The Unofficial High Elf Discussion Megathread

...
Noone actually forced these threads to be consolidated - its a player driven initiave to reduce thread redundancy and make it easier for the devs to look over as a single discussion. There's no obligation to confine ourselves to these threads beyond common decency really. We're not being quarantined - noond forced us all into the one thread, we did it of our own accord - but consolidating does help us show that there's a unified community thats willing to support and brainstorm ideas to try and make things happen, and the CMs really like that.

The "why now" was referring to Blizz allowing us to talk about it again, not players wanting to talk about it.

Yeah, apologies, I should have quoted Heliwyr's post instead of your since I was more referring to their statement. >.>

Do you know what a Frostfencer is?

:)

If you don't you should find out!

You mean this?

https://wow.gamepedia.com/Frostfencer_Seraphi

Yes, very good sign indeed!

:D

They put him in during the beta phase, gave him blue eyes, then they changed his skin name in the code to High_Elf_1 (something like that). New class type, or maybe a sub class? New exclusive NPC class? Very cool questions!

I think high elves may be blizzards trump card. They are keeping it in reserve for if things get really bad they will finally release them in the hope to revitalize people. It is their “defcon 1” button.

Given the 8.1 spoilers that have been revealed already, I'd say the game already looks to be at defcon -5 at least.

It really makes me think High Elves are already written into this expansion and we just haven't got to that part in the story yet. That would explain why Blizz could be so flippant about it. All building for the big dramatic reveal!

No, just like all other Allied Races they will have unique features which make them distinct - including hairstyles :).

You can check out concepts on our Tumblr page - https://legacyofqt.tumblr.com/

Enjoy!

For those telling us to shut up about High Elves and move on, and that this thread is being used as a method of containment, I will remind you of this;

That and the fact that we've reached 70 pages in.

So please, refrain from posting things like "High Elves are playable on the Horde." and "This thread is spam", etc. This is nonconstructive and you've stated your opinion multiple times throughout this thread, never mind the better part of a year.

We get it, Blizzard gets it, everyone gets it. You don't want High Elves for very simplistic reasons and have little to no interest in any actual discussion or dialogue. So please, show some maturity and move on, there's no need to bring the same back and forth in here every day. That constitutes as spam and trolling.

That being said, you can certainly disagree with us, but at least try to do so with some class, as only one hardcore anti has attempted to show us any sort of human decency.

This thread wasn't created for drama and non-constructive back and forths. it was to offer a more cohesive and central area for those who want them to offer up their opinions and ideas as well as even those who don't to offer their concerns. Many of us will even meet them halfway and try to factor their concerns into our requests, we've done so multiple times already.

Is it non-constructive to say: drop it - High Elves are in the game. Literally, besides a faction or two, the race is part of the Horde. And one of those factions that are not, are the High Elf faction that were transformed by the void.

Edit:
A rose is still a rose by any other name. A High-Elf is still a High-Elf by any other name.

In a 70 page thread, definitely. It's unoriginal and you know full well that it's the other factions that you refer to that are a part of the Alliance that people want to play on the Alliance.

Yes, because there are plenty of really great arguments already that point out differently, and simply saying 'drop it' without providing any meaningful rebuttal is the definition of non-constructive and intentionally antagonistic.

But, I'm sure you're smart enough to know what you were doing when you wrote that post. ;)

We're not arguing that they don't have the same biology, but there's a race of thalassian elves allied to the Alliance that we'd like to see playable. It has nothing to do with those who call themselves Blood Elves

Edit: The anti crowd needs to be honest, they know exactly what we mean when we say High Elves. We're obviously referring to the ones that have thrown their lot in with the Alliance and are still calling themselves High Elves to this day. When Elisande called out the Quel'dorei as being peasants playing at nobility, the Blood Elves were not confused at all as to who she was referring to

They would probably get different options, anything to make them more distinct. Doesn't mean their options would be better, though

The big dramatic reveal will be Blood Elves getting blue eyes as part of the heritage Questline. Calling it now.

With the amount of data mining going on I don't think they'd be able to hide that sort of thing while being unable to hide the nelf Night Warrior customization imo.
