people are okay with Void Elves in the place of High Elves and you are putting words in a lot of peoples mouths with this rhetoric, which is very transparent for all to see.

Seems to be the pattern for Alliance allied races, never actually getting the ones we asked for.

They absolutely are not a popular request, but I have become far more intrigued by those deep sea jinyu that sound like an edgier take on the race concept, hunting naga for vengeance and being more fearsome than the average Pearlfin Jinyu.

Honestly, the Pearlfin were not fleshed out well. Their culture came across as too much like Night Elves, not helped by their skeleton being the same, and it really did seem like Blizzard had way more fun fleshing out Hozen because you pretty much saw them everywhere whereas you only saw Jinyu in really cornered locations.

Even more demonstrable with how there are Hozen as part of Horde armies in Dazar’alor, but not so for the Jinyu within 7th Legion ranks.

It’s honestly almost like the devs just did not find them interesting after putting them in the game  but they have a chance to redeem themselves on that if they truly wish to. I will have to believe it when I see it however.

JInyu were really only added to help flesh out early Mists of Pandaria.

The only other Mists of Pandaria race there’s any significant request for and that have had any relevance outside of Pandaria would be the Mogu, which I would much rather have over the Jinyu.

As for Aquatic races, Gilblins would be a clear choice for the Horde or even Naga themselves, while I would prefer that they develop and flesh out a new Aquatic race for the Alliance which seemed to be implied with the preview for Nazjatar, the friendly aquatic race anyway.

I also remember a poster quite some time ago pitching Sea Elves of sorts, which was a neat idea whether they’re even Elven in origin or some kind of Sirens or Merfolk.

I do not see how vulpera can be added as an allied race it would be an outlier as it is not an off shoot of any of the classic races like the others are. Maybe it will be added as a new race sometime in the future but what do I know.

Obviously not to everyone as there are plenty of us that do want to play them. And the addition of High Elves wouldn’t prevent you from playing races that you find interesting.

While they would not follow the MO we’ve seen so far, Blizzard hasn’t establish concrete rules on what constitutes an Allied Race. They made some comments about them not being sub races and being quick and easy to do. But a lot of work has been with Vulpera already. So maybe the MO changes or maybe it stays the same. We’ll see.

What you are doing, Fyre, is circumventing a well-deserved suspension for your constant trolling. If the mods here were worth their salt, you’d be IP banned.

Allied races do not fill any pattern.

Allied races can be created out of nowhere (void elves).
They can have new models (kul tirans).
And Blizzard already said they won’t be only subraces, which seemed to be about vulpera.

In essence, what qualifies an allied race is that they need to be unlocked, start at higher level and don’t have their own 1-20 leveling zones.

(Oh, and they have less customization options as well, it seems)

tbf, I could tell by the inept arguments that this was a Fyre alt.

tbf, it doesn’t make me roll my eyes any less when I read what’s said.

tbf, whether on a Blood elf or a gnome, your arguments are still weak as water.

tbf, you overuse tbf.

tbf, I don’t think you even know HOW to use tbf.

and Lydon is back! But … but … but … MUH MODELS! Daddy Ion please NO don’t let 'em take MUH PRECIOUS MODELS!

Did you seriously get up at this hour just to disparage me when I’m not around?

Nah, I beep in when I take my dog out to the bathroom.

I’m basically never here wasting my own time. I’m either doing something else or at work getting paid.

Yea, I honestly don’t understand the “they’re bland and uninteresting” business. Many people will find enjoyment out of playing a High Elf, who’d find them interesting and complex.

If people would be happy by playing something, why stand in their way? I mean, I personally wont play Vulpera or Sethrak for example but I won’t stand in the way of those who do. If it’ll make others happy, I’m all for it.

I don’t understand campaigning against an addition which would make others happy. They won’t lose anything in the process or will they be forced to play as that AR.
