Yeah, true. VolJin heard whispers from a “loa” to make her warchief but it wasn’t bwom, LK, or Helya so we don’t know.
ANd he does not remember things well, so it may have not even been him the one to name Sylvanas.
I have a theory about it (I always have a theory, it’s my M.O.):
I just did that quest chain on my Hordie today! Indeed, Vol’jin’s memory is fuzzy around the events and he doesn’t remember who whispered to him. As we travel with him to the broken shore, we learn that as he fought he felt the Loa had abandoned him, which actually lead to him getting stabbed. So Someone actually interfered to get Vol’jin Killed and Sylvanas in charge by whispering to him.
Shades keep attacking you, so whomever did it doesn’t want you to learn the truth, and who sends them gets refered as “The Master” so it’s pretty vague, but it seems to be an entity of death, but one neither Bwonsamdi, Bolvar or Eiyir know about.
Also whomever brought Vol’jin back made him something more than just a spirit, so while someone schemed to get Vol’jin Killed, someone brought him back with even greater power.
So there are two unknown players here messing with Vol’jin, and we won’t know more until he returns from his walkabout on the other side
I’m a bit jealous of the extra stories Horde is getting.
8.0 had the Vol’jin glaive and G’huun.
8.1 had the Saurfang and Vol’jin questlines
I’d love to see faction-shaping stories like these on the Alliance as well. So far, we only got the night warrior thing (and Horde also got to experience it from their perspective).
Puts on his Farstrider outfit to fit in with Alamara and Bladinas.
Rangers unite!
I have to say the Blood Elf heritage armor is very nice. I need to get my pally to max level and unlock it. Shame it doesn’t come with the shield and glaive.
I really wish they would relax on the restrictions on some weapons.
Yeah. I hate that it doesn’t come with a shield.
Though my Paladin wouldn’t use it anyways. He’s that Silver Hand/ Argent Crusade type of Paladin. Doesn’t like Blood Knights.
He’s my only Blood Elf that I’d faction change.
But who knows? Maybe I’d make a Blood Knight then.
I like Blood Knights. I think they’re pretty interesting. But, until they make High Elves playable, he’s as close as it gets to the childhood dream.
Yeah, I feel the same way. My paladin usually has the Lightbringer armor with the Tabard of the Argent Crusade. (Although right now I’ve been experimenting with making a pants version of the ICC 25 man paladin set.)
I’m going to make a call that it ends up being Gorak Tul or Helya and Odin was the one who gave him the status boost to not being undead.
I once asked ysthsens about ranger shrouds like the ones that sylvanas had and if they were going to implement them. He said he has no idea if they were or not.
Waa kinda heart broken by that, always loved the design of High Elven rangers
We do have some options. Alamara and I are currently using the Hood of the Savage Hunt which is from Hellfire Citadel which is pretty easy to solo these days, and has blue and red PVP recolors available. There’s also the Eagletalon hoods and their respective PVP recolors. If you’re a Hunter you can do a side quest to get a “Dark Rangers Cowl” at the Trueshot Lodge. (Its basically a black recolor of the leather hood’s used in Legion.)
Before that there were the Savage, Hateful, and Deadly Gladiator’s chain armor from Wrath (Green, Blue, and Red respectfully) that also used cowls. I use the Hateful Gladiator’s chain for my Silver Covenant set.
/edit
I forgot, if you’re Alliance, you have access to the Darkshore mail set, which in its “basic” tier has a hood.
Yeah, once upon a time I complained that there were very few mail hoods. Now we have lots of them. Hoods are always awesome, so I hope we get many more styles in the future.
Yeah, me too. I’m pretty well set with my collection. I mostly go for green and blue, but I certainly wouldn’t say no to more styles.
Are we really going to keep bringing up Auric like he was ever meant to do anything more substaintial than give the Alliance a person to hand them Quel’delar?
He was in Allerian Hold, then this one questline, and then never seen again. While there’s no indication he is dead, without having seen him used or even spotted in any content used in the last 11 years, I find his inclusion regarding anything remotely resembling “leadership” of High Elves dubious at best.
He’s as relevant as most of the other High Elves, named or not, from TBC/Wrath era that haven’t been seen since, that is to say, not at all.
And if they add him to more stories he will be relevant so your point is moot.
Again, given Void Elves didn’t exist until Last Thursday, had no NPC’s, no quests, no characters, no lore at all, and yet get to be a whole new race, your point is totally sunk by that alone.
“If they add this thing that they haven’t for 11 years, he’ll be relevant again.”
Never change, guys.
My point is he is not at all what I consider active in any leadership role of any sort for High Elves.
All that High Elf presence you want to point to in Cata, Mists, Legion? He was part of zero (0) of it.
Alleria. Trylion. Trollbane. Khadgar. All the dead Warlords.
Again. Your point is moot. This is a story and they can bring back whomever they choose whenever.
They can also not do any of that.
What exactly are you trying to say?
Potential evidence is not evidence.
Or, you know they could not have had any High elves at the Sunwell. No one would have batted an eye. After the rivalry set up between the Silver Covenant and the Sunreavers, it would have been no shock to anyone that only Blood elves would be allowed to see the Sunwell.
And yet we saw High Elf pilgrims, and Auric Sunchaser as the “High Elf Representative.”
Sure he may not have appeared again after this, but it was his second appearance, and quite a notable one, standing up to the Blood elven leadership for non Blood Elven players (of both Horde and Alliance)- while still being respectful.
He was a diplomat, and he acted diplomatic. That is something to take note of.
Will he return? Who knows. But he made his mark. He’s worth remembering.
